In this paper, we analyzed the resolution of tomographic images which can be obtained with Scanning Tomographic Acoustic Microscope(STAM) utilizing the acousto-optic effect. To realize this, lateral and depth resolutions of both ultrasonic transducer and specimen rotating device are obtained by using BFP tomographic reconstruction algorithm. Simulation results show that both rotating devices have a good depth resolution of $1.5{\lambda}$. For the lateral resolution, the specimen rotating device produces $0.53{\lambda}$ in the x and y directions and the transducer rotating device produces $0.56{\lambda}$ and $0.70{\lambda}$ in the x and y directions respectively. These results imply that the specimen rotating device is more suitable for STAM system construction.

Although nanobubbles attract significant attention, their characteristics and applications have not been thoroughly defined. There are diverse opinions about the definition of nanobubbles and controversy regarding methods that verify their characteristics. This study defines nanobubbles as having a size less than $1{\mu}m$. The generation of these sub-micron (nano) bubbles may be verified by induced coalescence or light scattering. The size of a sub-micron (nano) bubbles may be measured by optical, and confocal laser scanning microscopy. Also, the size may be estimated by the relationship of bubble size with the dissolved oxygen concentration. However, further research is required to accurately define the average bubble size. The zeta potential of sub-micron (nano) bubbles decreases as pH increases, and this trend is consistent for micron bubbles. When the bubble size is reduced to about 700-900 nm, they become stationary in water and lose buoyancy. This characteristic means that measuring the concentration of sub-micron (nano) bubbles by volume may be possible by irradiating them with ultrasonic waves, causing them to merge into micron bubbles. As mass transfer is a function of surface area and rising velocity, this strongly indicates that the application of sub-micron (nano) bubbles may significantly increase mass transfer rates in advanced oxidation and aeration processes.
Graphene doped zinc oxide nanoparticles (G-ZnO) were prepared using modified hummer's technique together with the ultrasonic method and characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Different samples of epoxy resin nanocomposites reinforced with G-ZnO nanoparticles were prepared and were marked as F1 (without adding nanoparticles), F2 (1% w/w G-ZnO), and F3 (2% w/w G-ZnO) in combination of ≈ 56:18:18:8w/w% with epoxy resin/hardener, ammonium polyphosphate, boric acid, and Chitosan. The peak heat release rate (PHRR) of the epoxy nanocomposites was observed to decrease dramatically with the increasing G-ZnO nanoparticles. However, the LOI values increased significantly with the increase in wt % of G-ZnO nanoparticles. From the UL-94V data, it was confirmed that the F2 and F3 samples passed the flame test and were rated as V-0. The results obtained in the present work clearly revealed that the synthesized samples can be used as efficient materials in fire-retardant coating technology.
In this investigation, Bi2MoO6 deposited graphene nanocomposite (BMG) was synthesized using a simple microwave assisted hydrothermal synthesis method. The synthesized BMG nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and photocurrent analysis. The study revealed that the catalysts prepared have high crystalline nature, enhanced light responsive property, high catalytic activity, and good stability. XRD results of BMG composite exhibit a koechlinite phase of Bi2MoO6. The surface property is shown by SEM and TEM, which confirmed a homogenous composition in the bulk particles of Bi2MoO6 and nanosheets of graphene. The catalytic behavior was investigated by the decomposition of Rhodamine B as a standard dye. The results exhibit excellent yields of product derivatives at mild conditions under ultrasonic/visible light-medium. Approximately 1.6-times-enhanced sono-photocatalytic activity was observed by introduction of Bi2MoO6 on graphene nanosheet compared with control sample P25 during 50 min test.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal adaptability of the amalgam restorations in applying the cavity varnish (Copalite$^{(R)}$) and dentin bonding agent (Scotchbond 2$^{(R)}$) under the scanning electron microscope. For this study, eighteen sound extracted human molars were selected. Class I cavities in 12 teeth and class V cavities in 6 teeth were prepared using an air turbine with No. 701 tungsten carbide bur and finished using a low speed handpiece with No. 557 fissure bur. The prepared specimens were then divided into three groups including 4 class I cavities and 2 class V cavities in each group and restored as follows ; Group I. All the prepared cavities were restored with amalgam only (Control). Group II. Two layers of Copalite$^{(R)}$ cavity varnish were applied to the cavities with a gentle stream of air after each application and cavities were restored with amalgam. Group III. The enamel cavity margins were etched with 37% phosphoric acid gel for 60 sec., rinsed for 30 sec. and dried. One layer of visible lightcured Scotchbond Dental Adhesive$^{(R)}$ was applied and immediately cured for 20 seconds with visible light-cure unit and cavities were restored with amalgam. All the specimens were cut at the neck of the teeth and the occlusal halves of specimens were sectioned buccolingually in the longitudinal axis centering the amalgam restorations, using the disk. The cut specimens were ground with sandpapers (400, 600, 800, 1000 grit), and cleaned for 5 minutes in the ultrasonic cleaner (Brason Co. U.S.A.). In the cut surfaces, the amalgam - tooth interfaces were examined under the scanning electron microscope (JSM, 35C type, JEOL). The obtained results were as follows ; 1. The amalgam-tooth interfaces were reduced more significantly in the Copalite$^{(R)}$ and Scotchbond 2$^{(R)}$ application group than in the control group. 2. In the class I cavities, the Scotchbond 2$^{(R)}$ application group showed the findings similar to the Copalite$^{(R)}$ application group in the cavity floor, and the marginal adaptability was better in the side wall than in the cavity floor. 3. In the class I cavities, the Scotchbond 2$^{(R)}$ application group showed better marginal adaptability in the occlusal margin than in the gingival margin. 4. The marginal adaptability was in the order of the Scothbond 2$^{(R)}$ application group, the Copalite$^{(R)}$ application group and the control group.

A series of test was performed measuring the failure strength and failure mode of Gr/Pi, $[0^{\circ}/45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}]_s$ laminate containing a single pin loaded hole. The finite element method is applied to calculate the stress distribution in the laminates, then the failure load and the failure mode were predicted by means of the characteristic length. 12 different geometric variations were developed to analyze the effects of the ratio of specimen width to hole diameter (W/d) and ratio of edge distance to hole diameter (L/d). X-Ray of NDE methods were utilized in finding out the initial defects, damage and the fracture mechanism, and SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopes) was used the evaluation of the fracture mechanism and crack propagation around hole under tension pin loading. $[0^{\circ}/45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}]_s$ laminate are found to be most sensitive to W/d but not so influenced by L/d. The failure mode and tensile strength predicted by the model show agreement with experiment data for pin loading bolted jointed test except range of $L/d{\leqq}3$.
Growth curves for ultrasonic carcass traits such as longissimus muscle area, backfat thickness and marbling score as well as chest girth which was simultaneously measured when carcass traits were investigated using ultrasound measuring technique were estimated to identify growth patterns and to adjust maturing effects in order to evaluating genetic merits on cows in farming basis. 27,410 records from 22,451 cows on which of 15~90 month of age were investigated from the national wide of Korea using by ultrasonic scanning techniques by the skilled persons from 2002 to 2007. Van Bertalanffy growth function was applied for estimating growth curves on these traits. Carcass traits and chest girth would be linearly increased by body condition score. It might be used for multiplicative correction factors for pre- adjustment on the body condition scores. Growth pattern on chest girth would be quickly reached to mature size and stable on after reached to asymptotic mature size. Longissimus muscle area would also be reached to mature size but little smoother than chest girth. Otherwise, growth curve on backfat thickness would be steadily increasing up to 7 years of age. It also showed large individual difference by way of mean square error. Marbling score would be steadily increased but sharper than those on backfat thickness. It would be reached to mature size up at 5 years of age. Those growth curves would be used for correcting function on age at investigating on genetic evaluation system.
As the demand for a clean energy to replace fossil fuel being depleted increases, hydrogen energy is considered as a promising candidate for future energy source. Water electrolysis which produces hydrogen has high energy efficiency and stability but still has a large overpotential for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). In this study, $Co_3O_4$ catalysts with different morphology were prepared by spray pyrolysis from solutions which contain Co precursor and various organic additives (urea, sucrose, and citric acid), followed by post heat treatment. For the catalysts synthesized, X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements were performed to identify their crystal structure. Morphology and surface shape of the catalysts were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Surface area and pore volume were examined by nitrogen adsortpion & desorption tests and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was conducted to confirm nitrogen doping. Linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) was carried out to investigate OER activity of $Co_3O_4$ catalysts. As a result, bare-$Co_3O_4$ which has high surface area and small particle size determined by spray pyrolysis showed high activity toward OER.
The purpose of this' study was to compare surface roughness and morphologic changes after use of various plaque control devices to titanium implant surfaces. The study materials were 6 ITI titanium implants($Bonefit^{(R)}$) and 5 plaque control devices. 6 implants were divided into 6 different groups and instrumented by each plaque control devices as follows. 1) Group I : untreated control 2) Group II : Titanium curette(Titanium $curette^{(R)}$, 3i) 80 vertical/horizontal strokes 3) Group III : Plastic curette($Implacare^{(R)}$, Hu-Friedy) 80 vertical/horizontal strokes 4) Group N : Plastic tip-ultrasonic scaler($Amdent^{(R)}$, Amdent) 160 seconds 5) Group V : Rotating interdental brush($Identobrush^{(R)}$, Identoflex) 160 seconds 6) Group VI : Abrasive rubber cup polisher($Zircate^{(R)}$, Prophy paste, Dentsply) 160 sec-onds. All specimens were prepared for evaluation by surface roughness tester, optical stereomicroscopy(OM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The Ra and Rt mean values of the tested specimens were 1) Group I ($Ra=0.170{\pm}0.007{\mu}m$, $Rt=1.297{\pm}0.016{\mu}m$) 2) Group II ($Ra=0.209{\pm}0.006{\mu}m$, $Rt=1.602{\pm}0.110{\mu}m$) 3) Group III ($Ra=0.179{\pm}0.001{\mu}m$, $Rt=1.429{\pm}0.055{\mu}m$) 4) Group IV ($Ra=0.182{\pm}0.005{\mu}m$, $Rt=1.511{\pm}0.085{\mu}m$) 5) Group V ($Ra=0.301{\pm}0.008{\mu}m$, $Rt=1.882{\pm}0.131{\mu}m$) 6) Group VI ($Ra=0.147{\pm}0.010{\mu}m$, $Rt=1.059{\pm}0.021{\mu}m$) In Ra values, experimental group II, V, VI were statistically significant different when compared with control. OM and SEM observation showed that experimental group III, IV were minimal changes when compared with control and group VI was smoothest among other experimental groups. The results suggested that plastic curette and plastic tip-ultrasonic scaler were predictable devices to titanium implant surface.

The subject of this study is the Maae Buddha statue in granodiorite of the Mesozoic Cretaceous period, which is concerned about stability as a standing stone cultural property located in ◯◯-dong, Gyeongsangbuk-do. For stability analysis, three-dimensional face mapping, geological properties of joints, three-dimensional scanning, ultrasonic velocity, polarization microscopy, electron microscopy analysis and XRD analysis were performed. In addition, the safety factor of the Maaebul was calculated by analyzing the damage status investigation, stereographic projection analysis, rock classification, and limit equilibrium analysis. The types and scales of damage and possible collapse by section depend on the degree of weathering of the rock and the orientation and characteristics of the joints, but wedge-failure and toppling-failure are expected to be small-scale. The safety factor of Maaebul in dry and wet conditions is less than 1.2, so stability is concerned. The types of damage were mainly observed, such as exfoliation, cracking, granular decomposition, and vegetation growth. The Maaebul rock is granodiorite, and the surface discoloration materials are K, Fe, and Mg. The 4 sets of joints are developed, J1 is tensile joint and the others are shear joint. The uniaxial compressive strength estimated by ultrasonic exploration is 514kgf/cm2, which corresponds to most soft rocks and some weathered rocks. Rock classification(RMR) is estimated to be grade 5, very poor rock mass. These technique along with the existing methods of safety diagnosis of cultural properties are expected to be a reasonable tool for objective interpretation and stability review of stone cultural properties.
