User Experience(UX) of Facebook: Focusing on Users' Eye Movement Pattern and Advertising Contents (Facebook의 사용자경험연구: 사용자의 시선경로와 광고콘텐츠를 중심으로)

  • This study examines subjects' eye movement pattern and surveys their attitudes to the exposed advertisements on the Facebook. Different from the F-shaped pattern of the typical Web pages, users' eye movements on the Facebook have shown a rough H-shape. Even though a large number of users have shown F-shaped pattern on the ordinary Web pages in order to skip the contents of a Web, subjects' eye-movement pattern on the Facebook has H -shaped pattern due to the unique User Interface (UI) of the Facebook. With the right side and vertical arrangement of ads on the Facebook, users skip the page with having a large H-shaped pattern. In addition, this study set four AOIs(Area of Interest) that are advertising sections comprised on the Facebook Web page and measured fixation length within the AOIs then surveyed subjects' attitudes about the exposed ads. Through the experiment and survey, this study offers the optimum advertising position that can attract Facebook users' attention. As the result of experiment and survey, the second ad has the subjects' highest attitude to advertising and fourth ad is the next effectiveness and first and third ad followed. This study highlights the key implications to provide better user experiences(UX) and marketing strategies to users who are the consumers of companies and organizations which have a plan to put their advertising on the Facebook.

  • The objectives of this research is to compare UX elements influencing the satisfaction of users in Korea and North America according to product types of mobile commerce services, to determine UX INDEX suitable for each type of service, and to derive positively influencing UI factors through analyzing the relationship between UX INDEX and UX design detail factors. This research showed that there was difference in perceived reliability according to selling product types and there was difference in both perceived usefulness and reliability according to users in Korea and North America. Also, this research found out that, in analysis of relationship between UX INDEX and UX design detail factors, UI factors to understand a service structure generally showed close relationship but factors such as troubleshooting and help showed difference between users in Korea and users in North America.

  • Digital TV broadcasting technology is recognized as a very encouraging technological development by koreans because of high-definition, multi-channel and interactive services which would broaden the viewers choice and promote people's prosperity. The technological development of digital TV service is a drastic change for people's convenience and would be a major media of‘e-government’in Korea. Digital TV Program UI will affect to people's esthetic sense and information efficiency. The information search pattern in TV is different from it of computer which has lead interactive media so far This research verifies the reasonable information display method through the usability test based on former related researches. For the case study, Interactive EPG design of SkyLife is selected and reviewed. This research includes the design development of interactive EPG of DVB-MHP.

  • The Web-based project is seriously not efficient area at software engineering. In order to develop a Web-based system, UI(User Interface) designers usually first design display layout and then business logic developers bring to complete the coding of the display layout source. In the case of maintenance, it goes through the same process. This kinds of Web-based software development method were proposed by the various methods same as the tag library of JSP. But there are many problems to apply them and they are low productive comparing to the C/S based software development method. WFS(Web Form System), which is suggested on this thesis, separates UI design from business logic on a Web project and offers the better environment to develop Web-based software. Eventually WFS will improve the productivity to develop Web-based software.

  • The research for a 3-axial accelerometer sensor has increased dramatically in the fields of cellular phone, PDA, etc. In this paper, we develop a human walking detection algorithm using 3-axial accelerometer sensor and a user interface system to show the activity expenditure in real-time. To measure a walking number more correctly in a variety of walking activities including walking, walking in place, running, slow walking, we propose a new walking number detection algorithm using adaptive threshold value. In addition, we calculate the activity expenditure base on counted walking number and display calculated activity expenditure on UI in real-time. From the experimental results, we could obtain that the detection rate of proposal algorithm is higher than that of existing algorithm using a fixed threshold value about $5{\sim}10%$. Especially, it could be found out high detection rate in walking in place.

  • In this paper, calculation methods of resistance of the ship to be towed and towline tension are discussed. When the vessel is fallen into dead ship condition then appropriate towing force have to be estimated to move the vessel from accident place to safe area. In this research, resistance of the ship to be towed and the tow hawser were considered to estimate total towline tension. Polynomial interpolation method is also applied to estimate additional hydrodynamic resistance of towline. Finally, UI program to calculate the resistance and total towline tension is developed. The developed program based on the research results is effective and convenient to use.

  • We categorize partnership types between network operators and a global video streaming or over-the-top service provider, Netflix from 2011 to the first quarter 2018. The options are based on the integration of over-the-top (OTT), Netflix with pay TV and telecommunication operators in the form of carrier billing, access to over-the-top (OTT) via devices or the development of their tariff plans. Options of the Type 3, 'cooperation' or the Type 4, 'agreement' entails a kind of the technical involvement between two partners and commercial agreement. The types of partnership are evolving from one to others. Some partnerships have characteristics of more than one type. The majority of technical or service integration cooperation of Type 3 entail bundling and marketing promotion of Type 2 and Type 1. Similarly, the 'agreement' of Type 4, co-branded or white-label service initiative entail tariff or device user interface (UI) integration of the 'cooperation' of Type 3 and joint marketing initiatives of Type 1.

  • RAON은 우라늄과 같은 무거운 이온을 가속시키는 한국형 중이온 가속기로서 현재 양산에 필요한 실험 시설이 구축되고 있다. 이온원을 생성하고 생성된 중이온 빔을 손실 없이 가속시키기 위해서는 빔의 경로인 입사기장치, 가속장치, 실험장치에서 요구하는 최적의 진공 설계가 이루어져야 하며, 이를 제어하기 위해 진공 기기들과의 데이터 통신 및 기기를 보호하기 위한 인터록 로직을 구성하여야 한다. RAON의 진공부 인터록 로직 및 제어 시퀀스는 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)으로 구성되며, Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) 환경에 통합되어 중앙 제어 시스템에서 관리됨과 동시에 Control System Studio (CSS)를 통해 모니터링 될 것이다. 이를 위해서는 CSS 및 PLC 와 데이터를 송수신할 수 있는 EPICS IOC를 구성하여야 한다. 본 문서에서는 진공 기기들의 정보를 로컬 PLC에서 수집하고, 진공 상태 및 진공 기기들의 작동을 위한 User Interface (UI) 및 EPICS IOC를 구성하는 방법에 대해 논의할 것이다. 진공부 제어 사전 테스트를 위해 프로토 타입 진공 제어 시스템을 구성하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 추후 최적화 된 RAON의 진공 제어 시스템을 구축할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • The voyage data is very important for safety of ships, and duty being effectuated by the installation of voyage data record (VDR) on ships. VDR is a black-box, and it contains 14 kinds of voyage data as text. But it is not easy to understand when the accident happened because voyage data is saved as complicated texts. User interface (UI), analysis, visualization system, which works for assist to gather information about situation of accident, was developed. It will be possible to develop onboard ship monitoring and voyage prediction system by the VDR visualization system's development in near future.

  • 본 논문에서는 한글 X 윈도우 시스템의 개발 과정을 소개하고 이용 바탕으로 한 GUI의 한글화 방안을 제시한다. X 윈도우 시스템은 이식성이 높고 다양한 사용자 접속을 제공한다. 특히 소스가 거의 공개되어 있어 UNIX 워크스테이션의 표준 윈도우 시스템으로서의 위치를 굳혀가고 있다. 한글 X는 여기에 한글의 입출력 기능을 추가한 것이다. 현재 UNIX 와 X 윈도우를 기반으로 한 그래픽 사용자 접속 (GUI)을 표준화하려는 움직임이 세계적으로 높아가고 있다. OSF와 UI의 두 단체에서 각각 Motif와 OpenLook을 표준 GUI로 내놓고 있는데 이 두 GUI는 모두 나름대로의 지지 기반을 가지고 사용될 것으로 보인다. 때문에 한글 GUI의 개발은 시급하고 중요한 문제라고 할 수 있다. 한글 X의 개발은 X 윈도우 환경에서 한글을 사용할 수 있게 되었다는 것뿐만 아니라 GUI 한글화의 기반을 마련했다는 점에서 그 의의를 갖는다.
