  • Background: Published manuscripts are the main source of biological knowledge. Since the manual examination is almost impossible due to the huge volume of literature data (approximately 19 million abstracts in PubMed), intelligent text mining systems are of great utility for knowledge discovery. However, most of current text mining tools have limited applicability because of i) providing abstract-based search rather than sentence-based search, ii) improper use or lack of ontology terms, iii) the design to be used for specific subjects, or iv) slow response time that hampers web services and real time applications. Results: We introduce an advanced text mining system called PubMine that supports intelligent knowledge discovery based on diverse bio-ontologies. PubMine improves query accuracy and flexibility with advanced search capabilities of fuzzy search, wildcard search, proximity search, range search, and the Boolean combinations. Furthermore, PubMine allows users to extract multi-dimensional relationships between genes, diseases, and chemical compounds by using OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing) techniques. The HUGO gene symbols and the MeSH ontology for diseases, chemical compounds, and anatomy have been included in the current version of PubMine, which is freely available at http://pubmine.kobic.re.kr. Conclusions: PubMine is a unique bio-text mining system that provides flexible searches and analysis of biological entity relationships. We believe that PubMine would serve as a key bioinformatics utility due to its rapid response to enable web services for community and to the flexibility to accommodate general ontology.

  • For the pressurized propellant supply system of liquid rocket, feed pressure is determined with respect to the chamber pressure of normal combustion state. However, during ignition period the initial chamber pressure is atmosopheric. This may cause overflow, hard-start and even critical damage for the engine. This paper proposes an improved propellant feed system for the stable combustion of liquid rocket. The proposed system utilizes the cavitating venturi to provide stable mass flow rate. Cavitating venturi offers unique flow control capabilities at normal and abnormal combustion state, because flow rate is soley dependent on the upstream absolute pressure and fluid properties, but independent on th downstream condition. Experimental variables are propellant feed pressure and chamber pressure. The effectiveness of cavitating venturi increased when the ratio of actual feed pressure to the cavitating venturi design pressure is increased. It is also found that Kerosene if more effective to supply stable mass flow rate than LOx.

  • Industrial Revolution is a concept and a development that has fundamentally changed our society and economy. Industry 4.0 focuses on the end-to-end digitization of all physical assets and integration into digital ecosystems with value chain partners. At present, we find ourselves at the beginning of this fourth stage, which is characterized by so-called "Cyber-Physical Systems". These systems are a consequence of the far-reaching integration of production, sustainability and customer-satisfaction forming the basis of intelligent network systems and processes. If South Korea ran toward global ICT with the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, North Korea has adhered to a unique Juche science and technology. ICT in South Korea and North Korea seems very difficult to find common interests. However, as seen in the Internet and intranets, information and communication technology can find similarities in many areas than in general science and technology. There are many differences not only in the level of ICT and science and technology but also in the direction. And IT terminology and all technologies are also different. What are we preparing for the unification of North and South Korea? If we look at the science and technology sector at present, there seems to be no systematic preparation by the government. South Korea and North Korea need to be prepared for science and technology cooperation. First, it is necessary to understand the exact situation of North Korea's science and technology. In this study, we will perform research to establish mid and long term plans for revitalization of ICT cooperation between the two Koreas. In this study, we will determine the extent to which the two Koreas utilize ICT based on available ICT capabilities and technologies. To do this, we conducted research to measure and evaluate the ICT development index of North Korea using ICT international index.

  • Monitoring and economical design of alternative energy generators such as wind turbines is becoming increasingly critical; however acquisition of the dynamic output data can be a time-consuming and costly process. In recent years, low-cost wireless sensors have emerged as an enabling technology for structural monitoring applications. In this study, wireless sensor networks are installed in three operational turbines in order to demonstrate their efficacy in this unique operational environment. The objectives of the first installation are to verify that vibrational (acceleration) data can be collected and transmitted within a turbine tower and that it is comparable to data collected using a traditional tethered system. In the second instrumentation, the wireless network includes strain gauges at the base of the structure. Also, data is collected regarding the performance of the wireless communication channels within the tower. In both turbines, collected wireless sensor data is used for off-line, output-only modal analysis of the ambiently (wind) excited turbine towers. The final installation is on a turbine with embedded braking capabilities within the nacelle to generate an "impulse-like" load at the top of the tower. This ability to apply such a load improves the modal analysis results obtained in cases where ambient excitation fails to be sufficiently broad-band or white. The improved loading allows for computation of true mode shapes, a necessary precursor to many conditional monitoring techniques.

  • This paper introduces the process in which the Center for Freedom of Information, founded for the public's right to know by disseminating public information, was created . Building archives with scarce resources and capacities has resulted in a number of troubles and frustrations, and the need for reorientation. However, through the contributions of many people empathizing with the unique needs and meanings of citizen-led archives, difficulties were overcome, and archives were built. This paper summarizes the specific difficulties and capabilities required in this process, especially the knowledge and assistance needed in the field of records management. Although much research is necessary, the archives serve as an example of remembering and reconstructing the past when the 1997 Crisis Archives had shaken all the foundations of people's lives, and a tool to guide decision-making.

  • The MCMA adaptive blind equalization algorithm has a excellent phase correction capabilities in addition to channel amplitude equalization, but has an inevitable error by mismatching between the original constellation points in arriving at the perfect equalization since unique new type constellation points are used as desired response instead of original constellation points and follows the slow convergence speed of CMA. In this paper, We propose an adaptive blind equalization algorithm with dual-mode, which has decision regions. Inside the decision regions, it operates as considering the moudlus of original data symbol point and outside the decision region, it operates as considerin gthe modulus of new constellation points. The proposed algorithm has a lower error in the steady state and rapid convergence speed toward steady state using the original data symbol points instead of new constellation points in the decision regions. From computer simulation, we confirm that the propposed algorithm has the performance superiority in residual ISI, convergence speed compared with the cnventional adaptive blind equalization algorithms, CMA, MCMA, Stop-and-Go algorithm.

  • In this paper, a new regularization method by parameter subset selection method is proposed based on the residual force vector for damage localization. Although subset selection using the fundamental modal characteristics as a residual function has been successful in detecting a single damage location, this method seems to have limited capabilities in the detection of multiple damage locations and typically requires cumbersome weighting values. The method is presented herein and considers cases in which damage detection must be achieved using incomplete measurements of the structural responses. Model expansion is incorporated to deal with this challenge. The unique advantage of employing the new regularization method is that it can reliably identify multiple damage locations. Through an illustrative example, the proposed damage detection method is demonstrated to be a reliable tool for identifying multiple damage locations for a planar truss structure.

  • Zeolites were discovered as a natural mineral more than two hundred ago. In the beginning, the mineral was used as ion-exchange material and adsorbent. After the end of World War II , however, a variety of zeolites have become available in large amounts because of the establishment of low temperature synthesis and the discobery of natural zeolite deposits of sedimentary origin. Various uses of xeolite were developed utilizing the unique crystal strucrure and function of these minerals. In connection with this development remakable progress has also been made in basic stuides on the related geology and mineralogy, crystallization from sols and gels, structure, ion exchange, adsorption and cataiysis. As a result, zeolites, which had been known only as mineral specimens displayed in museums. established a firm position among the high-technology masterials with excellent functional capabilities.

  • Understanding is the foundation of music appreciation, the ultimate goal of music learning. The purpose of this research was to create a model for the integration and implementation of Gordon's music learning theory principles into Suzuki violin instruction. This research shows how audiation can be taught within the framework of the Suzuki philosophy and curriculum. It is expected that Gordon's music learning theory can provide Suzuki teachers with unique capabilities for teaching musical understanding, specifically through the development of audiation. Through an audiation-based approach to Suzuki instruction, thus, young violinists will be able to learn to comprehend the tonal and rhythmic aspects of the music they perform. Future researchers may wish to assemble a more complete guide to the tonal and rhythm patterns used in the Suzuki repertoire. Furthermore, additional lesson plans and activities can and should be developed that represent the application of music learning theory to Suzuki violin instruction.
