  • Objectives : This research was performed to investigate the effects of Ukgansan pharmacopuncture(U-PA) of focal brain ischemia induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) in rats. Methods : The subjects were divided into 5 groups : A control group, acupuncture group, pharmacopuncture group U-PA1($2.571mg/250g/40{\mu}{\ell}$), pharmacopuncture group U-PA2($6.428mg/250g/40{\mu}{\ell}$), and pharmacopuncture group U-PA3($12.855mg/250g/40{\mu}{\ell}$). The focal brain ischemia was induced by intraluminal filament insertion into the middle cerebral artery. After 3 days of MCAO, Ukgansan(UGS) pharmacopuncture treatment was performed on the GB20, and the day after being treated with pharmacopuncture, the Morris water maze test was carried out by the assigned group. The series of processes were treated 6 times. Thereafter Bax, Bcl-2, Bax/Bcl-2 ratio, mGluR5, density of neuronal cell, and ChAT were measured. Results : The results were as follows. 1. The intensity of Bax significantly decreased in the U-PA1, U-PA2, U-PA3 groups. 2. The Bax/Bcl-2 ratio significantly decreased in the U-PA3 group compared with the control group. 3. The neuroprotective effect on the hippocampal CA1 significantly increased in the U-PA1, U-PA2, U-PA3 groups compared with the control group. 4. The density of ChAT in the hippocampal CA1 significantly increased in the U-PA1, U-PA2, U-PA3 groups compared with the control group. Conclusion : These results suggest that UGS pharmacopuncture may have anti-apoptotic and neuroprotective effects on focal cerebral ischemia caused by intraluminal filament insertion into the middle cerebral artery in rats.

  • In this paper, we firstly use Krasnosel'skii fixed point theorem to investigate positive solutions for the following three-point boundary value problems for p-Laplacian with a parameter $({\phi}_P(D^{\alpha}_{0}+u(t)))^{\prime}+{\lambda}f(t, u(t))=0$, 0$D^{\alpha}_{0}+u(0)=u(0)=u{\prime}{\prime}(0)=0$, $u^{\prime}(1)={\gamma}u^{\prime}(\eta)$ where ϕp(s) = |s|p−2s, p > 1, $D^{\alpha}_{0^+}$ is the Caputo's derivative, α ∈ (2, 3], η, γ ∈ (0, 1), λ > 0 is a parameter. Then we use Leggett-Williams fixed point theorem to study the existence of three positive solutions for the fractional boundary value problem $({\phi}_P(D^{\alpha}_{0}+u(t)))^{\prime}+f(t, u(t))=0$, 0$D^{\alpha}_{0}+u(0)=u(0)=u{\prime}{\prime}(0)=0$, $u^{\prime}(1)={\gamma}u^{\prime}(\eta)$ where ϕp(s) = |s|p−2s, p > 1, $D^{\alpha}_{0^+}$ is the Caputo's derivative, α ∈ (2, 3], η, γ ∈ (0, 1).

  • In this paper, we are concerned with the following eigenvalue problems of m-point boundary value problem for p-Laplacian dynamic equation on time scales $(\varphi_p(u^{\Delta}(t)))^\nabla+{\lambda}h(t)f(u(t))=0,\;t\in(0,T)$, $u(0)=0,\varphi_p(u^{\Delta}(T))=\sum\limits_{i=1}^{m-2}a_i\varphi_p(u^{\Delta}(\xi_i))$, where $\varphi_p(u)=|u|^{p-2}$u, p > 1 and $\lambda$ > 0 is a real parameter. Under certain assumptions, some new results on existence of one or two positive solution and nonexistence are obtained for $\lambda$ evaluated in different intervals. Our work develop and improve many known results in the literature even for the continual case. In doing so the usual restriction that $f_0=lim_{u{\rightarrow}0}+f(u)/\varphi_p(u)$ and $f_\infty = lim_{u{\rightarrow}{\infty}}f(u)/\varphi_p({u})$ exist is removed. As an applications, an example is given to illustrate the main results obtained.

  • The evolution of u-Gov will play a big impact due to the development of information and communication technology. The evolution plays as a critical mean for the government innovation which pursues the value of new administration. In this paper, through an analysis of the difference between e-Gov and u-Gov, I suggested the composition of prototype system of u-public transit application services which can be applied to u-Gov. I also studied the method for removing unstable elements of e-Gov which may occur when the prototype is implemented and the implications of the its UT-based policy for responding to u-public transit.

  • Consider the problem $-div($\mid$\bigtriangledown_u$\mid$^{p-2}\bigtriangledown_u) = $\mid$u$\mid$^{p^*-2}u + \lambda$\mid$u$\mid$^{q-2}u$ in B, u = 0 on $\partial B$; where $B \subset R^n$ is a ball, $\lambda < 0, 1 < p < n$ and $p^* = \frac{np}{n-p}$ is the critical Sobolev exponent. For given $\lambda > 0$, we show that there exists $k = k(\lambda) \in N$ such that any radial solutions to this problem have at most k noda curves when $p \leq q \leq p^* - 1$.

  • Malignant tumors have a capacity to degrade the extracellular matrix by controlled proteolysis. One system involved in these processes is the urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) system. uPAR levels are elevated in tumors from several types of cancer. Our study was planned to investigate serum and urine levels of uPAR in breast cancer patients (n=180) and healthy controls (n=60) by ELISA. Serum (p<0.001) and urine (p<0.001) uPAR values in the patients were both significantly elevated. High serum and urine levels of uPAR can be used as diagnostic tools in lymph node positive patients.

  • With the growth of RFID market in logistics industry, such as post office, airline, shipping etc., development of RFID readers and tags becomes crucial. Especially, $860{\sim}960MHz$ RFID is worth noticing because of its long identification range and low production cost. Therefore, performance tests and verification of reader and/or tag under development are very important. In this paper, a RFID emulator system is designed and implemented using a commercial CAD tool, a signal generator and a data acquisition device. With the RFID emulator system, many parameters such as spectrum masks, transmit power levels, data waveform and other RF characteristics can be analyzed. Furthermore it can be applied to the verification of real RFID Readers or Tags.

  • Let $P{\geq}3$ be an integer and let ($U_n$) and ($V_n$) denote generalized Fibonacci and Lucas sequences defined by $U_0=0$, $U_1=1$; $V_0= 2$, $V_1=P$, and $U_{n+1}=PU_n-U_{n-1}$, $V_{n+1}=PV_n-V_{n-1}$ for $n{\geq}1$. In this study, when P is odd, we solve the equations $V_n=kx^2$ and $V_n=2kx^2$ with k | P and k > 1. Then, when k | P and k > 1, we solve some other equations such as $U_n=kx^2$, $U_n=2kx^2$, $U_n=3kx^2$, $V_n=kx^2{\mp}1$, $V_n=2kx^2{\mp}1$, and $U_n=kx^2{\mp}1$. Moreover, when P is odd, we solve the equations $V_n=wx^2+1$ and $V_n=wx^2-1$ for w = 2, 3, 6. After that, we solve some Diophantine equations.

  • Because the interaction layers that form between U-Mo particles and the Al matrix degrade the thermal properties of U-Mo/Al dispersion fuel, an investigation was undertaken of the undesirable feedback effect between an interaction layer growth and a centerline temperature increase for dispersion fuel. The radial temperature distribution due to interaction layer growth during irradiation was calculated iteratively in relation to changes in the volume fractions, the thermal conductivities of the constituents, and the oxide thickness with the burnup. The interaction layer growth, which is estimated on the basis of the temperature calculations, showed a reasonable agreement with the post-irradiation examination results of the U-Mo/Al dispersion fuel rods irradiated at the HANARO reactor. The U-Mo particle size was found to be a dominant factor that determined the fuel temperature during irradiation. Dispersion fuel with larger U-Mo particles revealed lower levels of both the interaction layer formation and the fuel temperature increase. The results confirm that the use of large U-Mo particles appears to be an effective way of mitigating the thermal degradation of U-Mo/Al dispersion fuel.
