A Guidance Methodology Using Ubiquitous Sensor Network Information in Large-Sized Underground Facilities in Fire (대형 지하시설물에서 화재발생 시 USN정보를 이용한 피난 유도 방안)

  • Because of the insufficiency of ground space, the utilization of underground is getting more and more in these days. Moreover, underground space is being used not only buildings but multipurpose space for movement, storage and shopping. However, ground space has vital weakness for fire compared to ground space. Especially in case of underground shopping center, there are various stuffs to burn and poisonous gas can be exposed on this count when the space is burned. A large number of casualties can be also occurred from conflagration as underground space has closed structures that prevent rapid evacuation and access. Therefore, this research proposes the guidance methodology for evacuation from conflagration in large-sized underground facilities. In addition, suggested methodology uses high technology wireless sensor information from up-to-date ubiquitous sensor networks. Fire information collected by sensors is integrated with existing underground facilities information and this is sent to guidance systems by inducing process. In the end, this information is used for minimum time paths finding algorithm considering the passageway capacity and distance. Also, usefulness and inadequacies of proposed methodology is verified by a case study.

Disaster Management and Disaster Medical Improvement in Underground Space (서울시 지하공간 재난관리 및 재난의료 개선방안)

  • In this study, the disaster management and disaster medical improvement was described in underground space(specifically underground shopping center) in case of fire disaster occurred. Firstly, statue and system was discussed concerning building law, safety, fire services, refuge. The underground in Seoul management is classified as to space and form and management agent is different according to the type form. Because the difficulty of emergency rescue arises due to individual management system unified system needs to be established and improvement of facility management agent is necessary. For the patient to be transfer on the ground, corporation between command head quarter and emergency rescue team are essential. And disaster information and emergency medical information are also need to be considered. Therefore, effective countermeasures for emergency saving is urgent considering distribution of medical institution and medical treatment.

  • Recently, IAQ(indoor air quality) is one of the greatest problems in our modern societies. Although research for IAQ is made rapid progress but microorganism concentration is much to be desired. So we have examined a variety of department store, subway station, underground shopping center, kindergartens, library etc. where people complain about the indoor air quality. The microorganism concentration of indoor air was investigated in this study and the average of total microorganisms was measured. The experimental results show that the ministry of Environment recommendation value (800 $CFU/m^3$)is in need of revision in the naer future.

  • Recently, construction techniques have been rapidly developed with reconstruction of old buildings, urban regeneration and efforts of restoring natural ecology, so demolition of deteriorated buildings has been rapidly increasing. Demolition work of building should be executed without damaging surrounding environments according to relevant regulations. There are various demolition methods and among them, explosives demolition is the most practical way for expenses and safety of work. As a part of Daejeon stream ecological restoration project, this thesis is a case of executing demolition of Chung-Ang Department Store which was built 35 years ago as covered structure on the upper part of Daejeon stream with explosives demolition. This structure is 8 stories high, total height of 41.6 m including basement floor, $1,650m^2$ for building area and $18,351m^2$ for total floor area. It is located in the center of Daejeon city where shopping centers and buildings are crowded and main facilities are Daejeon subway (18m), backside shopping center (20m), underground shopping center(15m), Mokchuk bridge, Eunjung bridge(0.25m) and fiber-optic cable(0.25m). In this project, implosion was selected for explosives demolition methods by considering this area being a busy urban area, and this project was executed after examining collapse movement of structure in advance using simulation program not to damage main facilities. Total 80kg of explosives and 1,000 detonators were being used. This project will be a good case of executing explosives demolition successfully by applying implosion on urban area in the country.

  • LBS (Location Based Service) services are very useful to our daily life and it should be available inside a building: a huge building, a shopping mall, a large scale underground shopping center, and so on where GPS (Global Positioning System) signal is not available. An LBS which is provided inside a building is called an ILBS (Indoor Location Based Service). One of the most important techniques for ILBS development is indoor positioning. Among the indoor positioning techniques, APs (access points) of WLAN based ones are most economical because WLAN is available almost everywhere. Meanwhile, the web service has been proved to be an excellent practice of software reuse. Therefore, if indoor positioning is provided in the form of web service to programmers then development of ILBS would be greatly accelerated. This paper introduces the AP based trilateration and K-NN indoor positioning and RFID based indoor positioning web services we have developed.

  • Recently, indoor air quality (IAQ) is one of the greatest problems in our modern societies. Although research for IAQ is made rapid progress but IAQ problems concerning in door microorganism contamination is required to be studied still more. So we have investigated the indoor microorganism concentration of a variety of department store, subway station, underground shopping center, kindergartens, library where people complain about the in-door air quality. The experiment on microorganism concentration of indoor air was carried out and the average of total microorganisms was measured. Comparing the experimental results with existing foreign criterion, the experimental results show that the ministry of environment recommendation microorganism concentration value ($800 CFU/m^3$) is in need of revision in the near future.

  • Accident likelihood is growing due to a correlation for gas and electricity installed in the area of dense energy consumption like traditional market and underground shopping center. In order to prevent and respond accident risks related to gas and electricity in this area, it should be monitored and predicted for factors of gas leak or electricity by developing safety management system. This study is about accident prediction model development considering fire risk factor related to gas accident. The temperature variation characteristic near a gas burner was analyzed. Also, accident prediction algorithm and related module were developed to prevent fire in the area of dense energy consumption.

  • 3D data are in great demand for pedestrian navigation recently. For pedestrian navigation, we needs to reconstruct 3D model in detail from people's eye. In order to present spatial features in detail for pedestrian navigation, it is indispensable to develop 3D model not only in outdoor environment but also in indoor environment such as underground shopping complex. However, it is very difficult to acquire 3D data efficiently by mobile mapping without GPS. In this research, 3D shape was acquired by Laser scanner, and texture by CCD(Charge Coupled Device) sensor. Continuous changes position and attitude of sensors were measured by IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit). Moreover, IMU was corrected by relative orientation of CCD images without GPS(Global Positioning System). In conclusion, Reliable, quick, and handy method for acquiring 3D data for indoor environment is proposed by a combination of a digital camera and a laser scanner with IMU.

  • After 1970-80's rapid economic and urban development, nowadays the old downtown suffers from the deterioration of physical environment, outflow of its function and cavitation of population. And this phenomenon makes urban regeneration as a new paradigm in urban development. This is the case of Myeongdong area (Jungang-dong, Monsung-dong), old downtown of Cheonan around rail station, in the same way. City government has tried many regeneration/ redevelopment projects on this area but all failed due to lack of feasibility. This study intends to suggest new viable strategic regeneration scheme of this area through research and analysis of TOD development, existing condition and problems. As a result, the area needs to be considered as a node that links bus terminal complex and central market place with walkable street. For regeneration of this area, a strategic development scheme of this area is suggested deploying private capital invested rail station, underground shopping mall, transfer center, culture complex and nature park with Myeongdong street mall.
