Study on the pressure self-adaptive water-tight junction box in underwater vehicle

  • Underwater vehicles play a very important role in underwater engineering. Water-tight junction box (WJB) is one of the key components in underwater vehicle. This paper puts forward a pressure self-adaptive water-tight junction box (PSAWJB) which improves the reliability of the WJB significantly by solving the sealing and pressure problems in conventional WJB design. By redundancy design method, the pressure self-adaptive equalizer (PSAE) is designed in such a way that it consists of a piston pressure-adaptive compensator (PPAC) and a titanium film pressure-adaptive compensator (TFPAC). According to hydro-mechanical simulations, the operating volume of the PSAE is more than or equal to 11.6 % of the volume of WJB liquid system. Furthermore, the required operating volume of the PSAE also increases as the gas content of oil, hydrostatic pressure or temperature difference increases. The reliability of the PSAWJB is proved by hyperbaric chamber tests.

Statics variation analysis due to spatially moving of a full ocean depth autonomous underwater vehicle

  • Changes in gravity and buoyancy of a Full Ocean Depth Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (FOD-AUV) during its descending and ascending process must be considered very carefully compared with a Human Occupied Vehicle (HOV) or a Remotely Pperated Vehicle (ROV) whose activities rely on human decision. We firstly designed a two-step weight dropping pattern to achieve a high descending and ascending efficiency and a gravity-buoyancy balance at designed depth. The static equations showed that gravity acceleration, seawater density and displacement are three key aspects affecting the balance. Secondly, we try our best to analysis the gravity and buoyancy changing according to the previous known scientific information, such as anomaly of gravity acceleration, changing of seawater states. Finally, we drew conclusion that gravity changes little (no more than 0.1kgf, it is impossible to give a accurate value). A density-depth relationship at the Challenger Deep was acquired and the displacement changing of the FOD-AUV was calculated preciously.

생체모방형 수중로봇의 해양작전 운용개념 및 핵심소요기술 (Applications and Key Technologies of Biomimetic Underwater Robot for Naval Operations)

  • This paper gives an overview on the some potential applications and key technologies of biomimetic underwater robot for naval operations. Unlike most manned underwater naval systems, biomimetic underwater robots can be especially useful in near-land or harbour areas due to their ability to operate in shallow water effectively. Biomimetic underwater robot provide advantages in reaching locations that would be difficult or too dangerous for a manned vehicle to reach, as well as providing a level of autonomy that can remove the requirement for dedicated human operator support. Using multiple or schools of underwater robots would provide increased flexibility for navigation, communication and surveillance ability. And it alleviate some of the restrictions associated with speed and endurance design constraints.

사용자 운용 편의성을 위한 수중로봇 MR-1의 수조실험에 관한 연구 (A Basic Study of Water Basin Experiment for Underwater Robot with Improving usability)

  • This paper describes a method for tracking attitude and position of underwater robots. Underwater work with underwater robots is subject to differences in work efficiency depending on the skill of the operator and the utilization of additional sensors. Therefore, this study developed an underwater robot that can operate autonomously and maintain a certain attitude when working underwater to reduce difference of work efficiency. The developed underwater robot uses 8 thrusters to control 6 degrees of freedom motion, IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), DVL (Doppler Velocity Log) and PS (Pressure Sensor) to measure attitude and position. In addition, the thruster allocation algorithm was designed to follow the control desired value using 8 thrusters, and the motion control experiments were performed in the engineering water basin using the thruster allocation method.

  • Recently the use of the antiwashout underwater concrete with the antiwashout admixture is increased considerably. Antiwashout underwater concrete is quite different in concept from conventional underwater concrete. By mixing an antiwashout admixture with concrete, the viscosity of the concrete is increased and its resistance to segregation under the washing action of water is enhanced. The aims of this research is statistically evaluated to mix proportion factor of antiwashout underwater concrete. Experiment was performed to analyze the influence variables(cement, water, and antiwashout admixture) on fundamental characteristics of antiwashout underwater concrete. The influence variables can be considered for use in a wide range of underwater work where their have statistically significant effect on the characteristics(fluidity, filling ability, resistance to washout, etc.) of antiwashout underwater concrete.

  • Recently the use of the antiwashout underwater concrete with the antiwashout admixture is increased considerably. The aim of this research is to evaluate the fundamental characteristics and permeability of antiwashout underwater concrete with fly ash and blast-furnace slag. Test Results of antiwashout underwater concrete with fly ash and blast-furnace slag fluence can provide its excellent fundamental characteristics and resistance of permeability.

Multi-objective geometry optimization of composite sandwich shielding structure subjected to underwater shock waves

  • Multi-objective optimization was conducted to obtain the optimal configuration of a composite sandwich structure with honeycomb-foam hybrid core subjected to underwater shock waves, which can fulfill the demand for light weight and energy efficient design of structures against underwater blast. Effects of structural parameters on the dynamic response of the sandwich structures subjected to underwater shock waves were analyzed numerically, from which the correlations of different parameters to the dynamic response were determined. Multi-objective optimization of the structure subjected to underwater shock waves of which the initial pressure is 30 MPa was conducted based on surrogate modelling method and genetic algorithm. Moreover, optimization results of the sandwich structure subjected to underwater shock waves with different initial pressures were compared. The research can guide the optimal design of composite sandwich structures subjected to underwater shock waves.

수중레저활동에 대한 법적 고찰과 개선방안 연구 (Legal Considerations and Improvement Suggestions on Recreational Underwater Activity)

  • 본 연구는 국내외 수중레저활동 관련 법률을 분석하여 국내 수중레저법에 대한 개선방안을 다음과 같이 제안한다. 첫째, 수중레저활동자는 '수중레저사업자로부터 계약을 통해 수중레저활동 서비스를 제공받으며 수중레저활동을 하는 사람'으로 개정되어야 한다. 둘째, 수중레저활동구역을 설치하는 주체는 '수중레저사업자 및 수중레저활동자 등'으로 확대되어야 한다. 셋째, 레저 테크니컬 다이빙은 나이트록스 또는 혼합 가스 등을 사용하므로 가스 종류가 명확히 기재된 스티커 또는 밴드를 부착하도록 규제가 추가되어야 한다. 넷째, 다이빙 필수 장비에 수면표시부표(SMB)를 추가하고 공기통에 대한 일상 관리 및 정비방법에 대한 규제조항이 추가되어야 한다. 다섯째, 수중레저활동자의 다이빙 보험가입을 적극 권유하도록 제도화 할 필요가 있다. 이외에도 수중레저활동자의 안전을 확보하기 위해 수중레저사업자의 응급절차와 다이빙 가이드라인을 구체적으로 명시할 필요가 있다.

수중문화유산 보호를 위한 법제도 정비 및 효율적 관리방안 (A Study for Improving Direction of Legal Regime and Policy for Protecting our Underwater Cultural Heritages)

  • Korea has many underwater cultural heritages within the east, west and south seas surrounding the Peninsula that indicate historically important sealanes for trade and transportation. As these underwater cultural heritages are the objects of despoilment because of their relatively easy access through modern technology, their often high historical and priceless value demands strong protection similar to or better than the land cultural properties. Currently, Korea does not have any concrete laws or regulations for the protection of underwater cultural heritages. Thus, these heritages iu, somewhat temporary and inappropriately subjected to laws and regulations relating to provisions of individual Laws concerning protection of cultural properties act, and statute of excavation of material fir buried national property, lost articles act etc.. Internationally, the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage was adopted but not yet entered into force. Therefore, the protection of underwater cultural heritage has become an urgent matter. In this regard, this article's main purpose is to provide recommendations for improving direction of legal regime and policy for protecting our underwater cultural heritages. These legal regimes need provisions for definition of the underwater cultural heritage, scope of application, ownerships, jurisdictions and protection measures. And suggestions are provided in regard to policies for the protection of underwater cultural heritages that may improve organization and cooperation among concerned ministries and agencies, compensation system, restrictions for excavation of underwater relics, efficiency of survey of underwater surface and information system.

수중음파 센서네트워크를 위한 계층별 프로토콜의 설계 및 성능 평가 (Design and Performance Evaluation of Hierarchical Protocol for Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks)

  • 최근 수중 환경 모니터링 시스템에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 수중음파센서네트워크에 관련된 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 수중음파센서네트워크는 수중환경 모니터링, 수중자원탐사, 해양 데이터 수집, 군사 목적 등 다양한 분야에 활용되고 있다. 이러한 다양한 분야에서 활용 가능한 수중음파센서네트워크의 활성화를 위해서는 PHY-MAC 프로토콜의 정의가 필수적이다. 하지만, 수중음파센서네트워크는 제한된 대역폭, 다중경로 및 페이딩현상, 지상 무선통신에 비해서 낮은 음파 속도로 인한 전송 지연시간 등 수중환경의 특수성에 고려해서 구현을 해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 수중환경과 관련된 제약사항을 고려하여 적응적인 PHY 프로토콜의 주파수, 네트워크 토폴로지, MAC 프로토콜, PHY-MAC 인터페이스, 데이터 프레임 포맷을 정의하고, 구현한 시스템의 구성에 대해서 설명하며, 수중환경에서의 실제 실험을 통한 데이터를 기반으로 성능 평가를 하였다.
