  • There are many studies and products using a test paper impregnated with chemical solution can react with ozone. The color of a test paper can indicate the concentration of ozone. The purpose of this research is to design and manufacture a system using ultraviolet light source to measure the ozone density. This new technique is based on the characteristic of decomposition from ozone into oxygen under ultraviolet light. We used two sources of ultraviolet light including UV lamp and UVLED to determine the decomposition of ozone. This system is built with the electronic components, sensors and sealed pump tube to measure the ozone density in units of $g/cm^3$,ppm,ppb. In this paper,, we present some initial results of measuring the ozone density from ozone generator after completing inspection for safety.

  • A bacteria infection on film cassette contact surface was examined at the diagnostic radiology department. Studies have demonstrated a bactericidal effect of ultraviolet irradiation, and to assess the contamination level on film cassette contact surface as a predictor of patient prevent from nosocomial infection. The study showed that the laboratory result was identified non-pathologic and pathologic bacterial in the five different cassette size of the contact surface. Film cassettes were exposed to ultraviolet light for 1, 2 and 3 minutes. Ultraviolet light disinfection practices suitable for bacteria. The study concludes that presence of a bacterial infection will prevent a using antiseptic technique on film cassette contact surface. In conclusion, ultraviolet irradiate on film cassette over the surface more than 2 minutes. Ultraviolet dose of $1565 {\mu}W{\codt}s/cm^2$ Win in 30 second relative to ultraviolet dose in time.

  • To increase light efficiency, utilizing phosphors transfers ultraviolet ray to visible light and the fluorescent characteristic without change the electrical or optical design. Spreading phosphors on the surface of light bulb mirror can compensate the red and blue light to yield this correct white field after being stimulated by reflected ultraviolet ray.

  • The eighteen ultraviolet light curves of Epsilon Aurigae have been plotted using the integrated fluxes reduced from the 233 IUE low dispersion spectra taken between 1978 and 1986. The times of contacts and depth of eclipse have been determined from the light curves at the wavelength from 2550 $AA$ to 3050 $AA$. The UV light curves show two brightenings during the totality, the downward slope of the variation from the second to the third contacts, and asymmetry of the eclipse light curve. The two selected spectra note that the energy density distribution is not changed between the totality of the eclipse and out-of-eclipse.

  • The purpose of this work is to investigate the interface characteristics of hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin films prepared by PECVD and photo-induced CVD and to examine the annealing effects of ultraviolet irradiation on hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin films which were degraded by visible light illumination. The interface layer thickness of films deposited by photo-induced CVD was about 600-900.angs. while that by PECVD was about 1000-1300.angs.. These results can show that the quality of interface layer in photo induced CVD film is better than that in PECVD sample. The electrical properties are improved by ultraviolet irradiation on visible light soaked a-Si:H films using photo-CVD light sources, probably due to the fact that UV generates phonons in a-Si:H films and anneal the meta stable defects.

  • Conidiomata of the Rosellinia necatrix were induced in axenic culture under near ultraviolet light radiation. Pieces of sterilized Japanese pear twigs were placed on the 7 days-old oatmeal agar culture in plates. The plates were further incubated far 5 days and then illuminated by under near ultraviolet light radiation. Syn-nemata were developed on twigs in 19 out of 20 isolates tested within 5 weeks, and conidia were observed in 12 out of the 19 isolates. The synnemata and conidia produced were morphologically identical to those of Dematophora necatrix.

  • When reserpine-producing cell strains of Rauwolfia serpentina were transferred from the dark to the light irradiation, the production of reserpine was extremely enhanced whereas the cell growth was suppressed. In an incubation period of 20 days, the most effective culture condition for reserpine production was the combination of 8 days of dark culture and following 12 days of light culture. The time courses of both cell growth and reserpine production were measured in vitro in order to clarify the effect of wave length range of light on the biosynthesis of reserpine. Although the growth of cultured cells which had been incubated under continuous red, yellow, and green lights, respectively, was similar to that of the cultured cells subcultured in the dark. The cells cultured under red light irradiation produced less reserpine than dark-grown cultures. Both blue and near-ultraviolet light inhibited the growth of cultured cells. The production of reserpine was strikingly enhanced by blue light, but was strongly inhibited by near-ultraviolet light.

  • Compared to general lighting method, the lighting system that uses optic fiber can provide only the visible light of good quality to subject by eliminating ultraviolet ray and infrared ray. Thanks to this merit, it is possible to prevent the hard phenomenon of subject caused by ultraviolet ray and infrared ray and to provide the agreeable light environment. This study developed indoors illumination system of high color rendering on the basis of plastic optic fiber with excellent optical property and processing to substitute halogen lamp which has been used for excellent color rendering in spite of low efficiency and short life. Producing pilot product of the designed illumination system and evaluating the property of electric and optical property, ultraviolet ray radiation quantity and temperature property, this study verified the excellence of suggested lighting system of plastic optic fiber.

  • The graft polymerization of styrene to polyvinyl alcohol using a photosensitizer(benzophenone) and ultraviolet light was studied. Styrene was grafted onto polyvinyl alcohol up to when polyvinyl alcohol was pre-immersed in water and irradiated by ultraviolet light for 24 hours styrene solution of benzophenone(0.01 molarity). The highest percentage of graft obtained in the grafting which was proceeded in the presence of water added immediately before irradiation was 29%. The grafting was proportional to irradiation time within a certain limit of time, i.e., 24 hours, and presumably was initiated at the surface. After a certain degree of grafting a definite maximum was reached. Graft polymer prepared in this experiment showed high resistance to various solvents.

  • The efficient power MOSFET inverter applied for a simple and low cost power supply is proposed for driving the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) lamp load. For decades, the DBD phenomenon has been used for ozone gas production in industry. In this research, the ultraviolet and visible light sources utilizing the DBD lamp is considered as the load for solid-state high frequency power supply. It is found that the simple voltage-source single-ended quasi-resonant ZVS inverter with only one active power switch could effectively drive this load with the output power up to 700 W. The pulse density modulation based control scheme for the single-ended quasi-resonant ZVS inverter using a low voltage and high current power MOSFET switching device is proposed to provide a linear power regulation characteristic in the wide range 0-100% of the full power as compared with the conventional control based Royer type parallel resonant inverter type power supplies.
