Luminescence Characteristics of Ba2+ Co-Doped Sr2SiO4:Eu Yellow Phosphor for Light Emitting Diodes (LED용 Ba2+ Co-Doped Sr2SiO4:Eu 황색 형광체의 발광특성)

  • We have synthesized a $Eu^{2+}-activated\;{(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_4$ yellow phosphor and investigated the development of blue LEDs by combining the phosphor with a InGaN blue LED chip (${\lambda}_{em}$=405 nm). The InGaN-based ${(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_{4}:Eu$ LED lamp shows two bands at 405 nm and 550 nm. The 405 nm emission band is due to a radiative recombination from a InGaN active layer. This 405 nm emission was used as an optical transition of the ${(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_{4}:Eu$ phosphor. The 550 nm emission band is ascribed to a radiative recombination of $Eu^{2+}$ impurity ions in the ${(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_4$ host matrix. In the preparation of UV Yellow LED Lamp with ${(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_{4}:Eu$ yellow phosphor, the highest luminescence efficiency was obtained at the epoxy-to-yellow phosphor ratio of 1:0.45. At this ratio, the CIE chromaticity was x=0.4097 and y=0.5488.

  • In this paper, a flushing system with automatic opening and closing function of the toilet cover was studied. It works by an infrared sensor attached to the cover is detected or not. When the infrared sensor of the open function detects it, the servomotor is driven on the toilet cover to raise the cover, and when the infrared sensor with the close function detects the infrared sensor, the cover is set to be lowered. A tilt sensor is attached to the inside of the cover to operate when the cover goes down, and when this is activated, the servomotor connected to the toilet lever opens the stopper of the supply port and sends water down. In addition, we minimized the inconveniences for the next user when they use the toilet by using the non-contact water level sensor and LED function to notice the water is clogged during the flushing process. Also, we implemented UV-LED function to prevent bacterial growth while the toilet is closed.

UV and visible emission intensity control of ZnO thin films for light emitting device applications (발광소자 응용을 위한 ZnO 박막의 자외선 및 가시광 발광 세기 제어)

  • ZnO thin films on (001) sapphire substrates have been deposited by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) technique for light emitting device applications. We have controlled the emission intensity of UV and visible light, depending on film thickness and various post-annealing time. UV emission became strong as the thickness of ZnO thin films increased. The intensity of visible light was strong as post-annealing temperature increased. The optical properties of the ZnO thin films were characterized by PL(photoluminescence) and the structural properties of the ZnO were characterized by XRD for the application of ZnO light emission device.

  • Sunscreens have been in use for about 70years and 'tanning without burning' was propagated as their major advantage. The objective changed from 'getting a tanned skin' to 'getting skin protection' since UV have been proposed to a major risk of skin cancer and the risk of developing skin cancer related also to non-burning UVA. The new expectation from consumers has triggered the development of new UV absorbers and led to the approval of 7 new, organic UV absorbers in Europe over the last few years. The significant progress due to these new UV absorbers will be discussed in this report. These UV absorbers provide an efficient absorption of UV radiation (UVB and/or UVA) and easily incorporate in any kind of formulation. These are also safe, i.e. devoid of adverse effects. These new filters give the formulators new possibilities to cover the whole UV range iron 290 to 400 nm, and also to use less filter due to the boosting effect of the new UVA and broadband fitters.

  • $KSrPO_4$ and $Sr_3(Al_2O_5)Cl_2$ phosphors doped with $Eu^{2+}$ emit a blue and orange-yellow luminescence under ultraviolet (UV) excitation at ~ 400 nm, respectivel, which can be used for making white light emitting diodes.

  • We have fabricated a new-type high-brightness phosphor consisting of a sol-gel derived glass with finely dispersed semiconductor nanocrystals. It is possible to obtain visible light of any wavelength with a single UV irradiation. The glass firmly adheres to a glass substrate. Therefore it can easily be used for developing devices.

  • Silver nanowires (AgNWs) intrinsically possess high conductivity, ductility, and network structure percolated in a low density, which have led to many advanced applications of transparent and flexible electronics. Most of these applications require patterning of AgNWs, for which photolithographic and printing-based techniques have been widely used. However, several drawbacks such as high cost and complexity of the process disturb its practical application with patterning AgNWs. Herein, we propose a novel method for the patterning of AgNWs by employing UV-curable adhesive tape with a structure of liner/adhesive layer/polyolefin (PO) film and UV irradiation to simplify the process. First, the UV-curable adhesive tape was attached to AgNWs/polyurethane (PU), and then selectively exposed to UV irradiation by using a photomask. Subsequently, the UV-curable adhesive tape was peeled off and consequently AgNWs were patterned on PU substrate. This facile method is expected to be applicable to the fabrication of a variety of low-cost, shape-deformable transparent and wearable devices.

  • 의료용으로 사용되는 조명은 의사가 환자의 환부에 대해 정확히 판단할 수 있도록 조명으로서의 역할을 할 수 있어야 한다. 이러한 이유로 의료용에 사용되는 조명은 일반 조명으로 사용되는 광원에 비해 보다 특별한 사양들이 요구되어 진다. 기존의 수술용 무영등으로 사용되어 지는 광원은 대부분이 할로겐이나 제논 램프를 이용한 광원이었다. 할로겐이나 제논 램프의 경우는 100-1,000시간 정도의 수명을 가지고 있다. 이러한 광원들은 환자의 환부에 유해한 영향을 미칠 수 있는 UV 파장을 발생한다. 제논램프의 경우는 광원의 특성상 많은 양의 발열을 포함한다. 이러한 수명 및 발열 등의 문제를 가지고 있는 광원을 LED로 대체할 경우 LED가 가지고 있는 장점들을 수술용 무영등에 반영할 수 있다. LED광원은 다른 광원에 비해 장수명의 광원이며 인체에 유해한 파장을 거의 발생시키지 않는다. 또한 고연색성의 조명을 구현할 수 있으며 친환경적인 조명으로 구현할 수 있다. 이러한 LED의 장점을 고려하여 의료용 조명에 적용한다면 기존의 많은 의료용 조명을 LED로 대체할 수 있을 것이다.

  • TOP245P driver IC modeling technique are proposed for the LED Driver design. Analog behavioral model of TOP245P IC including the shunt regulator, under-voltage(UV) detection, over-voltage(OV) shut-down and SR flip-flop is developed by using PSPICE. The averaged-model and switching-model is applied to the LED driver simulation. The simulation results by the proposed TOP245P IC modeling technique are in good agreement with that in the data sheet and an experiment data.
