Polymerization and Preparation of Functional Ophthalmic Material Containing Carbon Nanoparticles

  • This research is conducted to create a functional hydrogel ophthalmic lens containing nanoparticles. Carbon nanoparticles and PEGMEMA are used as additives for the basic combination of HEMA, MA, and MMA, and the materials are copolymerized with EGDMA as the cross-linking agent and AIBN as the thermal initiator. The hydrogel lens is produced using a cast-mold method, and the materials are thermally polymerized at $100^{\circ}C$ for an hour. The polymerized lens sample is hydrated in a 0.9 % saline solution for 24 hours before the optical and physical characteristics of the lens are measured. The refractive index, water content, contact angle, light transmittance, and tensile strength are measured to evaluate the physical and optical characteristics of the hydrogel lens. The refractive index, water content, contact angle, UV-B light transmittance, UV-A light transmittance, visible light transmittance, tensile strength and breaking strength of the hydrogel lens polymer are 1.4019~1.4281, 43.05~51.18 %, $31.95{\sim}68.61^{\circ}$, 21.69~58.11 %, 35.59~84.26 %, 45.85~88.06 %, 0.1075~0.1649 kgf and 0.1520~0.2250 kgf, respectively. The results demonstrate an increase in refractive index, tensile strength and breaking strength and a decrease in contact angle and light transmittance. Furthermore, the visible light transmissibility is significantly increased at PEG 10 %. It is clear that this material can be used for high-performance ophthalmic lenses with wettability, ultraviolet ray blocking effect, and tensile strength.

동시스퍼터법에 의한 Ta 도핑된 $TiO_2$ 박박 합성과 광전극 특성 (Preparation of Ta-doped $TiO_2$ thin rums by co-sputtering and their photo-electrode properties)

  • 동시스퍼터법을 이용하여 Ta이 도핑된 $TiO_2$ 박막을 석영 및 ITO 기판위에 제작하였다. Ta의 도핑량은 동시스퍼터법에 의하여 조절되는 Ta 금속선 길이에 의하여 제어 되었다. Ta이 도핑된 $TiO_2$ 박막은 rutile상에서 anatase상으로 구조변화를 유발 시키며 고용체를 형성했다. Ta의 도핑량이 증가함에 따라 rutile상 보다는 anatase상이 많은 것으로 나타났다. XPS 분석에 따르면 도핑된 Ta은 금속이 아닌 $Ta_2O_5$의 산화물을 형성하는 것으로 나타났다. Ta이 도핑된 $TiO_2$ 전극에서는 자외선(UV) 영역을 포함하여 가시광(VIS) 영역의 빛의 조사에 광전류응답 특성을 발현하였다. 가시광선 영역에서 발현된 광전류 응답 특성은 Ta 도핑에 의하여 $TiO_2$ 밴드갭내에 불순물 준위의 형성에 기인한 것으로 사료된다.

  • Langmuir-Blodgett method is the best candidate for the development of the future molecular electronic devices. But, this molecular thin film devices requires the bulk properties that was influenced by the molecular arrangements and orientations. So, these are of current interest in molecular electronic device fabrications of new materials. In this experiment, the N-docosylquinolium-TCNQ LB films were deposited on the surface pressures of 30 mN/m and 45 mN/m. We measured the polarized UV/visible absorptions of deposited films for the study of the molecular arrangements and orientations. The polarized UV/visible absorption variation on the incidence and polarization angle of the LB film deposited on the surface pressure of 45 mN/m shown methodically variated. So, we concluded that the LB film deposited on 45 mN/mwas arranged better than that obtained at 30 mN/m.

디니트로실 몰리브덴 착물의 합성과 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Synthesis and Characterization of Dinitrosylmolybdenum Complexes)

  • 본 실험의 중성 화합물인 $[Mo(NO)_2L_2Cl_2]$$CH_2Cl_2$ 용매하에서 $[{Mo(NO)_2Cl_2}_n]$과 한자리 리간드를 반응시켜 얻었다. $[Mo(NO)_2L_4](ClO_4)_2$은 아세톤 용매하에서 중성$[Mo(NO)_2L_2Cl_2]$와 한자리 리간드의 반응으로 얻어진다. 합성에 이용된 리간드는 4-dimethylaminopyridine(dmap), pyridine(py) 그리고 isoquinoline(isoq)을 사용하였다. 합성한 cis-dinitrosylmolybdenum 착물은 elemental analysis, infrared, UV-Visible spectroscopy 그리고 $^1H\;NMR$ 등을 이용하여 그 특성을 조사하였다. 적외선 스펙트럼은 모든 착물이 팔면체 구조로서 두 개의 NO기가 cis 위치로 배위되어 있음을 나타낸다.

Yellow Light-Emitting Poly(p-phenylenevinylene) Derivative with Balanced Charge Injection Property

  • A new luminescent polymer, poly{1,4-phenylene-1,2-ethenediyl-2'-[2"-(4'"-octyloxyphenyl)-(5"-yl)-1",3",4"-oxadiazole]-1,4-phenylene-1,2-ethenediyl-2,5-bis-dodecyloxy-1,4-phenylene-1,2-ethenediyl} (Oxd-PPV), was synthesized by the Heck coupling reaction. Electron withdrawing pendant, conjugated 1,3,4-oxadiazole (Oxd), is on the vinylene unit. The band gap of the polymer figured out from the UV-visible spectrum was 2.23 eV and the polymer film shows bright yellow emission maximum at 552 nm. The electroluminescence (EL) maximum of double layer structured device (ITO/PEDOT:PSS/Oxd-PPV/Al) appeared at 553 nm. Relative PL quantum yield of Oxd-PPV film is 3.6 times higher than that of MEH-PPV film. The HOMO and LUMO energy levels of Oxd-PPV figured out from the cyclic voltammogram and the UV-visible spectrum are -5.32 and -3.09 eV, respectively, so that more balanced hole and electron injection efficiency can be expected compared to MEH-PPV. A double layer EL of Oxd-PPV has an maximum efficiency of 0.15 cd/A and maximum brightness of 464 cd/$m^2$.

Characterization of PEG-conjugated AuNPs by Using ToF-SIMS Imaging, Spectroscopic and Statistical Techniques

  • Various organic- and bio-conjugated nanoparticles have been studied extensively for biological applications in medical diagnoses and drug delivery systems. Gold nanoparticles (AuNP) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) are known biocompatible materials to be used in vivo and are becoming increasingly important in biomedical applications. In this work, we investigated the stability of PEG-conjugated AuNPs, dialysis and centrifuge effects after synthesis or pegylation of AuNPs as a function of elapsed time by using ToF-SIMS imaging technique along with dynamic light scattering (DLS), UV-visible absorption spectroscopic and statistical analyses. Roughly 15-nm-sized AuNPs were synthesized in a citrate-conjugated form, and then converted into the thiol-terminated PEG (O-[2-(3-Mercaptopropionylamino)ethyl]-O'-methylpolyethyleneglycol, M.W.=5 kDa) form. Based on our data, we will show that ToF-SIMS imaging analysis along with DLS, UV-visible absorption and statistical analyses would be a useful method to evaluate stability of PEG-conjugated AuNPs in various environmental conditions.

스핀코팅 방법으로 제작된 ZnO 박막의 단계적 후열처리에 따른 구조적 및 광학적 특성

  • 스핀코팅방법으로 증착된 ZnO 박막의 단계적 후열처리에 따른 구조적, 광학적 특성에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 일반적으로 ZnO 박막은 한 층을 증착한 후에, 유기물을 제거하기 위하여 전열처리를 수행한다. 본 연구에서는 ZnO 박막을 전열처리와 후열처리를 동시에 단계적으로 수행하였다. X-ray diffractometer, UV-visible spectrometer, photoluminescence를 이용하여 ZnO 박막의 구조적, 광학적 특성을 분석하였다. 모든 시료에서 표면은 직경이 약 20 nm인 둥근 입자들로 이루어져 있었다. X-ray diffraction 패턴은 $31^{\circ}$, $34^{\circ}$, $36^{\circ}$에서 나타났고, 이것은 각각 ZnO의 (100), (002), (101) 방향을 보여준다. 전열처리와 후열처리를 동시에 수행했을 경우, 자유엑시톤 재결합에 의해 3.2 eV에서 좁은 near-band-edge emission 피크가 나타났으며, 투과도 또한 향상되었다.

Study on the eletronic absorption and surface morphology of phthalocyanine double layer thin films

  • The elecronic absorption and surface morphology evolution of two types of molecular double layer thin films, copper phthalocyanine(CuPc) layer deposited on top of chloro[subphtalocyaninato]boron(III) (SubPc) layer, denoted as SubPc/CuPc, and vice versa, at various thicknesses were invertigated using ultraviolet(UV)-visible spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Both types of double layer structures showed similar broadened absorption patterns in UV-visible region which were well consistent with fitted spectra by a simple linear combination of single layer absorption spectra of two materials. In contrast, the surface morphology of double layer structures was dependent on the order of deposition. For CuPc/SubPc structures, the surface morphology was characterized by elongated grains, characteristic of SubPc thin films, indicating the morphological influence of underlying CuPc layer on subsequent SubPc layer was not large. For SubPc/CuPc structures, however, the underlying SubPc layer acted as a morphological template for the subsequently deposited CuPc layer. It was also observed that the grain size of CuPc layer varied by the thickness of underlying SubPc layer.

Rutile-$TiO_2$를 이용한 Mordant Yellow-12의 광촉매 분해반응 (Photocatalytic Destruction of a Mordant Yellow-12 Using Rutile-$TiO_2$)

  • $TiO_2$ 촉매 하에 염료 Mordant Yellow-12를 광촉매 분해하였다. 이때 사용한 광원은 각각 15-W, 21-W와 26-W 형광 램프를 이용하였다. 분해 정도는 자외선-가시광선 분광기와 pH 메타를 이용하였다. 실험 결과 반응 1시간 후에 각 광원에 따라 각각 17%, 24%, 34% 이상의 분해를 보였고 완전히 분해되는데는 각각 3, 4, 5시간 걸렸다. pH의 변화는 흡광도의 변화와 같이 급격한 결과를 나타내지 않았다. 분해 반응 속도는 15-W 보다 26-W에서 2배의 빠를 분해 반응속도를 보였다.

Synthesis and Characterization of Soluble Polyaniline and TiO2 Composite

  • Soluble polyaniline was synthesized by attaching titanium isoproxide ($Ti(OPr)_4$) to the amine group of the aniline. Approximately 1 to 1 molar ratio of aniline and $Ti(OPr)_4$ was mixed and polymerized with ammonium persulfate. The FTIR result showed clear difference between $TiO_2$-aniline composite ($TiO_2An$) and $TiO_2$-polyaniline composite ($TiO_2PAn$). Although the $TiO_2An$ had negligible UV-visible absorption, the $TiO_2PAn$ showed strong absorption in the UV-visible region. Photoluminescence (PL) peaks of $TiO_2An$ were shifted toward red with the reduction of the excitation energy, which could be due to the multiple emission centers. The luminescence peak shift stopped at 501 nm. The PL spectra of $TiO_2PAn$ exhibited three emission peaks at 2.88 eV (430 nm), 2.48 eV (501 nm) and 2.22 eV (558 nm). The new emission center (2.22 eV) was observed after polymerization. Field emission scanning electron microscope image showed crack-free composite film.
