A Study on the Relationship between Type A Behavior Pattern and Lifestyle and Psychological Characteristics of Korean Medical Students (한의대생의 A형 행동유형과 생활 양식 및 심리 특성과의 관계 연구)

  • Objectives : To determine the relationship between Type A Behavior Pattern and lifestyle and psychological characteristics of Korean medical students. Methods : The Type A Behavior Pattern in 73 Korean medical students was measured. Questionnaires were conducted on lifestyle and mental characteristics. Results : In the PSQI, ISI, S-Scale, BEPSI-K, PWI-SF, CES-D, BDI, STAI-X-1, STAI-X-2, K-RTA, PWI-SF and PSS surveys, The score of Type A Behavior Pattern was significantly higher than that of Type B Behavior Pattern. Otherwise, in SES, WHOQOL-BREF(Physical, Psychological) and SWLS surveys, The score of Type A Behavior Pattern was significantly lower than that of Type B Behavior Pattern. Conclusions : Lifestyle and psychological characteristics of Korean medical students are correlated with Type A Behavior Pattern. Therefore, Type A Behavior Pattern could be used an indicator reflecting various properties of Korean medical students.

Type A Behavior Pattern and Its Association with Stress, Depression and Fatigue in Nurses (간호사의 A형 행동유형과 스트레스, 우울 및 피로수준과의 관련성)

  • Purpose: The present study was intended to assess stress, depression and fatigue of nurses working for university hospitals and to reveal its association with the type A behavior pattern. Method: The self-administered questionnaires were given to 810 nurses employed in 4 participating hospitals located in Daejeon City. The questionnaire items included sociodemographic, job-related, and the type A behavior patterns as independent variables and the PWI, SDS and MFS as dependent variables. Result: The proportion of the type A behavior pattern was 24.3% of subjects, in the degree of stress, high risk stress group was 87.0%, in the degree of depression, normal group was 60.9%, in the degree of fatigue, high risk fatigue group was 48.6%. The degree of stress, depression, and fatigue were significantly higher in the type A behavior pattern group then the type B behavior pattern group. The type A behavior pattern was significant positive correlation with stress, depression, and fatigue. The degree of stress(OR=1.2, 95%CI=1.167-1.262), depression(OR=1.1, 95%CI=1.11-1.17) and fatigue (OR=1.1, 95%CI=1.04-1.06) were significantly higher for the type A then the type B behavior pattern group. Conclusion: The degree of stress, depression, and fatigue were significantly higher in the type A then the type B behavior pattern group.

Relationship Between Type A Behavior Pattern and Fatigue Symptoms Among Nurses in General Hospitals (종합병원 간호사들의 A형 행동유형과 피로자각증상의 관련성)

  • This study was intended to assess fatigue symptoms of nurses working for general hospitals and to reveal its association with the type A behavior pattern. The self-administered questionnaires were given to 306 nurses employed in general hospitals from May, 1st to June, 30th 2011. As a results, The proportion of behavior pattern was 50.7%, of type A, and 49.3% of type B. The distribution of fatigue symptoms was 76.8% of normal group, and 23.2% of high risk group. In terms of the distribution of fatigue symptoms according to the type A behavior pattern, the normal group of fatigue symptoms was higher in the type B behavior pattern group, but the high risk group of fatigue symptoms was higher in the type A behavior pattern group. The type A behavior pattern was significant positive correlation with fatigue symptoms. In logistic regression analysis, the adjusted odds ratio of the high risk fatigue symptoms were significantly increased in the group of type A behavior pattern than type B behavior pattern. As a conclusion, fatigue symptoms was higher in the group of type A behavior pattern than the group of type B behavior pattern. Hereafter, the sustainable study would require that the relation between type A behavior pattern and fatigue symptoms to the various study subjects.

Analysis of Relationship Between Job Stress and Fatigue According to The Type A/B Behavior Pattern of Physical Therapists

  • Stress and fatigue are general physical aspects of our daily lives. It has been shown that physical therapists have different levels of job stress and fatigue according to the type A/B behavior patterns. This study collected data from 212 physical therapists between October 28 and November 23, 2016 using an anonymous, self-administered questionnaire. The study results showed the proportion of physical therapists with the Type A behavior patterns(TABP) was 18% greater than that of physical therapists with the Type B behavior patterns(TBBP). In this study, physical therapists with TABP were compared with physical therapists with TBBP. The results indicated that physical therapists with TABP were more inclined to experience higher levels of overall job stress and fatigue from the following stress factors: physical environment, job requirement, and job autonomy. Therefore, the stronger the tendency toward TABP, the stronger the feeling of job stress and fatigue from physical environment, job requirement, and job autonomy. Those with a tendency toward TBBP showed positive correlations between job requirement and the total job stress score; thus, the stronger the tendency toward TBBP, the stronger the feeling of overall job stress and fatigue from job requirement. This study suggests that it is necessary to manage the job stress and fatigue of physical therapists with both TABP and TBBP and to manage the job stress and fatigue of physical therapists with the type A behavioral pattern.

A Study on the Determining Factors of Work Stress Coping Strategies of Dental Hygienists (치위생사의 직무스트레스 대처전략 결정요인에 관한 연구)

  • By extracting the variables related to the work stress generated from dental hygiene, identifying their relationships, this study aims to contribute to academic progress on work stress. The test results of this study are as follows for each hypothesis: 1. Among the work stress sensing factors, role ambiguity showed correlation to the active coping strategy and the passive coping strategy, whereas it did not have any correlation to the evasive reation. However, the physical resource environmental factor showed correlation to the active coping strategy, whereas it did not have any correlation to the other reation. 2. The passive coping strategy, among the work stress coping strategies, influences the role ambiguity, B type, work ambiguity, physical resource environmental factor by about 18.7%. 3. The active coping strategy, among the work stress coping strategies, influences the social support, role ambiguity, work place of health center factor by about 18.9%. 4. The evasive reaction, among the work stress coping strategies, was influenced by only the 36 years old over factor by approximately 4.2%. 5. It was found in all work stress sensing factors that the group with lower social support had a more degree of experiencing stress than the group with higher social support. In case of the behavior pattern, the type A experienced more stress than the type B only in role ambiguity. 6. It was found that the group with the higher social support tended to choose more active coping strategy than the lower social support. In case of behavior pattern, the type B coped more actively than type A in the passive coping strategy.

Rheological Approaches to Classify the Mixed Gel Network of $\kappa$-Carrageenan/Agar

  • The type of mixed gel network of $\kappa$-carrageenan/agar was determined by applying rheological principles. Apparent Young's modulus of the mixed gels was mathematically analyzed with (a) simply adding the moduli of two component gels, (b) phase-separated type's upper and lower bound models, (c) interpenetrating type's logarithmic model. The experimental data fitted the estimates from the operation (a). Whereas, as for the models (b), the experimental values in the agar-rich region fitted the estimates of the upper bound model, but in the $\kappa$-carrageenan-rich region slightly deviated from those of the lower bound model. It reflected an evidence of a phase-separated type, although it was not typical, that there must be data good-fit in the agar-rich and $\kappa$-carrageenan-rich regions with the upper and lower bound models, respectively. Experimental values disagreed with estimates of the model (c). Gel time was analyzed to evince the phase-separated type. As agar concentrations increased at a fixed amount of $\kappa$-carrageenan, gel time gradually decreased and then sharply increased and decreased again. The pattern of such change in gel time also represented a typical behavior of phase-separated type's mixed gels.

Verification of Physiological and Psychological Effects of Vertical Indoor Garden (수직형 실내정원이 주는 생리적·심리적 효과 검증)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the physiological and psychological benefits of indoor garden to humans and to analyze the comparison according to Type A behavior pattern. The subjects included 18 male university students. Heart rate variation was used as a parameter of physiological assessment, and Semantic Differential (SD), Profile of Mood States-Brief (POMS), and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) were used as tools for psychological evaluation. The participants were subjected to a psychological evaluation when they were present in a garden. As a result, the parasympathetic nervous activity was increased in the indoor garden. In the analysis of psychological evaluation, indoor garden improved the positive mood states and decreased negative feelings with significant changes only in Type A group. This study supported that indoor garden can have physiological and psychological relaxing effects, which could be more significant in Type A group than Type B.

Wear Behavior of C/B filled NR Compounds using a Blade-type Abrader (칼날형 마모시험기를 이용한 C/B충전 NR 배합고무의 마모거동)

  • Friction and wear behaviors of natural rubber(NR) compounds were investigated using a blade-type abrader. The effects of temperature, normal load, and rotation speed on wear rate were studied, and wear behaviors of deteriorated compounds were also evaluated. As the rotation speed of specimen and the normal load to specimen increased, the wear rate increased. However, as the experimental temperature increased, the frictional coefficient decreased and the wear rate decreased accordingly. It was found from the wear studies that a power-law relation works between the frictional work input and the wear rate. It was observed that the wear rate dramatically increased by the degradation of the rubber specimen. The wear pattern was developed and the bigger ridge space of the pattern was observed usually in the higher normal load applied. In determining the wear rate of rubber compound, the continuous measurements of wear distance using the blade-type abrader could be successfully used instead of intermittent measurements of wear-loss weight.

  • The wear behavior of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and butadiene rubber (BR) was investigated using a blade-type abrader with a steel blade (SB), Ti-coated tungsten carbide blade (TiB), or zirconia blade (ZB). The wear rate of SBR against SB and TiB decreased with increasing number of revolutions because of the blunting of the blades during wear. However, the wear rate of SBR against ZB remained nearly constant with little blade blunting. Generally, the wear rate of BR was largely unaffected by the blade material used for abrasion. The wear rate and frictional coefficient of SBR were found to be higher than those of BR at similar levels of frictional energy input. A power-law relationship was found between the wear rate and frictional energy input during abrasion. A well-known Schallamach pattern was observed for SBR, while a much finer pattern was observed for BR. The blade material affects the wear rate of the rubbers because the macromolecular free radicals and blade tend to undergo mechano-chemical reactions. The inorganic ZB was found to be the most inert for such a mechanism.

Dynamic Behavior of the Breasting Dolphin Caused by Wave Power (파력에 의한 돌핀의 거동 특성)

  • In this study, the behavior of breasting dolphin caused by the maximum wave height in the coastal area of Incheon has been investigated. The dynamic deflection, shear stress and moment of pile are analyzed using the coefficient of horizontal subgrade reaction resulted from loading tests for different DWT (Dead Weight Tonnage). The dynamic characteristics of pile in accumulated and dredged soils show almost the same pattern. It is shown that the resistance of dolphin to external load increases as the diameter of pile increases. The bettered pile dolphin is more than 10 times stable than the vertical pile type based on the study of dynamic characteristics of dolphin.
