A Study on the Construction of Littman and Littrow Type Tunable Diode Laser Systems (Littman 및 Littrow 타입 파장가변 반도체 레이저의 제작에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we constructed the Littman type and fixed Littrow type tunable external-cavity diode laser systems. The laser output, which is the 0th-order diffracted beam from the diffraction grating in an external cavity, was the single longitudinal mode. Its FWHM was measured as less than 9MHz. With the diode driving current of 140mA and operating temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, the coarse tuning range of 5.375nm was measured for the Littman type, and of 13.65nm was measured for the fixed Littrow type. A fine tuning experiment in which an external mirror was rotated by a PZT driven by a sawtooth wave was performed, and its tuning range of 0.042nm was measured for both types. The fixed Littrow type tunable external-cavity diode laser system was an improvement on the conventional Littrow type tunable laser system in which the output direction varies due to the grating embedded in the mirror plate.

  • A Littman type tunable external-cavity diode laser system was developed.   • An experimental study for free convective heat transfer in a thermal diode type enclosure is presented. The thermal diode is a device which allows heat to be transferred in one direction by convection due to density difference of the fluid, and consists of a rectangular-paralle-logrammic enclosure with a guide vane. It is used as heat collection system of solar energy due to its simple construction and low cost. Experimental parameters were guide vane thickness, the inclination angles of the parallelogrammic enclosure, and the lengths of the rectangular enclosure part. The parameter range of the flux Rayleigh numbers was $2.4\times{10}^8$~$9.8\times{10}^8$. The heat transfer rate of this system was shown 10~47% higher than that of other earlier research results without the guide vane. The correlation for fixed $\phi=60^\circ$ was obtained, Nu=0.0037(Ra^*)^{0.429}(d^*)^ {0.050}(Lr/H)^{0.0415}$.

The Speed Control System of an Induction Type A.C Servomotor by Vector Control (벡터제어법에 의한 유도형교류 서보전동기의 속도제어에 관한 연구)

  • In recent years, a.c servomotors have been gradually replacing d.c servomotors in various high-performance applications such as machine tools and industrial robots. Inparticular, the high performance slip-frequency control of an induction motor, which is often called the vector control, is considered ane of th ebest a.c drives. In this paper, the transient state equations and vector control algorithms of an induction type servomotor are described mathematically by using the two- axis theory (d-q coordinates). According to the result of these algorithms, we scheme the speed control system for the motor in which the vector control is adopted to give high performance. Motor drive through a PWM inverter with power MOSFET is controlled so that the actual input current to the motor may track the current reference obtained from a micro-computer (8086 CPU). Driving experiments are performed in the range of 0 to 3000 rpm, and it is verified that high speed response is obtained for this system.

  • A new type of precision actuator is developed using piezoelectric bimorphs. This type of actuator is applicable for the flat surface or in-pipe system and can make forward and backward motion. Two bimorphs are linked serially and two different phased voltages are applied to each bimorph. Therefore, The end of the bimorph makes ellipsoidal motion. The device moves by the friction force between the rubber attached at the bimorph end and the inner surface of the pipe. As the results, the driving range of the device is about 0~18Hz and the device guarantees very high linearity at low frequency, 0~1 Hz. The maximum velocity of the device is about 6mm/s at 10Hz. The developed mechanism is very simple and use piezoelectric bimorph. So, it is possible to miniaturize and educe the power consumption.

  • Objective technology development has been carried out aiming performance improvement of the stabilized gun-pointing system for Type-4 tank. The full nonlinear simulation programs with gun bending modes and nonlinearities were developed to estimate, analyze and design the driving and stabilization system, and validated through the comparisons between simulations and test results of the existing Type-1 tank. The prototype is designed, fabricated, tested and evaluated on the test range as well as in the laboratory and followed by development and operational tests. The performance test results on stationary and on-the-move conditions are turned out to be superior to those of the advanced tanks developed in foreign countries.

  • As an essential step for development of a duel injection hydrogen fueled engine which can obtain high thermal efficiency and power in overall operating range, performance and BFL(back fire limit) equivalance ratio in hydrogen fueled engine with external mixture are investigated. As the results, BFL equivalence ratio in hydrogen fueled engine with external mixture is approximately 0.7. It is deduced that controls of driving conditions are required in transient stage from external mixture type to inner injection type. And in order to increase thermal efficiency, it is also found that BFL equivalence ratio should be expanded as much as possible.

  • This paper attempts to evaluate driving stability by the vibration of human body. The purpose of this research is to establish an evaluation methodology for controling the quality of road surface. The study was conducted to investigate the relationship between road surface profiles (IRI, International Roughness Index) and the fatigue caused by the vibration of human body. Furthermore, 3-axis acceleration in driving vehicles was examined based on sampling sections under various road conditions. The acceleration value of frequency bands were analyzed by the characteristics of road surface, and realized the range of human influence by conditions and type of road surface with ISO-2631 standards. In general, more human fatigue by vehicle vibration was appeared in concrete pavements with high IRIs based on the analysis from given test data. Whereas, The SMA asphalt pavement and the diamond grinded concrete pavement reduce the human fatigue.

  • In this paper, a new NMOS current-mirror type bridge rectifier for driving RFID chips, whose minimum input voltage required to obtain the effective DC output voltage is low enough and whose power dissipation can be reduced than that of conventional one, is proposed. The designed rectifier is able to supply high enough and well-rectified DC voltages to drive RFID transponder chips for the frequency range of 13.56 MHz HF(for ISO 18000-3), 915 MHz UHF(fur ISO 18000-6), and 2.45 GHz microwave(for ISO 18000-4). Output characteristics of the proposed rectifier are analyzed with the high frequency equivalent circuit. And the circuitry method for effective reducing of the gate leakage current due to the increasing of operating frequency is also proposed theoretically. Using this method, the power consumption of $100\;{\mu}W$ and the DC output voltage of 2.13V for 3V peak-to-peak input voltage and $45\;K{\Omega}$ load resistance are obtained. Compared to conventional one, the proposed rectifier operates in more stable and shows superior characteristics in UHF and microwave frequencies.
