Trivalent cerium-ion-doped $Y_3(Al,\;Ga)_5O_{12}$ nanoparticle phosphor nanoparticles were synthesized using the reverse micelle process. The Ce doped $Y_3(Al,\;Ga)_5O_{12}$ particles were obtained from nitrate solutions dispersed in the nanosized aqueous domains of a micro emulsion consisting of cyclohexane as the oil phase and poly(oxyethylene) nonylphenyl ether (Igepal CO-520) as the non-ionic surfactant. The crystallinity, morphology, and thermal properties of the synthesized $Y_3(Al,\;Ga)_5O_{12}:Ce^{3+}$ powders were characterized by thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy. The crystallinity, morphology, and chemical states of the ions were characterized; the photo-physical properties were studied by taking absorption, excitation, and emission spectra for various concentrations of cerium. The photo physical properties of the synthesized $Y_3(Al,\;Ga)_5O_{12}:Ce^{3+}$ powders were studied by taking the excitation and emission spectra for various concentrations of cerium. The average particle size of the synthesized YAG powders was below $1{\mu}m$. Excitation spectra of the $Y_3Al_5O_{12}$ and $Y_3Al_{3.97}Ga_{1.03}O_{12}$ samples were 485 nm and 475 nm, respectively. The emission spectra of the $Y_3Al_5O_{12}$ and $Y_3Al_{3.97}Ga_{1.03}O_{12}$ were around 560 nm and 545 nm, respectively. $Y_3(Al,\;Ga)_5O_{12}:Ce^{3+}$ is a red-emitting phosphor; it has a high efficiency for operation under near UV excitation, and may be a promising candidate for photonic applications.
The cobalt titanate, $CoTiO_3$ nanoparticles have been prepared by calcinations of precursor obtained from a mixture of $TiO_2$ and $Co(OH)_2$ in aqueous cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) solution. The nanoparticles were investigated with X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis (TGA/DTA) to determine the crystallite size and the phase composition. The spectroscopic characterizations of these nanoparticles were also done with UV-Vis spectroscopy and FT-Raman spectroscopy. XRD patterns show that $CoTiO_3$ phase was formed at calcinations temperature above 600 ${^{\circ}C}$. UV-Vis absorption spectra indicate that the $CoTiO_3$ nanoparticles have significant red shift to the visible region (400-700 nm) with $\lambda_{max}$ = 500 nm compared to pure $TiO_2$ powder ($\lambda_{max}$ = 320 nm). The new absorption peaks (absorption at 696, 604, 520, 478,456, 383, 336, 267, 238, 208 $c m ^{-1}$), which were not appeared in FT-Raman spectra of P-25, also confirm the formation of Ti-O-Co bonds at above 600 ${^{\circ}C}$ and just not the mixtures of titanium dioxide with cobalt oxides.
Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were conjugated with gallic acid (GA) at various concentrations between 30 and $150{\mu}M$ and characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-Vis spectroscopy (UV-VIS). The anticancer activities of the gallic acid-stabilized gold nanoparticles against well-differentiated (M213) and moderately differentiated (M214) adenocarcinomas were then determined using a neutral red assay. The GA mechanism of action was evaluated using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) microspectroscopy. Distinctive features of the FTIR spectra between the control and GA-treated cells were confirmed by principal component analysis (PCA). The surface plasmon resonance spectra of the GNPs had a maximum absorption at 520 nm, whereas GNPs-GA shifted the maximum absorption values. In an in vitro study, the complexed GNPs-GA had an increased ability to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells that was statistically significant (P<0.0001) in both M213 and M214 cells compared to GA alone, indicating that the anticancer activity of GA can be improved by conjugation with GNPs. Moreover, PCA revealed that exposure of the tested cells to GA resulted in significant changes in their cell membrane lipids and fatty acids, which may enhance the efficacy of this anticancer activity regarding apoptosis pathways.
One-phase method to prevent the initial formation of Ag(I) thiolate layered materal from the mixture of $AgNO_3$ and thiols was previously developed to generate TP (Thiolate-Protected)-nanosilver. In this modified method, $AgNO_3$ is added to the mixtures of $NaBH_4$ and thiols in ethanol. This method was so successful that it was applied to synthesize TP-nanogold and nanoplatinum. The synthesis and characterization of these nanoparticles by ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectra, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) pictures, X-ray powder differaction (XRD) patterns and infrared(IR) spectra are described. The results show that colloidal nanoparticles are spherical or oval shape and the mean sizes for TP-nanogold and nanoplatinum are about 3~7 nm and below 2 nm, respectively. The conformation of polymethylene [$-(CH_2)_7-$] sequence in octanethiolate attached to nanogold was elucidated as trans.
1-Methylimidazole-2-thiol, as a kind of mercaptans, is a typical organic pollutant which has not been efficiently removed. In this study, titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) photocatalyst based on magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was synthesized via hydrothermal and sol-gel methods. The as-prepared photocatalyst was extensively characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray energy diffraction spectrum (EDS), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-vis DRS) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). This photocatalyst of $TiO_2$/$Fe_3O_4$/MWCNTs was proved to exhibit high photocatalytic efficiency and the photodegradation rate could reach nearly 82.7% for the degradation of 1-methylimidazole-2-thiol under ultraviolet irradiation. In addition, the results demonstrated that inorganic ions had a negative impact on photodegradation of 1-methylimidazole-2-thiol to varying degrees. Moreover, pH had a great and complex effect on photocatalytic degradation of 1-methylimidazole-2-thiol under ultraviolet irradiation.
Silver nanoparticles coated with silica can be obtained by the reduction of $AgNO_3$ with hydrazine in the presence of NaOH-stabilized, active silicic acid (polysilicic acid). The size of the silver nanoparticles and the silica shell thicknesses were affected by varying the hydrazine content, the active silicic acid content and the experimental method (e.g. hydrothermal method). Typically, silver nanoparticles sized around 40 nm were aggregated, connected by silica. The presence of peaks centered around 400 nm in UV-vis spectra corresponds to the surface plasmon resonance of silver nanoparticles. The size of the aggregated silver nanoparticles increased with increasing hydrazine concentration. Under hydrothermal conditions at $150^{\circ}C$ the formation of individual silica particles was observed and the sizes of the silver nanoparticles were reduced. The hydrothermal treatment of silver nanoparticles at $180^{\circ}C$ gives a well-defined Ag@$SiO_2$ core-shell in aggregated silica sol particles. The absorption band observed at around 412 nm were red-shifted with respect to the uncoated silver nanoparticles (${\lambda}_{max}$ = 399 nm) due to the larger refractive index of silica compared to that of water. The formation of silver nanoparticles coated with silica is confirmed by UV-visible absorption spectra, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) data.

Nanocomposites of gold nanoparticles and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were prepared by electrostatic interaction. Gold nanopartic1es were stabilized by polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and poly(sodium-4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) in aqueous medium, and MWNTs were modified by poly(diallyldimethylammonium)chloride (PDDA) in water. The as-perpared Au-MWNT nanocomposites were structurally and electrically characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV/Vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and cyclo voltammetry (CV). UV/Vis spectra of Au-MWNT nanocomposites showed the characteristic surface plasmon bands in the range of ~515nm, depending on the stabilizers. There is only slight change on the band shape with variation of stabilizing agents for gold nanoparticles. Through FE-SEM and TEM images, the distribution of gold, nanoparticles on the sidewalls of MWNTs was deliberately investigated on Au-MWNT nanocomposites treated with different stabilizers. XPS and CV showed redistribution of electron densities and changes in the binding energy states of nanopartic1es in nanocomposite respectively.
Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composite photocatalysts were prepared with titanium (IV) n-butoxide (TNB) by a sol-gel method. The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscope (TEM), specific surface area (BET), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The photocatalytic activities were evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) solution. XRD patterns of the composites showed that the Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composite contained a typical single and clear anatase phase. The surface properties shown by SEM present a characterization of the texture on Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composites and showed a homogenous composition in the particles for the titanium sources used. The EDX spectra for the elemental identification showed the presence of C and Ti with strong Fe peaks for the Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composite. From the photocatalytic results, the excellent activity of the Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composites for degradation of methylene blue under UV light irradiation could be attributed to both the effects between photocatalytic reaction of the supported $TiO_2$, decomposition of the organometallic reaction by the Fe compound and energy transfer effects such as electron and light of the fullerene.

Cadmium 소오스로는 Cd(CIO$_4$)$_2$.6$H_2O$(Cadmium perchlorate hydrate-Aldrich)를 사용하였고 Tellurium 소오스로는 A1$_2$Te$_3$(Aluminum telluride-CERAC)와 H$_2$SO$_4$가 반응하여 H$_2$Te gas가 주입되도록 하였다.
Here, utilizing rhodamine B (RhB) as standard color dye, we examined the photo degradation proficiency of $Ag_2Se-Graphene-TiO_2$ nanocomposites under visible light irradiation; samples were prepared by ultrasonication techniques and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopic investigation and UV-Vis absorbance spectra examination. Our outcomes demonstrate that the $Ag_2Se-G-TiO_2$ nanocomposite showed significant photodegradation efficiency as compared with those of $TiO_2-G$ and $Ag_2Se-G$, with around 85.2% of Rhodamine B (RhB) degraded after 180 min. It is concluded that the $Ag_2Se-G-TiO_2$ nanocomposite is a competent candidate for dye pollutants.
