THE GEODETIC NUMBER OF A GRAPH

  • For two vertices u and v of an oriented graph D, the set I(u, v) consists of all vertices lying on a u-v geodesic or v-u geodesic in D. If S is a set of vertices of D, then I(S) is the union of all sets 1(u, v) for vertices u and v in S. The geodetic number g(D) is the minimum cardinality among the subsets S of V(D) with I(S) = V(D). In this paper, we give a partial answer for the conjecture by G. Chartrand and P. Zhang and present some results on orient able geodetic number.

모음환경에 따른 한국어 양순 파열음의 공기역학적인 특징 (Aerodynamic Characteristics of Korean Bilabial Stop Consonant in Vowel Environment)

  • Aerodynamic analysis study was performed on 14 normal subjects(2 male, 12 female) by nonsense syllables composed of Korean bilabial stop(/p, p', $p^{h}$) and their preceding and/or following vowel /i, a, u/. That is [pi, p'i, phi, pa, p'a, pha, pu, p'u, $p^{h}u$]. All measures were analysed using Aerophone II voice function analyzer and included peak air pressure, mean air pressure, maximum flow rate, volume, mean SPL. As results, first, MSPL and MAP of /p, p', $p^{h}$/ themselves were significantly different. In addition, different vowel enviroment also produced significantliy different aerodynamic chracteristics those consonants.

한국적 무기체계 효과지수 개발에 관한 연구 (I) -무기체계 효과측정 방법론- (A Study on the Development of the Weapon System Effectiveness Indices (I))

  • Weapon System effectiveness indices are a key factor to the cost-effectiveness analysis in the process of allocating national resources in an optimal fashion. First part of this paper reviews the need of weapon -effectiveness indices, historical development of methodologies on military strength evaluation with various models of indices, and the interrelation-ship between weapon effectiveness indices and war-game. Second part of this paper analyzes the concepts and usage of the already developed methodologies, i .e., index of power, weapon lethality index (W.L.I.), index of fire power potential (I.F.P), fire power potential (F. P. P), and weapon effectiveness indices/weighted unit value (W. E. I/W. U. V.). Finally, weaknesses and limits of these methodologies are compared and evaluated. Result of this research shows that the W. L. I, I. F. P, and F. P. P seem to possess many non-scientific or ambiguous facets, but the W. E. I/W. U. V method produces more detailed, inclusive, and reasonable indices. The paper concludes with the emphasis on the importance of the provision of the theoretical bases to develop effectiveness indices which can be used to evaluate Korean weapon systems, and the early establishment of a specialized research group to manage and develop methodologies on the weapon effectiveness indices.

REGULARITY OF NONLINEAR VECTOR VALUED VARIATIONAL INEQUALITIES

  • We consider regularity questions arising in the degenerate elliptic vector valued variational inequalities -div(|▽u|p-2∇u)$\geq$b(x, u, ∇u) with p$\in$(1, $\infty$). It is a generalization of the scalar valued inequalities, i.e., the obstacle problem. We obtain the C1,$\alpha$loc regularity for the solution u under a controllable growth condition of b(x, u, ∇u).

DMT를 이용한 부산신항 점토의 비배수 전단강도 추정 (Evaluation of Undrained Shear Strength of Busan New-port Clay by DMT)

  • 본 연구에서는 DMT를 이용한 비배수 전단강도를 파악하기 위하여 부산신항 점토층에 DMT 시험, 베인전단시험, $CK_0U$ 삼축압축시험을 실시하였다. 시험결과 정규화한 비배수 전단강도비는 삼축시험의 경우 $S_{u(CKU)}/{\sigma}'_v=0.30{\sim}0.35$, 베인전단시험의 경우 ${\mu}S_{u(VST)}/{\sigma}'_v=0.20{\sim}0.22$로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 현장 베인전단시험 및 삼축압축시험 결과와의 비교를 통해, DMT를 이용하여 비배수 전단강도를 추정하는 두 가지 방법을 제안하였다. 첫 번째는 $S_u/{\sigma}'_v$와 횡방향 응력지수의 관계를 이용하는 방법이고, 두 번째는 $N_c-I_D$ 또는 $N_c-E_D$ 관계로부터 비배수 전단강도를 추정하는 방법이다. 베인전단시험 및 삼축시험 결과와 두 가지 추정방법을 비교한 결과, $N_c-I_D$ 또는 $N_c-E_D$ 관계를 이용한 방법이 $K_D$ 이용하는 방법보다 비배수 전단강도를 정확하게 추정하는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 $I_D$$E_D$가 토질상태를 반영하는 $p_1-p_0$항을 포함하고 있어, $N_c$를 이용하는 방법이 토질을 고려한 비배수 전단강도 추정을 할 수 있기 때문으로 판단된다.

  • 새로운 종류의 히드라존 유도체는 4-(2-chloroethyl) semicarbazides로 부터 합성되었고, 인간 두 뇌(U251)와 간(Hepg2)의 암세포 에 대해 항증식성을 보였다. 히드라존 화합물은 벤즈알데히드, 아세토 페논, 3-formylindole 유도체이다. 아세토페논 유도체중에 3e (p-methoxy substituted)와 and 3f (p-nitro substituted)는 Hepg2 세포 (각각I$C_{50}$ = 6 ,8 $\mu$g/mL) 에 대해 가장 높은 세포독성활성을 보인다. 3-Formylindole 유도체중에 4a (hydrazone of 3-formylindole)은 U251 (I$C_{50}$ = 21 $\mu$g/mL)와 Hepg2 (I$C_{50}$ = 7 $\mu$g/mL)에 강한 세포독성활성을 보인다.

ERROR ANALYSIS OF THE hp-VERSION UNDER NUMERICAL INTEGRATIONS FOR NON-CONSTANT COEFFICIENTS

  • In this paper we consider the hp-version to solve non-constant coefficients elliptic equations on a bounded, convex polygonal domain ${\Omega}$ in $R^2$. A family $G_p=\{I_m\}$ of numerical quadrature rules satisfying certain properties can be used for calculating the integrals. When the numerical quadrature rules $I_m{\in}G_p$ are used for computing the integrals in the stiffness matrix of the variational form we will give its variational form and derive an error estimate of ${\parallel}u-{\widetilde{u}}^h_p{\parallel}_{1,{\Omega}$.

We obtain the existence of at least one nonconstant symmetric solution by applying an extension of Mawhin's continuation theorem due to Ge. Furthermore, an example is given to illustrate the results.

Some Notes on the Fourier Series of an Almost Periodic Weakly Stationary Process

  • In my former paper [3] I defined an almost periodicity of weakly sationary random processes (a.p.w.s.p.) and presented some basic results of it. In this paper I shall present some notes on the Fourier series of an a.p.w.s.p., resulting from [3]. All the conditions at the introduction of [3] are assumed to hold without repreating them here. The essential facts are as follows : The weakly stationary process $X(t,\omega), t\in(-\infty,\infty), \omega\in\Omega$, defined on a probability space $(\Omega,a,P)$, has a spectral representation $$X(t,\omega)=\int_{-\infty}^{infty}{e^{it\lambda\xi}(d\lambda,\omega)},$$ where $\xi(\lambda)$ is a random measure. Then, the continuous covariance $\rho(\mu) = E(X(t+u) X(t))$ has the form $$\rho(u)=\int_{-\infty}^{infty}{e^{iu\lambda}F(d\lambda)},$$ $E$\mid$\xi(\lambda+0)-\xi(\lambda-0)$\mid$^2 = F(\lambda+0) - F(\lambda-0) \lambda\in(-\infty,\infty)$, assumimg that $\rho(u)$ is a uniformly almost periodic function.

  • 내산성(耐酸性) Amylase를 강력(强力)히 생산(生産)하는 2개(個)의 균주(菌株)를 분리(分離)하고 정치배양(靜置培養)에 있어서의 배양(培養) pH의 영향에 관(關)하여 실험(實驗)했다. 1. 두 균주(菌株)는 모두 Asp. usamii의 tan type mutant와 유사(類似)했다. 2. $u^{-1}$ 균(菌)은 초발(初發)에 pH를 4로, $u^{-2}$ 균(菌)은 초발(初發)에 pH를 2로 할때 효소생성(酵素生成)이 가장 좋았는데 이것은 저(低) pH의 일시적(一時的)인 영향에 의(依)하는 것이 아니며 초발(初發) pH를 비교적(比較的) 낮게 할 때 배양기간중(培養基間中)의 pH 경과(經過)가 적합(適合)했기 때문이다. 3. $u^{-2}$ 균(菌)보다 $u^{-1}$ 균효소(菌酵素)의 내산성(耐酸性)이 컸으며 $u^{-2}$ 균(菌)은 초발(初發)에 pH를 낮게 하여(pH 2) 배양(培養)할 때 생성효소(生成酵素)의 내산성(耐酸性)이 컸다.
