Objectives: This study explores the characteristics of family migration for North Korean defectors and classifies family migration by examining who initiated the migration and who followed. Method: We analyzed the family migration using detailed stories from fifty-five North Korean defectors who were interviewed between 2005 and 2011. Results: We found that 43 out of 55 cases were family migration and the remaining 12 cases were single person migration. We also found several characteristics typical of migration. First, family migration followed the process of step migration, which indicated a serial migration in numbers. Second, migration relied heavily on informal social networks. Finally, the process of earlier migration by North Koreans was incidental and unexpected; however, unexpectedness has diminished in recent migration. Looking at who initiated the migration, the most common type was 'mother-initiated' cases (14 cases) followed by 'child-initiated' cases (10 cases). The third most common type was 'mother-child accompanied' cases (7 cases). The migration process was various; however the most common type was when a married woman initiated the family migration process. This is most likely because married women have the responsibility to support families in the informal economy of North Korea. According to the range of family migrated, the most common type was 'nuclear-family only' cases (22 cases) followed by 'maternal extended family migration' cases (12 cases). Conclusions: The findings of this study provide information on the family dynamics of North Korean defectors.

The compare result are as follows; three generation family houses - be used by whom - do not apply to standard plan. Almost houses have a three room that is less than the standard plan. All houses have a number of two bath that is less than the standard plan too. Condition of consideration is suitable to ages in next door type, but in case of living together type that consider user whom is use the inner room. Separation of entrance distinguish between the living together type and the next doors type. In case of living together type Dining with Kitchen room's number is one, but the next doors type have the number of two.
The aim of this study was to investigate on characteristics of sociological and demographic population, marital conflicts and expectations to family counselors' cultural competence surrounding factors of cultural adaptation among immigrated women. This study conducted a survey of 236 immigrated women in Kyonggi province, Seoul metropolitan cities, Cholla and Chunchung provinces and Incheon. The results of this study are as follows: First, a relatively few marital conflicts were found, as a whole, while they had the high levels of expectation to family counselors' cultural competence. Second, immigrated women can be clustered as three different types: 'multiplicity type', 'undifferentiated type' and 'adaptation type'. Third, sociological and demographic population characteristics which were subdivided and clustered according to cultural adaptation made the significant difference between each population. Population with multiplicity type out of the above-stated three types accounted for the highest conflict rates, while population with 'adaptation' type accounted for the lowest conflict rates. Lastly, expectations to family counselors' cultural competence made the significant difference among each population. Population with multiplicity type showed the highest expectation levels on expectations to family counselors' cultural competence, while population with undifferentiated type showed the lowest levels.

The types of the multi-family housing are classified into the independent type, the mixed type and the public type by the approaching method. The characteristics of the independent type are the rear layout type(41.66%), the "ㅋ"type(56.14%), and the 2-room type(54.54%). In the mixed one, they are the front layout type(36.84%), the "ㄱ"type(42.10%), and the 1-room type(49.60%) and in the public one they are the front layout type(51.61%), the "ㅡ"type(41.99%). and the 1-room type(84.11%). It is found that the housing types are gradually tuned into the multi-family housing such as the independent house in the urban area due to changing the major independent type(82.60%) in the early of the 1990s to the public type(74.19%) in the end of the 1990s.
This study is to understand the determinants affecting women's fertility behavior (additional fertility plan) using the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women & Families of 2007. Patterns of married women's life courses are divided into five groups depending on family role and economic activity: family-centered (no work experience) type, latent M type, M type, work-family reconciliation type, and first job entry type. This study performs a binomial logistic regression analysis and the key findings from the study are summarized as follows. First, five distinctive patterns show the different composition: family-centered type (4.5%), latent M type (69.6%), M type (10.4%), work-family reconciliation type (7.4%), and first job entry type (8.1%). Second, socio-economic characteristics, husband characteristics, and value characteristics are statistically significant to additional fertility behavior ; however, institutional character is not significant. Finally, significant factors affecting additional fertility plans vary in different patterns of life courses. Based on these results, this study suggests some policy implications and future research directions.

Dividing the family system type into two parts by the levels of cohesion and adaptability then collected data were examined to test curviliner and linear hypothesis. The subjects were 542 married women living in Pusan. The guestionnaires included FACES III Authority Pattern and Sex-role attitude scales. The data were analyzed with statistical methods such as Frequency Distribution Percentile Mean T-test and X2-test. The major findings were as follows: 1) The levels of family cohesion and family adaptability perceived by married women were high. 2) There were no significant statistical differences in the levels of socio-demographic variables Authority pattern Sex-role attitude among the groups of family system type I based on the curvilinear hypothesis but significant statistical differences were found in preferred variables among the groups of family system type II based on the linear hypothesis. 3) Among the socio-demographic variables family type religion and husband's educational level were significantly correlated with the groups of family system type II,. The percentiles of HH(the levels of cohesion and adaptability were high) families were high when the married women's sex-role attitudes leaned toward modern and authority patterns were husband-dominant.
This study explored a typology (or time allocation), investigated personal and work characteristic differences among time allocation types, and identified determinants of time allocation types of married working women with a preschool child. The data source for this research was the 2014 Time Use Survey conducted by Statistics Korea. We analyzed 368 time diaries (184 for weekdays and 184 for weekends) using frequency, mean, cluster analysis, chisquare, analysis of variance (ANOVA), Duncan's test, and multinomial logistic analysis. The results of this research are as follows. Time allocation of married working women with a preschool child was classified into three different types of 'work-centered,' 'work-family balanced,' and 'family-centered.' The work-centered type accounted for 14.7% of total respondents, and compared with other types, this type of people spent more time working, and less time doing house-work, caring for family, and having leisure. The work-family balanced type represents more than half of the total, and spend more time working on weekdays and house-working, having leisure on weekends. The family-centered type represents 28.8%, and spends most of the time doing house-work and caring for family on both weekdays and weekends. Occupation, employment status, monthly income, and weekly hours of work were different for each type. Occupation, employment status, perception of lack of time, health condition, and weekly hours of work were identified as determinants for each type.
The ratio of old persons among the total population is rapidly increasing and the apartment has become to the representative housing type in Korea. This means that many old persons would live in multi-family houses. Therefore the study was intended to examine the preferred characteristics of interior space organization in multi-family house by the aged. The characteristics were the number and usage of bedroom, necessity and type of dress room, type of living room, arrangement of work centers in kitchen, LDK type, the number and layout of bathroom, and type of entrance and balcony. The subjects were 122 old persons who lived in multi-family houses in Ulsan. The individual interview was carried out for collecting the data. The results were as the followings; The characteristics of interior space organization in multi-family houses preferred by the elderly were three bedroom, two bathroom, DK or LDK type, open planned living room, L shape arrangement of kitchen work center, entrance connected directly to outdoor space such as elevator hall or corridor, and the balcony located in front of living room and at the back of small bedroom. Even thouth the average age of population has increased, many apartments still be planned and provided without consideration of old persons. This study would contribute to plan the multi-family houses for the elderly.
