Study on the Development of a Fundamental course for Overcoming Blocks to Creativity in Design Education

  • In the midst of a continued discourse and development concerning design education and its impact on innovation and creativity, I believe that design education still holds the key to enhancing design methodology while increasing creativity by having students take on several creative roles in an interactive and enjoyable studio course. Clearly, there exist impediments that block the creative process in our standard track in design education; however, a course entitled "The Creative Workshop" can overcome such obstacles. Through this course, a student can learn the essential skills of a designer: inventive thinking, a sense of aesthetics, and a spirit of collaboration. In addressing each of the three essential elements, this course has devised role-plays in the way of projects. Simply put, students will be required to demonstrate and, therefore, express their unique creativity that may have otherwise gone muted. Such creative expression can take form in a low stakes, open forum that heralds the invaluable attribute in design such as creative freedom. As a result, the true spirit of creativity is fostered rather than mere aesthetics and styling. Moreover, through role plays, the focus shifts its center from design, allowing each student to explore the uncharted areas of one's own creativity which may come naturally to some extend while disconcerting to others. It may prove particularly uncomfortable for Korean students whose ideas about education have been directly connected to the strict and regimented school system that stresses adherence to standardization such as the national college entrance exam. This course, therefore, is aimed stretch the scope and scale of students' creativity as they learn to collaborate on role plays, utilizing diverse skills from various disciplines.

추나의학 관련과목 개설현황 조사 (Curriculum Analysis of Chuna Manual Medicine in Korea)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the curriculum of Chuna manual medicine (CMM)-related subjects in oriental medicine college and to let CMM have opportunities to develope current curriculum and basic circumstance for CMM. Methods: Questionnaire was obtained from 11 oriental medicine college and 1 school of Korean medicine, Pusan National University, bye-mail. If there was any insufficient information from response, we asked more information by direct call. Results and Conclusions: The findings from our study can be summarized as follows: 1. There are three CMM-related subjects, CMM, Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine (ORM) and Neuromusculoskeletology(NMS). All curriculums of 8 colleges belonged to classification I have CMM and DRM courses. Curriculums of 4 colleges belonged to classification II, have ORM or NMS course without CMM course. 2. 10 colleges of 11 ones which have ORM course, have major compulsory courses, 1 college has a major optional course. 5 colleges of 8 ones which have CMM course, have major compulsory courses, 3 colleges have major optional courses. 2 colleges have only part-time lecturers for CMM course, other 2 college have cooperation of specialized professors and part-time lecturers, another 8 colleges have only specialized professors. 3. Most CMM-related subjects is teached at 3 or 4 grade of medical course. The units taken for CMM-related subjects is minimum 4 units to maximum 8 units in total about 160 units. 4. Total class hour for CMM-related subjects is minimum 120 hours to maximum 225 hours, and practice hours is about minimum 30 hours to maximum 75 hours. 5. The systematic regulation and financial support is needed for patients to get the best CMM treatment, because the present curriculum of CMM is insufficient for carrying out the best manual therapy for patients.

골프장 이용자 선호도 평가지표 개발 (A Study on Development of Evaluation Indicator for Golf Course User's Preference)

  • 본 연구는 골프장의 경기력과 운영관리 향상을 위한 평가지표들을 개발하고자 수행되었으며, 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 이론연구 및 전문가 예비설문을 통해 가정된 골프장 조성 및 운영관리 15개 중간평가지표, 55개 하위평가지표 체계가 성립되지 않고 최종적으로 환경친화성, 회원서비스 수준, 진행원의 인적서비스 수준, 코스의 난이도, 코스관리수준, 운영관리 공정성, 접근성 및 입지성, 클럽의 전통성 및 클럽의 분위기, 코스의 우수성, 코스레이아웃 등 10개의 중가 평가지표 및 52개 하위평가지표로 재구성되었다. 골프장 이용자 선호도 평가지표의 중요도 결정요인을 분석한 결과, 코스의 관리수준, 포스의 우수성, 진행원의 인적서비스 수준, 코스레이아웃, 환경친화성 순으로 기여도가 높게 나타났다. 골프장 평가지표의 경로계수를 파악한 결과, 코스레이아웃 부문에서는 홀의 굴곡과 코스길이의 순으로 인과효과의 크기가 나타났다. 코스의 우수성에는 토너멘트 진행시설, 다양한 샷 밸류(shot value)의 순으로, 운영관리 공정성에는 대기의 편리성, 예약의 공정한 배정 등의 순으로 인과관계가 높게 나타났다. 클럽의 전통성 부분은 골프코스의 역사 및 환경적 특성, 지역의 역사문화가, 접근성 및 입지성과 관련해서는 지리적 조건이, 환경친화성에서는 농약 및 비료유출량, 수질오염 등이, 회원서비스 수준에서는 회원혜택과 직원의 친절한 응대 등이 상대적으로 인과효과의 크기가 높은 지표로 나타났다. 경기진행원의 인적서비스 수준 분야에서는 경기진행원의 친절한 응대, 경기진행원의 전문지식 정도가, 코스의 난이도 부분은 티잉 에어리어(Terming area)의 위치, 오비(Out of Bounds: OB) 및 해저드(Hazard) 말뚝 위치의 순으로 코스의 관리수준에는 러프상태 및 장애물 관리상태 등이 상대적으로 인과효과가 높았던 지표들로 나타났다. 향후 보다 세부적인 평가지표들을 도출하는 후속연구를 통해 골프장 이용자 선호도 평가지표 체계 모델을 완성하고, 국내외 골프장을 대상으로 평가지표들을 현장 적용하고 검증해 보는 과정이 뒷받침될 필요가 있다.

아주대학교 의과대학 환자/의사/사회 과정을 통한 의학전문직업성 교육 경험 (Ajou University School of Medicine's Educational Approach to Cultivating Professionalism)

  • The purpose of this study was to observe how Ajou University School of Medicine runs its curriculum to cultivate professionalism. The paper also proposes a plan for the next step for the school. The Patient-Doctor-Society (PDS) course, begun in 2009, can be summarized by three characteristics. First, the PDS course is an integrated curriculum that is not a one-time program for a specific grade, but a continuous program open for all medical students. Second, the PDS course is designed following the philosophy and educational goals of the institution, and the curriculum assures maximum autonomy. Third, the PDS course is 'whole person education' that provides knowledge and teaches skills and an attitude. By analyzing the pros and cons of the program through annual evaluation, leaders of the program at Ajou will continue to consider what to teach and how to do so.

Development of wrinkled skin-on-a-chip (WSOC) by cyclic uniaxial stretching

  • The skin experiences constant physical stimuli, such as stretching. Exposure to excessive physical stimuli stresses the skin and can accelerate aging. In this study, we applied a method that allowed human fibroblasts and keratinocytes to be perfused with media to form 3D skin equivalents that were then uniaxially 10%-stretched for 12 h per day (at either 0.01 or 0.05 Hz) for up to 7 days to form wrinkled skin-on-a-chip (WSOC). There was more wrinkling seen in skin equivalents under 0.01 Hz uniaxial stretching than there was for non-stretched skin equivalents. At 0.05 Hz, the stratum corneum almost disappeared from the skin equivalents, indicating that stretching was harmful for the epidermis. At both frequencies, the production of collagen and related proteins in the skin equivalents, such as fibronectin 10 and keratin, decreased more than those in the non-stretched equivalents, indicating that the dermis also suffered from the repeated tensile stress. These results suggest that WSOCs can be used to examine skin aging and as an in vitro tool to evaluate the efficacy of anti-wrinkle cosmetics and medicines.

신학대학교에서 성품 교육을 위한 실천적 코스 모델 개발 (Developing a Practical Course Model for the Personality Education in a Theological University)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 신학대학교에서 성품 교육을 위한 구체적인 코스 모델의 개발을 통하여 학습자들이 장차 신앙 공동체 및 나아가 전체 사회 공동체에 기여할 수 있는 역량을 갖추도록 돕기 위함이다. 고도의 기술 혁명과 더불어 국내외적으로 진행되는 시대적 변화의 도전 앞에서, 기독교 고등 종교 교육기관으로서의 신학대학교는 개별 학습자의 교과에 대한 전문성과 더불어 지정의 차원 나아가 영적 성숙을 포괄하는 전인적인 성품 역량을 육성할 필요가 있다. 신학대학교 학습자의 성품 역량은 학습자 개인의 자아실현뿐 아니라 신앙 공동체는 물론 사회 공동체의 복지와 연결되어 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 1장에서 오늘의 새로운 시대적 변화에 대응하여 신학대학교에서의 성품 교육의 필요성에 대해 문제를 제기하고, 2장에서 선행 연구의 고찰을 통해 고도의 기술 혁명 시대에 고등 교육 기관에서 성품 교육 커리큘럼의 중요성과 필요성에 대한 인식을 고찰하였다. 3장에서는 신학대학교에서 초점을 두어야 할 성품 교육의 요소들과 코스의 방향 설정에 대해 살펴보았다. 4장에서는 성품 교육을 위한 코스 설계(디자인)의 전 과정-기획의 필요성 수립 및 방향 결정, 코스의 개념 진술, 교육 목표 및 학습 목표의 설정과 진술, 학습경험(내용) 조직, 교수-학습 활동, 학습성과 평가 및 코스의 개선에 이르는 과정-을 '기독교 사회교육론' 학과를 예시로 들어 순차적으로 서술하였다. 코스 디자인 과정표를 통하여 코스 개발의 전 과정을 시각화하고, 개념지도, 내용 개요 및 단원의 조직 과정, 스코프-씨퀀스 챠트의 실천적 예시를 제공하였다. 5장에서는 위의 모든 과정을 총괄하여 학생들에게 제공되는 수업계획서 즉 실라버스의 주요 구성 요소를 통합적이고 축약적인 방식으로 예시하였다. 본 연구는 신학대학교의 전체 아카데믹 프로그램의 커리큘럼 평가와 설계가 아니라 개별 코스 개발에 대한 연구로써 학생들의 성품 교육을 위한 구체적인 수업 기획과정의 모델을 연구한 것이다. 본서의 시도가 기독교 고등 종교 교육기관에서 학습자의 성품 역량을 지향하는 코스 개발에 있어 하나의 방법론으로서 참고가 될 수 있기를 기대한다.

Problem Based Learning (PBL) 을 이용한 의상학과 이론수업방식에 관한 고찰 (The Effects of Problem Based Learning on the Social Psychology of Clothing course)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of PBL (Problem based-learning) on the social psychology of clothing course. Thirty-seven undergraduate university students completed a 15-week capstone course in a clothing and textiles department. Eighty-one percent of the participants were majoring in the clothing and textiles. The study was conducted two focus group interview with 37 undergraduate students. The participants demonstrated positive attitude toward the PBL (Problem Based Learning) in Social Psychology of Clothing course. The results showed that the students have more opportunities to practice collaboration within the team and to increase their self-esteem and self-confidence through the 15 week of teamwork. The participants were developed to express their opinion actively and solving the problem skills. Eighty percent of the instructors had a positive attitude toward the achievement of the course objectives. Seventy-five percent of the instructors expressed the difficulty of student's evaluation. Fifty-five percent of the instructors had a difficulty of development of module problems.

소아청소년 양극성 장애의 임상 경과 (Clinical Course of Bipolar Disorder in Children and Adolescents)

  • Objectives : The early onset of mood symptoms in bipolar disorder has been associated with poor outcomes in many studies. However, aspects of the clinical course of bipolar disorder in children and adolescents are controversial. The goal of this article is to review the clinical characteristics and longitudinal course of children and adolescents with bipolar disorders. Methods : Searches were conducted in MedLine, PsycINFO, KISS, and RISS using the terms phenomenology, clinical course, outcome, BPD, pediatric, children and adolescents. Twenty-one reports were selected : either original articles reporting symptoms and clinical characteristics of subjects (ages 5-18 years), or published articles in reviewed journals about bipolar disorder in children and adolescents. Results : Approximately 70% of subjects with bipolar disorder recovered from their index episode, and 50% had at least 1 syndromal recurrence, particularly depressive episodes. For 60% of the follow-up time, subjects had syndromal or subsyndromal symptoms with numerous changes in symptoms and shifts of polarity. Approximately 20% of BP-II subjects converted BP-I. Conclusion : Bipolar disorders in children and adolescents are characterized by episodic illness with subsyndromal and syndromal episodes with mainly depressive and mixed symptoms and rapid mood changes. Extensive follow-up time is needed to evaluate the continuity of bipolar disorder symptoms from childhood to adulthood.

자기관리과정이 루푸스 환자의 자기간호활동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of a Self-Management Course on Self-Efficacy, Fatigue, Coping Skills and Self-Care Activities in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus)

  • Purpose: A quasi-experimental study was conducted to identify the effects on Self-efficacy, Fatigue, Coping Skills and Self-care Activities by Korean patients following a Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Self-Management (SLESM) Course. Methods : A two group pre-test and post-test design was used. The participants in the study were forty-one people with Systemic Lupus Erythematosis of which 21 subjects were assigned to the experimental group and 20 to the control group The experimental group received six weekly 2-hour group sessions, while the control group did not receive any intervention Outcome measures included self-efficacy, fatigue, coping skills and self-care activities. Baseline demographic and clinical variables did not differ between the two groups. Results : Patients who Participated in the self-management course showed significant decrease in fatigue (p= .038), improvement in self-efficacy (P= .001) and coping skills (p= ,048), increase in self-care activities (p= .003), and in the number of types of self-care activities(P= .048). Conclusion: Self-efficacy, coping skills and self-care activities improved and fatigue was reduced following the SLESM course. This study showed that a SLESM course is a good nursing intervention that can be offered in community settings.

미용전공 대학생의 팔로워십 유형에 따른 진로결정자기효능감과 진로성숙도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Career Decision Self-Efficacy and Course Maturity According to Followership Types of Undergraduate Students Majoring in Beauty)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of career decision self-efficacy and course maturity on followership types of undergraduate students majoring in beauty and provide basic data for development of guidelines that can facilitate career decisions. Subjects are 310 students majoring at beauty colleges and universities. Results of this study were as follows. First, career decision self-efficacy was influenced by two underlying factors such as, followership of thinking Style and fatterns of behavior. Second, the effect of followership types on career maturity was significant. Both the higher followership of thinking Style and fatterns of behavior, the career maturity was more affercted. Based on this study, students majoring in cosmetology were divided into type of followership and analyzed according to organic relevance of career decision self-efficacy and course maturity. Based on this, professors or mentors may understand characteristics of college students in cosmetology in explaining characteristics of their profession related to their major. It will be beneficial to provide an opportunity for beauty students to make a reasonable course maturity and career decision self-efficacy with followership types.
