수종의 All-Etching Agent와 산부식시간에 따른 법랑질 산부식형태 및 전단 결합강도에 관한 연구 (THE EFFECTS OF VARIOUS ALL-ETCHING AGENTS AND VARIED ETCHING TIME ON ENAMEL MORPHOLOGY AND BOND STRENGTH)

  • The effects of various All-Etching Agents (10% phosphoric acid, 10% maleic acid and 10 % citric acid) and 32 % phosphoric acid and varied etching time were evaluated by observing the morphology of the etched enamel surfaces using Scanning electron microscopy and by measuring the shear bond strength of a composite resin to human enamel. A total of 156 extracted premolar and molar teeth free of irregularities were employed in this study. Specimens for the observation of enamel morphology were divided into 12 groups of 3 teeth each, based on the type of etchant used and application time. After exposure to the etching agent specimens were washed air-dried and then glued to aluminum stubs and coated with a layer of gold for examination in the scanning electron microscope. Specimens for the evaluation of bond strength were divided into 12 groups of 10 teeth each also based on the type of etchant used and application time. After exposure to the etching agent the specimens were washed, air-dried and a thin layer of bonding agent was applied using a brush. Z 100 composite resin was light cured to the surface and stored at $37^{\circ}C$, 100% humidity for 7 days. An Instron Universal Testing Machine was used to apply a shearing force at $90^{\circ}$ angle from the enamel surface. It is concluded from this study that commercial All-etching agents can be used with a 15-second etching without adversely affecting retention of dental resin materials. At the same time, the acid concentration is probably a suitable compromise regarding the acid's function as a dentin demineralizing all-etch conditioning agent. The following results were obtained. 1. Specimens etched with 10 % citric acid showed a random superficial etching pattern which could not be related to prism morphology. 2. Specimens etched with 10 % and 32 % phosphoric acid and 10 % maleic acid showed a type I pattern in which core material was preferentially removed leaving the prism peripheries relatively intact or a type II pattern in which prism peripheries were preferentially removed. This delineation became more distinguished as etching time was increased. 3. All-Etching Agents and 32 % phosphoric acid showed a statistically significant higher shear bond strength at 15 seconds etching time.(p<0.05) 4. 10 % maleic acid and 32 % phosphoric acid exhibited a statistically significant higher shear bond strength than 10 % phosphoric and citric acid at 15 seconds etching time.(p<0.05).

인장웨브재 형태에 따른 각형강관 갭K형 접합부의 거동 비교 (Comparison on the Behavior according to Shapes of Tension Web member in gap K-joints in Cold-formed Square Hollow Sections)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 트러스 인장웨브재의 형상이 정방형 각형강관인 기존 연구(강관웨브형)와 고장력 강봉을 인장웨브재로 사용하기 위해 연결플레이트를 가지는(강봉웨브형) 냉간성형 각형강관 갭 K형 접합부의 거동 비교를 통하여 고장력 강봉 사용의 적정성을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 주관폭두께비가 33.3으로 동일한 강관웨브형 실험체 4개와 강봉웨브형 실험체 8개의 최대내력, 파괴모드, 초기강성, 연성율 등을 비교하였다. 비교 결과, 접합부의 내력은 강관웨브형에서는 압축지관의 선행파괴로 결정되었으며, 강봉웨브형에서는 인장측의 선행파괴로 결정되었다. 무차원화 내력은 동일 폭비에서 강관웨브형이 높게 나타났으며, 폭비 증가에 따른 내력증가현상도 강관웨브형에서 뚜렷하게 나타나고, 강봉웨브형은 일정한 경향이 나타나지 않은 반면에 인장과 압축폭비로 나누어 살펴보면 인장폭비 증가에 따라서는 선형적인 증가현상이 나타남을 알았다. 파괴모드는 강관웨브형의 경우에는 압축지관의 미소 국부좌굴과 인장웨브와 주관 접합면의 소성파괴가 나타났고, 강봉웨브형의 경우는 주관플랜지면 소성변형 후 연결플레이트 용접부위의 파단이 나타났다. 따라서, 강봉웨브형에서 연결 플레이트를 갖는 갭K형 접합부의 경우에는 강관웨브형에 비해 주관의 폭두께비를 낮게 할 필요가 있으며, 폭비도 인장지관과 압축지관과의 관계를 고려하여 결정하여야 할 것으로 판단된다.

온조도건에 따른 외벽방수용 아스팔트 씰계 재료의 흘러내림 특성에 관한 실험 (Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Asphalt Seal Waterproofing Material for Underground External Walls According to Temperature)

  • 콘크리트 구조물이 점차 대형화, 고층화됨에 따라 지하구조물이 증가하고 있으며 지하실, 지하상가, 지하주차장, 지하철 등 그 종류 또한 다양해지고 있다. 이에 따라 지하구조물에 사용된 방수공법으로는 아스팔트계, 가황고무계, 점착형 시트재 등의 시트계 방수재를 이용한 외 방수공법을 주로 사용하였으나, 조인트 부분, 균열 발생 시 방수층의 파단 등 시트 방수공법의 문제점이 나타나 최근 방수층이나 외벽방수의 품질 확보와 구조물 거동에 대한 하자 발생률을 줄이고자 아스팔트 씰과 아스팔트 방수시트를 복합으로 사용하는 복합공법이 널리 사용되어 지고 있다. 그러나 일부 민간 건설 현장에서 아스팔트 씰의 누유현장으로 매스컴에 오르내리면서 아스팔트 씰의 적정품질 확보가 중요시되는 시점이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내에서 사용되고 있는 아스팔트 씰계 제품을 대상으로 옥외 수직부 흘러내림 특성을 평가하였다.

Overview of Benign and Malignant Prostatic Disease in Pakistani Patients: A Clinical and Histopathological Perspective

  • Background: To present the overall clinical and histological perspective of benign and malignant prostatic disease as seen in our practice in the Section of Histopathology, Department of Pathology and Microbiology, Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan. Materials and Methods: All consecutive prostate specimens (transurethral resection or TUR, enucleation, needle biopsies) received between July 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 were included in the study. Results: Of the total of 785 cases, 621 (79.1%) were TUR specimens, 80 (10.2%) enucleation specimens, and 84 (10.7%) needle biopsies. Some 595 (75.8%) were benign, while 190 (24.2%) were malignant. Mean weight of BPH specimens was 19 grams and 43 grams for TUR and enucleation specimens respectively. Almost 67% of adenocarcinomas were detected on TUR or enucleation specimens. Of the above cases, 41.7% were clinically benign while 58.3% were clinically malignant. The average volume of carcinoma in all cases ranged between 60 to 65%. The average number of cores involved in needle biopsies was 5. In general, higher Gleason scores were seen in TUR/enucleation specimens than in needle biopsies. Overall, in all types of specimens, commonest Gleason score was 7, seen in 74 (38.9%) cases, followed by Gleason score 9 seen in 47 (24.7%) cases. Out of the 63 needle biopsies with carcinoma, radical prostatectomy was performed in 16 cases (25.4%). Conclusions: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is extremely common and constitutes the bulk of prostate specimens. TMajority of prostatic carcinomas are still diagnosed on TUR or enucleation specimens. These included both clinically benign and clinically malignant cases. The volume of carcinoma in these specimens was quite high indicating extensive disease. Gleason scores were also generally high compared with scores from needle biopsies. Commonest Gleason score in all type of specimens was 7. Pathologic staging was possible in very few cases since radical prostatectomies are rarely performed.

A Morphological Analysis of the Facial Nerve in Korean Fetuses and Stillborn Infants

  • Objective : The accurate anatomy of the facial nerve is essential for successful surgical outcome. The purpose of the present study is to know such information on the facial nerve from a series of specimens. Methods : This study is based on cadaveric dissection of 41 Korean fetus and stillborn infant and describes anatomical variations of the peripheral branches of the facial nerve that pose a importance in a number of neruosurgical procedure. Results : The branching patterns were classified into six types according to modified Davis classification : the frequencies of occurrence were : type I, 4.9%; type II, 24.4%; type III, 34.1%; type IV, 19.5%; type V, 12.2%; and type VI, 4.9%. Types II, III and IV together accounted for almost 80% of the specimens. Conclusion : Compared to previous adult and western stillborn fetus cadaveric studies, there was no significant difference in the percentage of the types between the subjects in the present study, similar pattern and anatomic distribution.

Electrochemical Random Signal Analysis during Localized Corrosion of Anodized 1100 Aluminum Alloy in Chloride Environments

  • A new type of electrochemical random signal (electrochemical noise) analysis technique was applied to localized corrosion of anodic oxide film formed 1100 aluminum alloy in $0.5kmol/m^3$ $H_3BO_4/0.05kmol/m^3$ $Na_2B_4O_7$ with $0.01kmol/m^3$ NaCl. The effect of anodic oxide film structure, barrier type, porous type, and composite type on galvanic corrosion resistance was also examined. Before localized corrosion started, incubation period for pitting corrosion, both current and potential slightly change as initial value with time. The incubation period of porous type anodic oxide specimens are longer than that of barrier type anodic oxide specimens. While pitting corrosion, the current and potential were changed with fluctuations and the potential and the current fluctuations show a good correlation. The records of the current and potential were processed by calculating the power spectrum density (PSD) by the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method. The potential and current PSD decrease with increasing frequency, and the slopes are steeper than or equal to minus one (-1). This technique allows observation of electrochemical impedance changes during localized corrosion.

PZT-고분자 3-3형 복합압전체 소자로 제작된 초음파 트랜스듀서의 펄스에코 응답특성 (Pulse-echo response of ultrasonic transducer fabricated with PZT-polymer 3-3 type composite)

  • The pulse-echo response of the piezoceramics PZT-polymer 3-3 type composite transducers with various PVA additions were investigated. The PZT powder was prepared by the molten salt synthesis method. The porous PZT specimens will be used as a filler to make 3-3 type comosite were prepared from a mixture of PZT and polyvinylalcohol(PVA) sphere by utilizing BURPS(Bumout Plastic Sphere) technique. It was shown that the transmitting and receiving sensitivity of 3-3 type piezoelectric composite transducers could be improved than that of solid PZT transducers. The reason is that 3-3 type piezoelectric composite have low dielectric constant, density and acoustic impedance. The distance between transducer and reflector was in good agreement with the distance calculated from the longitudinal velocity of the specimens and receiving time observed pulse-echo responses on the ultrasonic transducer analyzer.

철근콘크리트 프레임 및 전단벽체의 경계기둥 띠철근비 변화에 따른 구조성능 평가 (Structural Performance Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Frame and Shear Wall with Various Hoop Ratios of Boundary Column)

  • 본 연구는 수직하중과 정.부 수평하중이 동시에 작용하는 순수강접 프레임과 완전강접 바벨형 철근콘크리트 전단벽 시험체의 경계기둥 띠철근비를 주요변수로 하여 총 10개의시험체를 실물 크기의 약 1/3로 축소 모델화하여 제작한 후, 구조성능 평가를 위한 실험을 실시하여 이력거동 특성, 수평강성 및 최대내력,파괴형태, 연성능력등을 비교 고찰하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 순수강접 프레임 및 완전강접 바벨형 전단벽 시헴체의 경우, 각 시험체의 실험을 통하여 구한 이력거동곡선을 비교 고찰한 결과 기둥의 띠철근비가 클수록 최대하중에 도달한 후 강도저하 현상이 서서히 진행되었고, 연성적인 파괴형태를 나타내었다. 완전강접 바벨형 전단벽 시험체의 경우, 좌우기둥의 띠철근비가 적은 시험체는 비교적 띠철근비가 큰 시험체에 비하여 최종 파괴시의 파괴형태는 사인장 균열에 의해 지배됨을 규명할 수 있었다. 완전강접 바벨형 전단벽 시험체의 초대수평내력은 순수강접 프레임 시험체의최대수평내력보다 약 5.47~7.95배 증가하였다.

  • The technology trend of Flat Panel Display (FPD) equipments have been demanded that there are compact and multi-function. Therefore, nano/micro scale patterned on polymeric materials of Back Light Unit (BLU) in Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) that has been investigated. This paper describes a series of Horizontal Type Micro Tensile Tester that were carried out to investigate the load strain distance performance of typical polymeric material sheets. The polymeric materials film that micro size shaped specimens for tensile test are used by Cold-Isostatic-Press (CIP). Test equipment is Horizontal type Micro Tensile Tester that is presented to measure the micro scale mechanical property of thin film for FPD. This paper presents which easy testing tools measure for micro patterned on polyethylene (PET) specimens.

An experimental study on different socket base connections under cyclic loading

  • This paper presents an experimental study on socket base connections of precast reinforced concrete columns. The main purpose of this study is to determine socket base connection which has the closest behavior to monolithic casted column-base joints. For this purpose, six specimens having different column-socket base connection details were tested under cyclic loading. For each test, strength, stiffness, ductility and drift ratios of the specimens were determined. Test results indicated that a suggested connection type is 10%-30% stronger than the other type of connections under lateral loading. The welded connection (PC-5) had better lateral load carrying capacity and ductility. On the other hand, performance of standard connection (PC-1) which is commonly used in construction was weaker than other connections. Thus, decision of connection type should be referred not only performance but also applicability.
