  • W-CDMA 단말기에 적용 가능한 balanced 전력증폭기의 load insensitivity 특성을 분석하였다. Balanced 전력증폭기 내부에 있는 두 평형(parallel) 증폭기의 부하 임피던스가 출력 부하 임피던스의 부정합(load impedance mismatch)에 따라 어떻게 변화하는지를 수식적으로 계산하였고, 이를 통해 선형성이 가장 취약한 반사 계수 위상을 조사하였다. 이 위상에서 balanced 전력증폭기는 출력단의 트랜지스터 면적을 적절히 증가시킬 경우 선형성이 개선될 수 있음을 제안하였고, 트랜지스터 면적이 서로 다른 복수개의 1단 balanced 전력증폭기를 설계하여 VSWR=4:1 반사 조건에서의 시뮬레이션을 통해 이를 검증하였다.

  • W-CDMA 단말기에 적용 가능한 고효율 다중 모드 balanced 전력증폭기 구조를 제안하였다. 제안된 전력증폭기는 2단 증폭기로 구성되었고, 낮은 전력 영역 및 중간 전력 영역에서 효율을 증가시키기 위해 stage-bypass 기법과 부하 임피던스 스위칭 기법이 적용되었다. 이를 통해 4가지의 고효율 전력 모드를 구현하였으며, 제안된 구조를 실험적으로 검증하기 위해 GaAs HBT 전력증폭기를 설계 및 제작하였고, 측정하였다.

  • A highly efficient and compactly integrated balanced power amplifier (PA) for W-CDMA handset applications is presented. To overcome the size limit of a typical balanced PA, a bulky input divider is integrated into a PA MMIC, and a complex output network is replaced with simple lumped-element networks. For efficiency improvement at the low output power level, one of the two amplifiers in parallel is deactivated and the other is partially operated with corresponding load impedance optimization. The implemented PA shows excellent average current consumption of 34.5 mA in urban and 56.3 mA in suburban environments, while exhibiting very good load-insensitivity under condition of VSWR=4:1.

  • It has been widely accepted that open phase may separate one of the power lines from power supply which is mainly caused by fuse melting, malfunction for source circuit breaker, contact failure, and disconnection under normal operating conditions, and is considered a kind of failure mode during disconnection of neutral wires as well. When open phase occurs, unequal voltage between phase might happen in the unbalanced load connected each phase, and further, depending on conditions of load, malfunction by providing low voltage. Moreover, load could be burned or overheated with overvoltage, which, in turn, can be a contributor to starting fires. Accordingly, in order to clearly overcome these problems, the current study aims to introduce the theory of uninterruptible power open phase compensation device, meaning that unbalanced power automatically restores balanced power and provides continuously the power supply without blackout, and verify it through simulation and experiments.

  • A bonded warehouse is the warehouse located in bonded area. It functions not only as a general warehouse but also as a place for managing the work related to import and export bonded goods. As a general warehouse, it uses the rack system to store the goods and the folk lift truck to move the unitized goods. The operation of the storing system closely related to the efficiency of space uses in a warehouse and vehicle working. Thus, vehicle performance measured in distance units in the ware-house could be used as one of the key performance measure in warehouse system. This paper focuses on the operation efficiency of the bonded warehouse which uses rack system for the storing and the folk lift truck for moving goods. The method of load allocation for balancing the rack uses and vehicle operation for maximizing efficiency are the specific concerns in this paper. The simulation study is conducted to find a policy for efficient vehicle operation based on balanced rack utilization, and the favorable result for the system operation would lead the usable proposal in vehicle operation.

A Zero Sequence Voltage Injection Method for Cascaded H-bridge D-STATCOM

  • Load variations on a distribution line result in voltage fluctuations at the point of common coupling (PCC). In order to keep the magnitude of the PCC voltage constant at its rated value and obtain zero voltage regulation (ZVR), a D-STATCOM is installed for voltage correction. Moreover, the ZVR mode of a D-STATCOM can also be used to balance the source current during unbalanced loading. For medium voltage and high power applications, a D-STATCOM is realized by the cascaded H-bridge topology. In the ZVR mode, the D-STATCOM may draw unbalanced current and in this process is required to handle different phase powers leading to deviations in the cluster voltages. Zero sequence voltage needs to be injected for ZVR mode, which creates circulating power among the phases of the D-STATCOM. The computed zero sequence voltage and the individual DC capacitor balancing controller help the DC cluster voltage follow the reference voltage. The effectiveness of the control scheme is verified by modeling the system in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The obtained simulations are further validated by the experimental results using a dSPACE DS1106 and five-level D-STATCOM experimental set up.

이차 발전비용함수를 사용한 경제급전문제의 균형-교환 최적화 (Balance-Swap Optimization of Economic Load Dispatch Problem using Quadratic Fuel Cost Function)

  • 본 논문은 이차 발전비용 함수를 적용하는 경제급전의 최적화 문제에 대한 균형-교환 최적화 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 초기치 $P_i{\leftarrow}P_i^{max}$, (${\Sigma}P_i^{max}$ > $P_d$)에 대해 ${\Sigma}P_i=P_d$일 때까지 $_{max}\{F(P_i)-F(P_i-{\alpha})\}$, ${\alpha}=_{min}(P_i-P_i^{min})$인 발전기 i의 출력량을 $P_i{\leftarrow}P_i-{\alpha}$로 균형과정을 수행하고, 교환과정은 $_{max}\{F(P_i)-F(P_i-{\beta})\}$ > $_{min}\{F(P_i+{{\beta})-F(P_j)\}$, $i{\neq}j$, ${\beta}$ = 1.0, 0.1, 0.1, 0.01, 0.001에 대해 $P_i{\leftarrow}P_i-{\beta}$, $P_j{\leftarrow}P_j+{\beta}$로 수행하였다. 제안된 방법을 15, 20과 38-발전기 사례에 적용한 결과 간단하면서도 항상 동일한 결과로 가장 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 또한, 73-발전기를 통합하여 경제급전을 수행한 결과 독립적으로 운영하는 경우에 비해 발전비용을 현저히 절약할 수 있음을 보였다.
