Feature Analysis for Seceders among New Students Passed the D University Entrance Examination

  • Recently, because of decreasing in population, most of local universities are competing to attract new students in the entrance examination. These situations cause that most of the examinee apply for several universities to matriculate in a university. So these problem may raise a serious trouble such as additional new students invited. Therefore, in this study, we consider a few statistical models by using data mining technique to understand the pattern of new students who discard registration(seceders) in spite of success in the D university entrance examination. To construct these models, we use entrance examination data of three years. On the basis for analysis results of entrance examination data, we look into the features for secession of new students who success in an university entrance examination. We provide a basic information to make a effective entrance plan for seceders in future. Also, we make a search for the trend based on three years by analyzing entrance examination data of 2006, 2007 and 2008 years.

Analysis of University Academic Achievements using the Formal Concept Analysis - Focusing on Computer Engineering Department -

  • This study had a purpose to find the correlation between academic achievement and entrance examination score using FCA and framing a concept of university academic achievement and entrance examination score and then, building concept lattice. The subject for this analysis was admission materials of freshmen in computer engineering department at A university located in Chungcheong area in 2010. Also 56 students in total were subjects for the score analysis of their first semester from 2010 to 2014. The major findings of this study were as follows. We organized and extracted many-valued context, concept lattice, associated rules using FCA. And we analyzed the correlation between University academic achievement and entrance examination score using FCA. The conclusions were as follows. We could get meaningful analyzed results using FCA. University academic achievement had lower relativeness with entrance examination score and female students had higher university academic achievement than male students. The improvement points are summarized below. It is necessary to improve the ratio and application method of the university admission factors and to increase the regular admission for a university. And programs for completing College-preparatory programming for male students in low university academic achievement are necessary.

  • This paper studies the relationship between the college entrance examination scores and college mathematics achievements of the freshman, who are the students of college of technology and management in Yanbian University, by employing statistical analysis. First of all, we start from the correlation analysis of the majors and regions of students. Secondly, with gender and region as the classification, we divide the sample into two parts and test the mean significance, and we find that not only different gender but also different region have significant differences to college mathematics achievements. Thirdly, we use the college entrance examination scores as independent variable, and college mathematics achievement as the dependent variable to establish regression model. The model provides a realistic basis for the education department of our school, and provides reference value for the other major research.

고 3 수험생 어머니의 입시준비 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구 (A Phenomenological Study on the Mothers' Experiences with Children Preparing a College Entrance Examination)

  • The study reported a phenomenological analysis of the interviews with 19 mothers who had a child preparing a college entrance examination. The research question was what mothers experienced in supporting their child in his/her study for the examination. Results indicated that 'the senior year in a highschool' was described as the most stressful period affecting all the family members. Mothers' experiences were portrayed from three perspectives: mothers, as family members, experiencing the attachment to her child but conflicts with her husband; mothers, as individuals, adjusting by trying to setting realistic academic goals for her child while supporting him/her physically, emotionally, and spiritually; and mothers, as critics to extrafamily systems, blaming the inconsistency of educational policies. 1bis study was conducted with a holistic view, and highlighted the importance of interactions between traditional ideology about the mother roles and socioeconomic contexts when interpreting mothers' supporting their child in study for a college entrance examination.

  • 한국에서는 교육을 중요시하고 있으며, 그 중에 영어교육에 상당히 치중해 있다. 이러한 교육에는 공교육과 사교육이 있는데, 대다수의 가구에서는 사교육에 대한 비용을 지출하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 각 가구에서 지출하고 있는 사교육비와 수능성적과의 관계를 살펴본다. 분석결과 사교육비의 지출과 수능성적 간에는 양(+)의 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 사교육 총 투입시간과 수능성적 간의 관계에서도 양(+)의 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Churn Analysis for the First Successful Candidates in the Entrance Examination for K University

  • In this paper, we focus on churn analysis for the first successful candidates in the entrance examination on 2006 year using Clementine, data mining tool. The goal of this study is to apply decision tree including C5.0 and CART algorithms, neural network and logistic regression techniques to predict a successful candidate churn. And we analyze the churning and nochurning successful candidates and why the successful candidates churn and which successful candidates are most likely to churn in the future using data from entrance examination data of K university on 2006 year.

경기지역 여자고등학생의 과민성 장 증후군 빈도와 입시 스트레스, 정신 건강, 삶의 질에 관한 연구 (Frequency of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Entrance Examination Stress, Mental Health, and Quality of Life among Adolescent Women)

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the frequency of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), entrance examination stress, mental health, and quality of life among adolescent women. Methods: A survey conducted to collect data from 925 adolescent women in Gyeonggi Province. The measurements included the Rome III criteria (to diagnose IBS), the entrance examination stress scale (to evaluate stress), symptom check list90R (SCL-90R to evaluate mental health), and World Health Organization Quality of Life Abbreviated Version (WHOQOL-BREF to evaluate quality of life). Frequency, $X^2$-tests, t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the SPSS 16.0 program were used to analyze the data. Results: The frequency of IBS in the women was 22.8%. One hundred thirty eight women (65.4%) had the mixed constipation and diarrhea subtype of IBS. Compared to the women without IBS, those with IBS reported significantly higher scores on entrance examination stress scale, SCL-90R, all subscales of SCL-90R, and lower scores on WOLQOL-BREF. Conclusion: Nursing interventions targeting adolescent women with IBS should be developed in order to alleviate the associated stress and mental health and to promote quality of life.

예비교사와 고등학교 교사의 인식을 통한 교육대학 입학과 사교육의 관련성 (The Relationship between Admission to University of Education and Private Education through Perceptions of Pre-service Teachers and High School Teachers)

  • 본 연구는 교육대학의 입시 제도가 사교육과 어떤 관련성이 있는지를 알아보고, 사교육 경감을 위한 교육대학 입시 제도의 개선 방향에 대해서 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 현장에서 대학 입시를 담당하는 대구·경북 지역의 고등학교 3학년 담임교사들과 교육대학 입시를 실제적으로 경험한 D 교육대학 1학년 재학생을 대상으로 교육대학 입학 전형 요소와 사교육과의 관련성에 대한 인식을 알아보았다. 연구 결과, 교육대학 입시에서 내신 강화가 공교육을 강화하는 효과도 있지만, 내신이 중요하다는 인식이 강하게 작용하여 오히려 사교육을 강화하는 역작용이 발생할 여지가 있다는 의견이 많았다. 농촌 지역인 경상북도와 대도시인 대구 지역의 전형 요소별 인식 차이가 커서 지역 사회의 특성을 고려한 전형과 각 교육대학이 위치한 지역별 특성을 반영한 입시 제도의 도입이 필요하다. 정시 전형의 요소별 점수 반영 비율에 대해서 3학년 담임교사들은 수능 점수 반영 비율을 낮추어야 한다는 의견을 제시했으며, 이와 함께 면접 반영 비율의 상향을 주장하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 사교육 감소를 위한 교육대학 입시제도의 개선 방향에 대한 시사점은 서류 평가의 공정성 확보가 요구되며, 면접의 강화와 함께 나타날 수 있는 사교육 문제의 해결을 위해서 면접의 방향 및 문항에 대한 공개가 뒤따라야 한다는 것이다.

재수생의 건강증진행위와 관련요인 (Health Promoting Behaviors and Related Variables in Students Rewriting College Entrance Examination)

  • Purpose: In order to provide basic information for the development of nursing programs, health promoting behavior of students rewriting college entrance examinations was examined and factors related to health promotion were identified. Method: Data were collected by questionnaire from 804 examines in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and were analyzed using the SAS program with t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and Pearson correlation coefficients. Result: The mean score for health promoting behavior was 2.50. The highest score for the sub-areas was harmonious relationships and the lowest was, professional health maintenance. There were significant differences in health promoting behavior according to the following general characteristics; religion, frequency of rewriting college entrance examination, economic burden, parents' education level, grade, satisfaction with parents, friends and rewriting of college entrance examinations, parents' health concernsand knowledge of health, need for health education, and health condition and chronic disease over the past year. Correlations between health promoting behavior and family support and self-esteem were positive. The variables that influenced health promoting behavior were family support ($24.5\%$), self-esteem ($11.3\%$), anxiety ($2.6\%$), and stress of studying ($0.5\%$), explaining $38.9\%$ of the total variance. Conclusion: These results will help to develop a nursing program that enhances health promoting behavior of students rewriting college entrance examinations.

이공계열 대학 신입생의 기초 수학분야 학업성취도 및 효율적인 교육 방안에 대한 연구 (On freshmen's academic achievements of college mathematics and the efficient methods of education)

  • 대학 입학 제도는 고등학교 교육뿐만 아니라 입학 후 전공에의 적응 및 수학능력과도 밀접한 관련이 있다고 볼 수 있다. 이와 같은 관점에서 본 논문에서는 경희대학교 국제캠퍼스 이공계열 신입생들의 주요 과목으로 공동관리 되고 있는 미분적분학1을 2006학년도부터 2016학년도까지, 선형대수학을 2011학년도부터 2016학년도까지, 그리고 미분적분학2와 미분방정식과목에 대한 2011학년도부터 2015학년도까지의 학업성취도 및 입학전형을 비교, 분석하고 이공계열 신입생들의 전공에의 적응과 학업능력신장을 위한 개선점을 제안한다.
