A rotor-bearing system has been investigated, including internal damping and axial torque using finite dynamic elements. A procedure is presented for dynamic modeling of rotor-bearing system which consist of finite dynamic shaft elements, rigid disk, and bearing and seal. A finite dynamic element model including the effects of rotatory inertia, gyroscopic moments, axial force, and axial torque is developed using the frequency dependent shape function. The natural whirl speeds, stability, and unbalance response of rotor system are calculated on several cases and compared with the conventional finite elements.
This paper predicts the unbalance and transient (start-up) response of a 5MW industrial gas turbine by using commercial rotordynamic tool, DYNAMICS 4.3. The gas turbine is operated at 12,975rpm on squeeze film dampers or tilting pad bearings. The stiffness and damping coefficients of the squeeze film dampers and tilting pad bearings are estimated. It is seen that the vibration amplitude of the gas turbine rotor is sufficiently small around the critical speeds and at the rated speed.
Rotating machinery often encounters excessive vibration due to various excitation sources. Among others, the synchronous excitation due to rotating unbalance and initial deformation is acknowledged to be one of the major sources of vibration in rotor-bearing systems. In this paper, a synchronous response analysis method in the presence of the initial deformation is proposed to investigate the peculiar effect of the initial deformation on the response of general flexible rotor-bearing systems with rotational speed dependency and the anisotropy. Experiments are performed and compared with computational results to verify the proposed analysis method. Two numerical examples are also provided to illustrate the characteristics of the synchronous response of general rotor-bearing systems due to the initial deformation.
A dynamic model of reducer for generating facility of electric pourer having bevel gear pair and planetary gear train is developed by lumped method. The model accounts for the shaft and bearing flexibilities, gyroscopic effects and the force couplings among the transverse and torsion motions due to gearing. Vibration/noise analysis as well as strength of bevel gear pair and planetary gear train are considered. Exciting forces of high reducer for generating facility of electric power areconsidered as the mass unbalance of the rotors, misalignment and a function of gear transmission error. A Campbell diagram, in which the excitation sources caused by the mass unbalance of the rotors, misalignment and the transmitted errors of the gearing are considered, shows that, at the operating speed, there are not critical speed.
In general, industrial rotating machinery have been designed to have critical speed that is above operating speed. But nowadays, they should be operated more than the first critical speed as usual with the trend of high speed and high performance of rotating machinery. Therefore, it is important to predict the accuracy rotordynamic characteristics of the high speed rotating system in advance. In this paper, the results of rotordynamic analysis about FWP(Feed Water Pump) drive turbine rotor are showed. Because the FWP drive turbine analyzed is high speed machinery operated more than the operation speed of conventional FWP drive turbine, Seismic response analysis as well as unbalance response analysis is done in order to improve the reliability of the new turbine rotor-bearing system.

In continuous galvanizing process, the mass of zinc deposited and its distribution are controlled by the air pressure, effective distance from the air knife nozzle to the steel strip surface and line speed. Coating defects are resulted from the unbalance of these control factors and the inaccuracy of coating equipments. This paper investigates the main cause of coating deviation and a new air knife system for control of coating thickness was developed. We investigate dynamic pressure variation by air knife types. It is found that the coating deviation is caused by the unbalance of dynamic pressure, the irregularity of strip position, and the strip vibration. Formulating a useful coating model by using present working condition, an optimal working condition is suggested. The productivity and coating quality are improved by applying the result of this research at the shop floor.
This paper presents dynamic characteristics in Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) with rotor eccentricity and proposes the reduction method of rotor eccentricity effects by the different winding connections. These characteristics investigations are computed by 2D transient magnetic FEM analysis coupled with external circuits. The radial and unbalance magnetic force in the stator, which is the main exciting force of the vibration, is calculated using Maxwell stress method and compared with the performance characteristics according to the serial and parallel connections of windings. The influence of winding method counteracting unbalance forces on the rotor vibration behavior is estimated by the current waveforms of the paralleled paths under rotor eccentricity.
The transitional characterisics of oscillations and rotational speeds from the starting to the stationary states in damped single degree of freedom systems acted upon the rotor unbalance forces are studied. Angular travel is assumed to vary with time. The theoretical analysis is obtained by using Laplace transform method. Integration involved in the theoretical results is carried out by the numerical analysis program of continuous-time linear systems to arbitrary inputs. It is evident that the transitional charcterixtics of a machine are affected remarkably by damping ratios, stationary angular velocity time and frequency ratios.
A rotordynamic analysis was performed with a dry vacuum pump, which is a major equipment in modern semiconductor and LCD manufacturing processes. The system is composed of screw rotors, lobes picking air, helical gears, driving motor, and support rolling element hearings of rotors and motor. The driving motor-screw rotor system has a rated speed of 6,300rpm, and was modeled utilizing a rotordynamic FE method for analysis, which was verified through the results of its 3-D finite element model. As loadings on the bearings due to the gear action were significant in the system considered, each resultant bearing load was calculated determinately and indeterminately by considering the generalized forces of the gear action as veil as the rotor itself. Each resultant hearing loading was used in calculating each stiffness of rolling element bearings. Design goals are to achieve wide separation margins of critical speeds and favorable unbalance responses of the rotor in the operating range. Then, a complex rotordynamic analysis of the system was carried out to evaluate its forward synchronous critical speeds, whirl natural frequencies and mode shapes, and unbalance responses under various unbalance locations. Results show that the entire system is well designed in the operating range. In addition, the procedure of rotordynamic analysis for dry vacuum pump rotor-bearing system was proposed and established.

An immune system has powerful abilities such as memory, recognition and learning to respond to invading antigens, and is applied to many engineering algorithm recently. In this paper, the combined optimization algorithm is proposed for multi-optimization problem by introducing the capability of the immune system that controls the proliferation of clones to the genetic algorithm. The optimizing ability of the proposed optimization algorithm is identified by using two multi-peak functions which have many local optimums and optimization of the unbalance response function for rotor model.
