  • UV curable transparent hard coating materials have been developed to improve the mechanical and optical properties of PET substrate. The coating materials were synthesized using various urethane acrylate oligomers, monomers, photo initiators, and leveling agents. The materials were coated on PET substrates and UV cured. The hard coated PET films were shown to have the good scratch resistance and transparency. When the urethane acrylate oligomer with more functional groups was introduced into the coating solution, the mechanical and optical properties were improved. However the higher concentration of 9-functional oligomer resulted in the decrease of workability. The addition of trimethylolpropane ethoxylate$(EO/OH)_9$ triacrylate(TMPETA) to coating solution improved the workability and properties. As a result, the UV cured film from the formulation of urethane acrylate oligomer with 9-functional groups, TMPETA as a monomer, IRACURE 754 as a photo initiator and BYK-340 as a leveling agent showed the best mechanical and optical properties in this study.

  • Several dual-curable acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) were synthesized by the radical polymerization of acrylic monomers containing benzophenone, hydroxyl, and alkyl groups. The optimum extent of UV-induced cure was determined by varying the content of the benzophenone groups (the photoinitiator) from 0.5 to 1.5 wt%. The weight average molecular weight of the polymers obtained ranged from 300,000 to 700,000 amu. The coated pressure-sensitive adhesives were cured either by short UV exposure to induce the grafting of acrylic polymers, or by heating for 6 hat $60^{\circ}C$ to promote the reactions between the polyisocyanates and hydroxyl groups. The dual-curing behavior was determined by monitoring both processes quantitatively by infrared spectroscopy. The developed dual-curable acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives were found to compensate for the limitations in UV-induced curing of thick coatings.

  • UV-curable electrolytes inks were prepared by dissolving [2-[(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethyl]propylaminium bromide (MEPAB), 1,5-[bis(2-methacryloxyethyl)dimethyl ammono]penthane dibromide (MDAPD), hexafunctional reactive oligomer (SP1013), trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) and a photoinitiator in methanol/2-methoxyethanol. The compositions of the electrolyte inks were MEPAB/MDAPD/SP1013/TMPTA=6/24/17.2/12.8, 15/15/17.2/12.8 and 24/6/17.2/12.8. Humid-membranes were deposited on a gold electrode/alumina electrode using an ink-jet printer equipped with a UV lamp followed by immediate UV curing. The humidity-sensing characteristics including hysteresis, frequency and temperature dependence, response time and water durability were estimated.

  • The recent spotlight on electronic touch-screen display, a rapid breakthrough in the information society is evolving. Touch panel input device such as a keyboard or mouse without the use of, the on-screen character or a specific location or object on the person's hand touches a particular feature to identify the location of a panel is to be handled. The touch screen on the touch panel is used in the Ag paste is used mostly for low-curable paste. The thermal-curing paste according to the drying process of thermal energy consumption and improve the working environment of organic solvents have problems. In this study, Ag paste used in the non-thermal curing friendly and cost-effective UV curable paste was prepared. Current commercially available thermal-curable binder, was used instead of the flow characteristics of UV-curable oligomers and monomers with functional groups to give a single conductive Ag paste with the addition of a pattern could be formed. Ag paste as a result, thermal-curing adhesive, hardness, resistance and excellent reproduction of fine patterns and was available with screen printing environmentally friendly could see its potential as a patterning technology.

  • Effect of disperse dyeing on flame retardant finishing of PET fabrics via UV curing using three UV curable phosphorous-containing methacrylates and ammonium polyphosphate(APP) was investigated. The dye fixation and flame retardancy of PET fabrics did not change significantly with excellent durability to five laundering cycles irrespective of the dyeing and finishing sequence. However, the flame retardancy of Pekoflam-treated fabrics was lower than that of the UV treated and decreased substantially when heat treatment was carried out before the dyeing. The dyeability of the flame-retardant PET fabrics was not affected in the case of UV curing of the methacrylates alone. However, UV finishing after the dyeing caused significant decrease in K/S and ${\Delta}E$ due to changed refraction and inherent color of surface coating of the UV curable monomers and APP. Whereas the heat treatment with Pekoflam decreased both color fastness to laundering and sublimation, surprisingly the UV finish of PET fabrics before and after the dyeing increased the color fastness probably resulting from the presence of photopolymerized surface layer on the fabrics.

  • UV-curable hydrophilic coating solutions were prepared by mixing colloidal silica dispersed in alcohol with an acrylic monomer, pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA). Hydrophilic coating films were also prepared by spin coating the hydrophilic coating solutions on PC substrates and UV curing for 10 minutes subsequently. The effect of the amount of colloidal silica in the coating solutions, which was varied from 10 g to 50 g, was investigated on the hydrophilic properties of UV-cured coating films. The results showed that the amount of colloidal silica had a great influence on the hydrophilic properties of UV-cured coating films and the coating film prepared with 30 g of colloidal silica showed a lowest contact angle of $37^{\circ}$ and an excellent pencil hardness of H.

  • UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesives were prepared by blending acrylic copolymer, copolymerized with butyl acrylate, acrylic acid and methyl methacrylate by solution polymerization, and trimethylolpropane triacrylate. The PSAs were evaluated by adhesion strength with varying UV dose, and also glass transition temperature ($T_g$) of PSAs were measured. When exposed on UV irradiation, the PSAs showed the decreased adhesion strength and increased $T_g$. And following UV irradiation, the PSAs did not leave any residue on wafer after peel off PSA.

  • The UV nanoimprint technology uses the UV light as the energy source. Because the imprint process is carried out in room temperature and low pressure, this technology has its own merits compared to the thermal nanoimprint. However, in UV nanoimprint technology, a resin which has low viscosity is essential for the improvement of accuracy. In this research, a resin (named as IMS01) which has relatively low viscosity was developed. And a measurement system was developed in order to measure the degree of cure of the resin. The measurement system which is composed of FT-IR, UV light source and optical guide can measure the degree of cure in real time. From the experimental results, it was found that the IMS01 is cured more rapidly than existing resin (PAK01).

  • UV curable adhesives with different acrylic functionalities were synthesized for temporary bonding and debonding process in 3D multi-chip packaging process. The aim is to study various factors which have an influence on UV curing. The properties and curing behaviors were investigated by gel fraction, peel strength, probe tack, and shear adhesion failure temperature. The results show that the properties and curing behaviors are dependent on not only acrylic functionalities of binders but also UV doses and coating thickness.
