The Influence of Personality Traits on Airline Untact Check-in: Focusing on Mobile Check-in User

  • Purpose: Year of 2020, COVID-19 has been changing the people's everyday life to ways never been thought of before all over the world. The IT and electronic industry, the methods of supplying goods and services have been changed from contact to un-tact environments based on un-tact systems very rapidly. COVID-19 has been striking the tourism and the travel industry, especially the airline and hotel industry of which services are provided by human. For the passenger service of airliner, automation has been propelled and un-tact style of service has become mainstreams except cabin service since 2000's. For passenger transportation, due to traffic regulations and exclusions etc., switching to new ways is not easy. However, under the new environment made by COVID-19, kiosk check-in, web check-in and mobile check-in has become more important. In this study, the characteristics of airline customers using mobile goods are investigated to find ways to raise the rate of utilizing mobile check-in and to increase the efficiency of boarding process. Research design, data, and methodology: Considering the COVID-19 environment, survey was done by online research company. The research model is designed to integrate the user characteristics and usage/purchase motive and technology acceptance theory. Especially considering infectious diseases prevention, concern of safety is adopted as one of the usage motive variable. Results: Extraversion or conscientiousness characteristics prefers counter check-in(contact service), while openness characteristics prefers mobile check-in(un-tact service). Concern of safety for infectious disease shows strong non-preference on counter check-in. Conclusions: Regarding service type regardless of type of the industry, automation and un-tact have been mainstreams due to high costs of labor, efficiency and standardization issue, etc., and COVID-19 has given impetus to them. For airliner, un-tact service including boarding process service has been more and more important. To raise the rate of un-tact service use, the characteristics of the user should be analyzed first. The study results indicate that for extraversion or conscientiousness, some kinds of methods to induce them to use un-tact service more are needed.

  • The advent of the "un-tact 2.0 era," described as a "new normal non-face-to-face social relationship," accelerates the transformation of the living paradigm as a fully digital mediated social relationship. The emergence of these new forms of digital behaviors and mediated relationships significantly influences the industry prospect and consumers' individual lives. Advertising has played a decisive role in moving the formation forces of society, creating a dynamic flow of the capitalist system across races and geographical boundaries. Its role will become more fundamental in the physical contactless environment due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Accordingly, advertising has changed and modified its shape and meaning throughout history to adapt to the dynamic external environment. In this article, we illustrated four primary stages of the evolution in the advertising industry from simple advertising to convergence of advertising. Finally, we also identified the challenges of the present advertising industry and the paradigm transformation of "un-tact 2.0" with various related examples.

  • As the un-tact and on-tact consumption culture has proliferated due to the impact of COVID-19, 'live commerce', a form of shopping while communicating with customers through real-time streaming broadcasting, is emerging in the commerce and distribution industry. Live commerce provides an environment where customers can get the convenience of online shopping and enjoy un-tact shopping more realistically while communicating with the broadcaster in real time, as if purchasing directly from an offline store. Therefore, purchases using live commerce are expected to increase further. In this study, based on the characteristics of live commerce, the main factors influencing the increase in purchase intention through live commerce were derived and their influences were verified. In particular, this study examined these factors in multiple dimensions with focusing on strong interactivity, realistic presence, and providing detailed reviews with high credibility for products as the features of live commerce. This research collected sample data from actual users of live commerce and empirically analyzed the significance of the factors influencing the purchase increase of live commerce, thereby providing implications for knowledge management in a newly changed commerce environment in the un-tact era.

Relationship between Self-esteem, Self-awareness, and Empathy of Nursing Students in Un-tact Era (언택트(Un-tact) 시대 간호대학생의 자아존중감, 자기인식, 공감과의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between self-esteem, self-awareness, and empathy and to identify factors that influence empathy among 302 nursing students from a university in C city from March to May 2021. The collected data were subjected to t-test, ANOVA, correlation and multiple regression analysis. As a result of the study, empathy was 3.59 points out of 5, and gender and nursing department satisfaction were significantly different from empathy. The factors that had a significant effect on empathy were private self-awareness, public self-awareness, positive self-esteem, and gender, with the explanatory power of 22.9%. In order to increase the level of self-esteem, self-awareness and empathy for nursing students, it is necessary to establish a new curriculum that examines interest in their inner world. Development of various curriculum programs such as team classes that help promote interaction using small groups and role-playing classes that explore and experience one's own or others' thoughts and emotions are suggested.

  • The purpose of this research was to develop an un-tact group counseling program to deal with the conflicts in the relationship of unmarried couples and to verify the effect of the program for improving emotional cognition and emotion regulation of unmarried couples. The research procedure consisted of the program development step and the program verification step, and in detail, 8 steps of program development processes were established. The subjects of the research were 11 unmarried couples, and 4 group were organized. The group counseling program was conducted once a week (2 sessions), a total of 10 sessions for 5 weeks. The effect was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. As a result of quantitative analysis, the participant's relationship satisfaction was significantly improved and there was a significant change in some relationship emotional schemas of participants. As a result of qualitatively analysis through participant's program review, participant's emotional understanding and the couple relationship were improved, and the group effect of the couple group counseling was found. Finally, the significance and limitations of this study were presented.

  • Due to a long-term pandemic of COVID-19 since 2019, our society finally goes into 'un-tact (non-contact) era' in earnest by increasing an importance of non-contacted activities which are able to live without contacts among people. Un-tact era has influenced to generate a huge structural change with digitalization in our daily life as well as industrial society based on digital twin as an essential technology. As a technology representing real world in virtual digital world by integrating various technologies applied to 4th industrial revolution, digital twin leads an innovation in industrial society with diverse industrial processes. But this technique isn't actively used across all industries due to structural limitations and environmental restrictions of digital twin. Especially, the field of construction and facility is necessary to use digital twin because it requires periodic managements of buildings in daily life and is directly connected with casualties in cases of disaster. But issues faced in reality are acting as an obstacle for applying digital twin. Therefore, this study suggests the necessity applying digital twin in facility safety response based on these issues and emphasizes active applications of digital twin by describing the expected effects being created. Furthermore, it connects to create demands of digital twin by overcoming current issues and suggesting high sustainable development.

  • With the increasing trend of making manufacturing system intelligent and autonomous, the introduction of robot-assist automation, like machine tending system for automated operation of CNC machine tools, is being actively carried out at many industrial sites. Most important part of this intelligent system to install machine tending system, is interface programming between the CNC machine tools and the industrial robot. Despite this importance, however, the machine tending system has many setup problems. it is necessary for difficult re-program of both controllers whenever a new CNC machine tool or robot is introduced. And, the helps of external engineers is required even though trivial changes due to the complex structure of the machine tending system. Authors of this paper introduces the integrated system of the interface between heterogeneous CNC machine tools and industrial robots. In addition, the digital twin implemented inside the machine tool controller enable shop-floor operators to change the interface programming easily. To implement this system, an integrated development environment for 1) an intelligent HMI platform that provide standardized interfaces to heterogeneous CNC machine tools and 2) a robot platform developing application software of various robots, was established. For easy un-tact environment, this paper explain the development of 3) a game-engine based web program of controlling and monitoring machine tending system remotely.

A Study on the Kiosk UI Reflecting the Elderly's Characteristics (고령자의 특성을 반영한 패스트푸드점 키오스크 UI 연구)

  • This study was conducted to improve the use experience of elderly people in fast food kiosks which are actively utilizing 'un-tact' technology. First, the Kiosk design analysis criteria were discussed through literature research. Then, the UI screens of McDonald's, Lotteria and Burger King, which are currently serving kiosks in Korea, were divided into colors, layouts and buttons. Next, the usability evaluation and survey of the elderly revealed problems with the interface design of the current kiosk. As a result, older people do not recognize buttons without an outline as buttons, and errors occur when layout changes or when viewing is complicated. In addition, horizontal navigation and vertical layout menus were error-free, and the design of buttons was error-free with the same color for the same function. Research shows that the Kiosk UI design is preferred by older people. First, buttons in the form of outline or solid are recommended. Second, vertical binding of buttons combined with images and text is recommended. Third, the screen layout should be consistent with the direction of view flow and manipulation, and should avoid increasing the number of menus and information. Fourth, page navigation is recommended in horizontal form and menu arrangement is vertical form. Finally, buttons that perform the same function are efficient for buttons to use the same color, and for different functions, applying a complementary colors can reduce confusion.

University Students and Professors' Recognition of Dropout In Covid-19 Non-Face-To-Face Classroom Environment (코로나19 비대면 수업 환경에서 대학생들과 교수의 학업중단 인식)

  • As the university's academic management was not carried out smoothly due to COVID-19, and most of them were conducted as non-face-to-face classes, students' dropout is steadily increasing. In this study focus group interviews were conducted to analyze physics students and professors' recognition of the COVID-19 non-face-to-face class environment. Based on the results, the implications of non-face-to-face classes for physics education were presented. Physics students described their feelings about un-tact teaching as 'the class in which the body is comfortable but the mind is uncomfortable', 'a person who is smarter than me seems to explain a book, reading it' and 'a short clip lecture which may be comfortable but cause losses to me', while the professors also described them as 'a fully transformed class system' and 'a online class putting much burden on me'. Regarding school dropout, students said that the concerns about dropout during non-face-to-face classes were deepened about transfer or transfer. The professors said that the department atmosphere had lost vitality due to the increase in non-face-to-face classes and academic dropouts, and had a lot of worries because of the recruitment rate and external university evaluation. The implications of the COVID-19 non-face-to-face class situation for physics education suggest that it is required to strengthen the interaction between professors and students, finding ways to enhance the sense of reality to supplement laboratory classes and giving opportunities to professors to share their pedagogical contents knowledge in physics.
