  • The morphology, structure and melting behaviour of cold-crystallized isotactic polystyrene (iPS) were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The polymer was found to crystallize according to the dual-lamellar stack model. The two populations of lamellae, along with a melting-recrystallization phenomenon, determined the appearance of multiple melting peaks in DSC traces. The annealing peak was attributed to the relaxation of a rigid amorphous phase, rather than to the melting of crystalline material.

  • When performing Chest x-ray examination to pregnant woman, normally we shield back side of abdomen. In this situation, scattered rays made by equipment and surrounding structure can enter front side of abdomen. Therefore, in this study, we evaluate suitability of abdomen shield especially to pregnant woman. In case of One shielding material placed back of abdomen, the measured value is $0.676{\pm}0.19uSv/hr$. Two shielding material is $0.764{\pm}0.04uSv/hr$. Three is $0.685{\pm}0.16uSv/hr$. The exposure dose inferred in this study does not excess annual effective dose limit. But It is not mean absolute safety. So we have to minimize occurrence of stochastic effect of radiosensitivity by shielding front side of abdomen of pregnant woman in clinic.

  • Series of experiments were conducted to determine lethal does of X-ray and Neutron on Toxoplasma gondii. strain RH and IRI. As well morphological changes of Toxoplasma gondii irradiated or not were compared by use of electron microscope. The pathogenicity test of the irradiated and nonirradiated Toxoplasma gondii was made in mice guinea-pigs, rabbits and pigs: The letahl dose of X-ray and Neutron on RH and IRI strain and the growth rate between two strains after irradiation were shown little differences. Morphological changes were not observed until 18th passage was made. After then, the growth rate was decreased apparently, and atrophied forms were frequently observed in electron microscope. Survival time of animals inoculated with irradiated strain was longer than that of animals giving non-irradiated strain, and Toxoplasma gondii were isolated from all the dead animals. But it is of interest that pigs survived after injection of Toxoplasma gondii remained health and much attempts were failed toisolate Toxplasma gondii remained health and much attempts were slaughtered them. Animals were succumbed after injection of Toxoplasma gondii without any relationship with serum titers. (HA antibody).

  • This study was designed to obtain the basic data developing the UV ray protective garments for the plastichouse workers. Two subjects were volunteered for 1hr. wear test in plastic house, and the ensembles was composed of one of three kinds blouse (UV blocking blouse, polyester/cotton 47/53 blouse, and polyester blouse), shorts, sleeveless undershirts, pants and socks. The measurements were rectal temperature, skin temperature, microclimate inside clothing, subjective sensation, and the colour difference of UV sensor. The results were as follows: 1. Microclimate especially, temperature inside clothing of polyester blouse was the highest among the garments. And UV-proof polyester blouse showed the lower mean skin temperature and microclimate than others. Showing the highest sweat volume. 2. No significant difference on UV ray blocking function among 3 kinds of garment was shown. 3. We could conform that in spring for the plastic house wぉw s garment low thermal insulating value and wide covering area were more important factors than UV blocking function of fabric.

  • In this paper, we describe the results of various calculations performed for a design of the thickness gauges that use the gamma-ray backscattering method. The radiation source is assumed to be the $_{24}$1Am(60keV gamma-ray) and the detector is a single crystal scintillator in a cylindrical form. The source is located at the center of the detector with the collimator of a cylindrical shape. First, when gamma-rays are incident on a material with a constant angle, we compute the variations of the spectrum for the photons scattered into different angular intervals. Next, we compute for an optimal size for the collimator cylinder for a fixed detector size and an optimal distance from the detector to the material. Finally, we compute the number of observed photons for different thickness of two different materials, a plastic film and an Al foil.

  • Characterization of special nuclear material may be performed using energy spectroscopy of either the neutron or gamma-ray emissions from the sample. Gamma-ray spectroscopy can be performed relatively easily using high-resolution semiconductors such as high-purity germanium. Neutron spectroscopy, by contrast, is a complex inverse problem. Here, results are presented for $^{252}Cf$ and PuBe energy spectra unfolded using a single EJ309 organic scintillator; excellent agreement is observed with the reference spectra. Neutron energy spectroscopy is also possible using a two-plane detector array, whereby time-of-flight kinematics can be used. With this system, energy spectra can also be obtained as a function of position. Spatial-dependent energy spectra are presented for neutron and gamma-ray sources that are in excellent agreement with expectations.

  • Three dimensional shape measurement techniques are widely needed in industries for product quality monitoring and control. X-ray imaging method is a promising technology to achieve three-dimensional Information, both the surface and inner structure of an object, since it can overcome the limitations of conventional visual or optical methods such as an occlusion problem or surface reflection properties. In this paper, we propose three dimensional volume reconstruction method based on x-ray stereo imaging technology. Here, the stereo images of an object from two different views are taken by changing the object pose rather than moving imaging plane as in conventional stereo vision method. We propose a series of image processing techniques to extract the features efficiently from x-ray images, where the occluded features in case of normal camera vision could be found ...

  • Mather type dense plasma focus device was develooped for the feasibili쇼 study in its application to the x-ray lithography. To etermine the electrical characteristics, the temporal begavior of the discharge current and the voltage was measured by using the Rogowski coil and the high voltage probe respectively. The results are 9 $\mu\textrm{s}$ of the period, 18m$\Omega$ of resistance and 0.16$\mu$Η of inductance. The average current sheath velocity was measured by the light signal emitted at the moving plasma sheath. The light signal was detected through two fiber bundles. When the applied voltage was 13 kV and the initial jpressure of argon was 21.8 Pa, the best plasma focus was occurred. The x-ray emission characteristics from the plasma focus was determined by the x-ray pictures taken by pinhole camera. It is focus that the plasma was focused at 1.4 cm distant position above the center electrode and its diameter was about 1.0 m.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to have better data and to make efficient clinical reviews about children's growth based on two methods; X-ray of hand, and ultrasound of calcaneus. Methods : The study was composed of 100 patients(50 of boys and 50 of girls) who visited in department of pediatrics, O O university oriental hospital considering growth and their development. Bone age was measured by the TW3 method's RUS score in simple X-ray image of hand and bone density through ultrasonic image of calcaneus. To predict children's estimated height, their parent's height, bone age, and present height's percentile was measured. Results and Conclusions : 1. The bone age results from X-ray image of hand and ultrasonic image of calcaneus were correlated. Younger children have older bone age from hand's X-ray than the one from calcaneus's ultrasound. Older children have older bone age from calcaneus's ultrasound than one from hand's X-ray. 2. Predicted adult height by bone age(BH) of hand's X-ray and BH of calcaneus's ultrasound were correlated, but predicted adult height by inheritance(IH) was not correlated with others. 3. Bone age and predicted adult height were correlated with age, height, weight, BMI, and especially with age and height. 4. Measuring bone age by X-ray image of hand and ultrasonic image of calcaneus was simple and effective way of estimating children's growth and development.
