  • This paper presents a novel prototype version of ZCS-PWM forward DC-DC power converter using power MOSFETs which is designed for application specific low voltage large current conversion operation. The soft-switching forward power converter with a high frequency isolated transformer link which can efficiency operate over wide load ranges under two conditions of ZCS as well as active voltage clamped switching is evaluated and discussed on the basis of the simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents a novel prototype of ZCS-PFM high frequency series resonant inverter using IGBT power module for electromagnetic induction eddy current-heated roller in copy and printing machines. The operating principle and unique features of this voltage source half bridge inverter with two additional soft commutation inductor snubber are presented including the transformer modeling of induction heated rolling drum. This soft switching inverter can achieve stable zero current soft commutation under a discontinuous and continuous resonant load current for a widely specified power regulation processing. The experimental results and computer-aided analysis of this inverter are discussed from a practical point of view.

  • A new single stage power factor correction(PFC) AC/DC converter based on zero voltage switching(ZVS) full bridge topology is proposed. Since the series-connected two transformers act as both output inductor and main transformer by turns, the proposed converter has a wide ZVS range without additional devices for ZVS. Furthermore, since there is no need to use an output inductor, the proposed converter features high power density. The proposed converter gives the good power factor correction and low line current harmonics distortion. A mode analysis and experiment results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed converter.

A Quadrature VCO Exploiting Direct Back-Gate Second Harmonic Coupling

  • This paper proposes a novel quadrature VCO(QVCO) based on direct back-gate second harmonic coupling. The QVCO directly couples the current sources of the conventional LC VCOs through the back-gate instead of front-gate to generate quadrature signals. By the second harmonic injection locking, the two LC VCOs can generate quadrature signals without using on-chip transformer, or stability problem that is inherent in the direct front-gate second harmonic coupling. The proposed QVCO is implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology operating at 2 GHz with 5.0 mA core current consumption from 1.8 V power supply. The measured phase noise of the proposed QVCO is - 63 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset, -95 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset, and -116 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the 2 GHz output frequency, respectively. The calculated figure of merit(FOM) is about -174 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. The measured image band rejection is 46 dB which corresponds to the phase error of $0.6^{\circ}$.

  • This paper describes a phase-shifter which can flexibly adjust the active and reactive power flow through an ac transmission line. The phase-shifter has two voltage-source converters sharing an energy storage capacitor. The magnitude of the injected voltage is controlled by the converter I connected in parallel with the sending terminal, while that of phase angle by the converter II in series with the line through the coupling transformer. In order to analyze the whole system operation, an equivalent circuit model was developed and verified by a computer simulation with EMTP code.

  • In this paper, a parallel operation of two single-phase GTO PWM converters is presented. The current ripples on the primary side of the transformer can be much reduced by shifting one modulation period from the other one by a half period. Also, a simple power factor control scheme is presented by which the reactive component of converter input current is controlled. Simulations and experimental results for a laboratory system confirm the validity of the purposed algorithm.

  • 현재 전압변성기는 기존의 철심형 전압변성기에서 전자식전압변성기로 변화하고 있으며, 전자식 전압변성기의 비오차와 위상각 오차를 정확하게 평가하는 것은 전자식 전압변성기의 보급에 중요하다. 표준전압변성기 두 대와 전압변성기 비교기를 이용하여 22 kV급 전자식 전압변성기의 비오차와 위상각 오차를 평가할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하였으며, 시스템의 불확도를 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, we studied a accuracy for CT using elastic epoxy. According to industry development, the quality where also the electric material is various is demanded. Insulation material is widely used because epoxy is superior to electrical and mechanical property. Until now, the possibility where the crack will occur is high because epoxy used to electrical products had high hardness. If thermal expansion is different of two material, contraction of epoxy heavily transformed turns ratio of CT Elastic epoxy absorbed in expansion and contraction of substance material by temperature. So we could design more exacted CT We had elastic test of elastic epoxy and made CT using elastic epoxy. At the result, We obtained turns ratio of within 4% superior to existing CT.

  • A field-oriented UHF system for on-line PD monitoring of transformers. is designed, which has been installed inside the oil tank of a transformer by two ways: on-line installing mode through the oil-valve and pre-installing mode through the man hole/hand hole cover. This system has successfully captured long intermittent discharge signals that hadn't been detected through conventional techniques, and solved the problem successfully. The results demonstrate that UHF technique has great advantages for on-line PD monitoring of transformers. By adopting the peak detection technique, it becomes easy and effective for the transplantation of the phase-resolved pattern recognition technique from conventional method to UHF method, and then to realize continuous on-line monitoring, source characterization and trending analysis.

  • This paper presents an output ripple reduction of Active-Clamp Forward Converter, which is mainly composed of interleaving two active-clamping forward converters. By interleaving, Output ripple is reduced. The leakage inductance of the transformer or an additional resonant inductance is employed to achieve ZVS during the dead times. The duty cycles are not limited to be equal and within 50%. The complementary switching and the resulted interleaved output inductor currents diminish the current ripple in output capacitors. Accordingly, the smaller output chokes and capacitors lower the converter volume and increase the power density. Detailed analysis of this ouput reduction of Active-Clamp Forward Converter is described.
