This paper presents a robot which is steered by vision system. The proposed robot system has an AM188ES CPU(5.3 MIPS) and 2DC motors with encoder and turns accurately at any speed and shows a movement like a human controlled car using a steering wheel. To the robot only steering angle value is sent without considering the speed. We present how to control this robot using our real time vision system.

This paper suggests the condensed two-stage retrieval method for fast image retrieval in the content-based image retrieval system, and proves the validity of the performance. The condensed two-stage retrieval method reduces the overall response time remarkably while it maintains relevance with the conventional exhaustive search method. It is explained by properties of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality. In experimental result, it turns out that there is an optimal value of condensation ratio which minimizes the overall response time. We analyze the optimal condensation ratio by modeling a similarity computation time mathematically.

CORBA has been a popular middleware, but recently Web Services has been emerging as a promising web middleware since it uses Internet established standards such as URL, HTTP, XML, and etc. CORBA uses IDL for describing CORBA object interface and Web Services uses WSDL for its description. Thus, in order to port or integrate CORBA objects into Web Services, one needs to understand the relationship between CORBA IDL and WSDL. In this paper, we analyze IDL and WSDL, and compare between two. It turns out that there exists a direct mapping between two, and that understanding operational environments and logic of two technologies is much more important in converting or integrating CORBA objects into Web services successfully.

A three-state Markov logistic regression model is suggested to forecast the probability of tomorrow's precipitation based on the current meteorological situation. The suggested model turns out to be better than Markov regression model in the sense of the mean squared error of forecasting for the rainfall data of Seoul area.

In English we find two aspectual menaings, progressiveness and habits, which do not seem to fit in any of the classical four situation types of state, activity, accomplishment and achievement, established by Vendler in 1967. This paper analyzes the aspectual features of progressiveness and habits to find out their similarities to and differences from Vendler's four types. It turns out that the progressiveness has the same features as those of activity, and that the habits has independent combination of aspectual features distinguished from any of the four types.

Kernel machines are used widely in real-world regression tasks. Kernel ridge regressions(KRR) and support vector machines(SVM) are typical kernel machines. Here, we focus on two types of KRR. One is inductive KRR. The other is transductive KRR. In this paper, we study how differently they work in the interpolation and extrapolation areas. Furthermore, we study prediction interval estimation method for KRR. This turns out to be a reliable and practical measure of prediction interval and is essential in real-world tasks.

In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors for the linear mixed models when the parameter of interest is the ratio of variance components. We developed the first and second order matching priors. We reveal that the one-at-a-time reference prior satisfies the second order matching criterion. It turns out that the two group reference prior satisfies a first order matching criterion, but Jeffreys' prior is not first order matching prior. Some simulation study is performed.

A modified repetitive control is formulated and analyzed in the discrete-time domain. Sufficient conditions for the stability of a class of repetitive controllers are given by means of the regeneration spectrum method. When a periodic signal input is drived into the two-mass-spring plant, the performance of the proposed controller which comprises a low-pass filter and two feed-forward compensators, turns out highly accurate by comparing the tracking result from the conventional LQ controller.

The new concept of dry area formation based on Poisson distribution of active nucleation sites and the concept of the critical active site density is presented. A simple statistical model is developed to predict the change of slope of the boiling curve up to critical heat flux (CHF) quantitatively. The predictions by the present model are in good agreement with the experimental data. Also it turns out that the present model well explains the mechanism on how the surface wettability influences CHF.

본 논문에서는 트리 기반 대화 인터페이스에서 수신되는 대화 메시지를 기록하는 위치에 의한 대화 창의 이동을 최소화하는 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 트리 기반 대화 인터페이스에서 수신되는 대화 메시지의 응답 관계에 따라 대화 메시지를 기록하는 위치가 분산되어 위치할 수 있다. 이러한 다양한 위치에 의하여 대화 인터페이스에서 대화 창의 이동이 많아짐으로 대화자가 대와의 내용을 파악하기 어렵다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 트리 기반 대화 인터페이스에서 대화자가 최근 접근한 대화 메시지 정보를 이용하여 대화창의 이동을 최소화하는 방법을 기술한다. 적용 예로서 XML과 JAVA를 이용하여 구현하였으며 응용분야로는 온라인 게임과 원격 교육 등이다.
