  • In this paper, the weight functions for the Mode I and Mode II in SEN(single edge notched) specimen are obtained by superposition of the displacement in the singular field of the Buckner type and the displacements by opposite tractions induced by the singular field. The stress intensity factors, $K_{I}$ and $K_{II}$ are calculated by the weight function theory in SEN specimen under the loading equivalent to uniform tension and shear at infinity in Griffith crack. And the results are compared with the exact solutions.s.

  • It is well known fact that there is a theoretical analogous relation ship in terms of differential equation between the stress distribution of a bar under pure torsional moment and the deflection of a membrane subjected to a uniform pressure. This relationship has been applied to the experimental determination of torsional stresses with troublesome and elaborative measuring procedure since Griffith's invention of the soap-film apparatus. In this paper, the soap-film was replaced by a highly polished steel plate and whole visualable deflectional contour-line-map was able to obtain by using Michelson Interferometer with Ne-He Gas Laser lignt source enabling to determine the stress distribution in the vicnity of the symmetrical inner-boundary in a section. Experimental results were satisfactory and the margin of error in the measurement was lower than 1%.

  • An elastic model is developed to predict the average thermal residual stresses in the matrix and fiber of a misoriented short fiber composite. The thermal residual stresses are induced by the mismatch in the coefficient of the thermal expansion of the matrix and fiber when the composite is subjected to a uniform temperature change. The model considers two special cases of fiber misorientation ; two-dimensional in-plane and three-dimensional axisymmetric. The analytical formulation of the model is based on Eshelby's equivalent inclusion method and is nuque in that it is able to account for interactions among fibers. The model is more general than past models and it is able to treat prior analyses of the simpler composite systems as extram cases. The present model is to investigate the effects of fiber volume fraction, distribution type, distribution cut-off angle, and aspect ratio on thermal residual stress for both in-plane and axisymmetric fiber misorientation. Fiber volum fraction, aspect ratio, and disturbution cut-off angle are shown to have more significant effects on the magnitude of the thermal residual stress than fiber distrubution type for both in-plane and axisymmetric misorientation.

  • The RC beams subjected to bending and shear are an important substructure. After flexural cracking, the internal stress state in the beam could not be explained by the classical beam theory. In this study the internal force state factor is introduced to explain the stress state change in the RC beams. The internal force state factor of uniform load was expanded by superposition method using infernal force state factor of point load. As the load types change, the operator that would be calculated the internal force state factor was proposed.

  • This paper describes a calculation of an average crack spacing and the maximum crack width for the high-strength concrete tensile and flexural members. Based on the uniform bond stress distribution of the average steel and concrete strains over the transfer length, the crack spacing and the crack width are proposed to utilize influence of the concrete strength and the cover thickness. This analytical results presented in this paper indicate that the proposed equations can be more effectively estimated the maximum crack width and the average crack spacing of the reinforced concrete flexural and tensile members.

  • In this paper, free vibration, forced vibration, resonance and stress wave propagation behavior in nanocomposite plates reinforced by wavy carbon nanotube (CNT) are studied by a mesh-free method based on first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The plates are resting on Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation and subjected to periodic or impact loading. The distributions of CNTs are considered functionally graded (FG) or uniform along the thickness and their mechanical properties are estimated by an extended rule of mixture. In the mesh-free analysis, moving least squares (MLS) shape functions are used for approximation of displacement field in the weak form of motion equation and the transformation method is used for imposition of essential boundary conditions. Effects of CNT distribution, volume fraction, aspect ratio and waviness, and also effects of elastic foundation coefficients, plate thickness and time depended loading are examined on the vibrational and stresses wave propagation responses of the nanocomposite plates reinforced by wavy CNT.

  • Vacuum-assisted thermoforming is one of the critical steps for successful application of film insert molding (FIM) to make parts of complex shape. If the thickness distribution of the formed film is non-uniform, then cracking, deformation, warpage, and wrinkling can easily occur at the injection molding stage. In this study, the simulation of thermoforming was performed to predict the film thickness distribution, and the results were compared with experiments. Uniaxial tensile tests with a constant crosshead speed for various high temperatures were conducted to investigate the stress-strain behavior. An instance of yielding occurred at the film temperature of $90^{\circ}C$, and the film stiffness increased with increasing crosshead speed. Two types of viscoelastic models, G'Sell model, K-BKZ model, were used to describe the measured stress-strain relationship. The predicted film thickness distributions were in good agreement with the experimental results.

  • Currently, the aircraft industry, aircraft parts as well as airframe have been developed in producing, the aircraft parts and fuselages have been produced the product by cutting rather than forging and casting because of the residual stress and stress concentration. In this study, the aircraft is being used in many parts of aluminium alloy 2024 in wire-cut E.D.M. The selected experimental parameters are peak current, no-load voltage, off time and feed rate. It is found that cutting mountain part on surface roughness of the curve 0.3mm than 0.25mm diameter wire electrode is stable in many uniform distribution.

  • In general, for measuring residual stresses in plane stress state, two principal stresses {\sigma}_1 , {\sigma}_2$ and their directions .theta., should be determined. Naturally, for deciding three unknowns ${\sigma}_1, {\sigma}_2, ${\theta}$-three informations are necessary and therefore three strain gages are required for determining residual stresses at one point. In this paper, we tried to measure the residual stresses of one point with only two strain gages by drilling twice the hole of different diameters at the point and by detecting relaxation strains for each hole-drilling. We present also the formulas for determining the residual stresses from relaxation strains detected by strain gages in each hole-drilling. We carried out experiment, determining principal stresses and their directions of specimens applied specified uniform stress, and compared experimental results with the values calculated by formulas presented in this paper. The values calculated by formulas presented in this paper are always a little greater than the experimental results.

  • The compressive behavior up to failure of short concrete members reinforced with fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is investigated. Rectangular cross-sections are analysed by means of a simplified elastic model, able also to explain stress-concentration. The model allows one to evaluate the equivalent uniform confining pressure in ultimate conditions referred to the effective confined cross-section and to the effective stresses in FRP along the sides of section; consequently, it makes it possible to determine ultimate strain and the related bearing capacity of the confined member corresponding to FRP failure. The effect of local reinforcements constitute by single strips applied at corners before the continuous wrapping and the effect of round corners are also considered. Analytical results are compared to experimental values available in the literature.
