Analyzing Survival Data by Proportional Reversed Hazard Model

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce a proportional reversed hazard rate model, in contrast to the celebrated proportional hazard model, and study some of its structural properties. Some criteria of ageing are presented and the inheritance of the ageing notions (of the base line distribution) by the proposed model are studied. Two important data sets are analyzed: one uncensored and the other having some censored observations. In both cases, the confidence bands for the failure rate and survival function are investigated. In one case the failure rate is bathtub shaped and in the other it is upside bath tub shaped and thus the failure rates are non-monotonic even though the baseline failure rate is monotonic. In addition, the estimates of the turning points of the failure rates are provided.

해양조사선 참바다호의 조종성능에 관한 연구 (A study on the maneuverabilities of the marine research vessel CHARMBADA)

  • This study was intended to determine the maneuverability of the vessel CHARMBADA. When the rudder angle was at $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}$, the maximum advance by slow, half and full ahead were varied in the range of 523.6-131.3m, 528.8-177.2m and 530.6-219.7m, respectively. The maximum transfer was 799.9-181.3m, 792.1-232.8m and 807.7-316.9m, respectively. The turning circle ability was better during starboard turning. When the rudder angle was $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}$, variation in the maximum advances was 392.0m, 245.0m and 153.0m. The maximum transfer was 528.0m, 339.0m and 218.0m, respectively based on the regression equations. As the rudder angle became bigger, the maximum advance or maximum transfer became smaller by the exponential function. The advance inertia took 127sec, 145sec, 181sec each until the vessel speed was 7.0konts, 12.0konts, 17.0konts. The static inertia took 245sec, 269sec, 300sec each until the vessel speed was under 2.0konts and the advance distance was 114.4m, 181.2m, 197.0m each. Accordingly, the static inertia was inclined to increase to scale according to the increase in vessel speed. For the CHARMBADA, the smaller the rudder angle was, the much bigger the turning circle became due to adhesion to the skeg, thereby lowering the vessel's turning ability.

  • Hand function evaluations are an important element of the assessment process in physical rehabilitation settings. The purpose of this study was to investigate hand function evaluation. Subjects consisted of 20 with spastic cerebral palsy(mean age = 9.8, SD = 1.6) and 20 with athetoid cerebral palsy(mean age = 9.6, SD = 2.3). Two groups of subjects were tested twice(pretest and posttest) by the JHFT to measure evaluations of hand function. These findings suggest that on four subtests - writing, card turning, large heavy objects and Stacking Checker-the spastic cerebral palsy perform significantly faster than athetoid cerebral palsy. But there were no significant differences between the pretest and posttest in spastic and athetoid cerebral palsy. To see the statistical differences in the experimental results was done using origin V. 3.0.

  • A stock removal cycle is developed as a programming tool of the CNC lathe. This cycle support the easiness and swifness of a part program generation in the shopfloor. The cycle contains the function of tool path generation of rough/finish cutting, of avoidance air-cut for non-cylindrical (die-casted, forged) workpiece, and of the tool collisopn detection/aviodance. Consequently the intelligent stock removal cycle results in improving the productivity and safety of CNC lathe.

  • The objective of this study were to determine new air conditioning's selling possibility and discriminate it's market in Pusan and Daegu. The data were collected by using questionnaire. On the basis of the findings. These are follwing conclusions : Come to think of using rates of air conditioning. Function of air conditioning in house is not satisfied nowadays. Residents prefer it's function of cooling plus heating to only cooling in order to use a air conditioning in winter and the turning point of the season. And the air conditioning should be furnished economy, environment, convenience, amenity, safety.

  • This paper presents the numerical simulation results of heat transfer and friction loss for a rotating two-pass duct with the airfoil-guide vanes in the turning region. The Kriging model is used as an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes analysis of flow field and heat transfer with shear stress transport turbulent model. To improve the heat transfer performance, angle and location of the airfoil-guide vanes have been selected as design variables. The optimization problem has been defined as a minimization of the objective function, which is defined as a linear combination of heat transfer related term and friction loss related term with a weight factor. The airfoil-guide vanes in the turning region keep the high level of heat transfer while the friction loss has a low value. By comparing the presence or absence of airfoil-guide vanes, it is shown that the airfoil-guide vanes exhibited the best heat transfer performance to improve the blade cooling except the first passage.

  • The control of diamond turning is usually achieved through a laser-interferometer feedback of slide position. If the tool post is rigid and the material removal process is relatively static, then such a non-collocated position feedback control scheme may surface. However, as the accuracy requirement gets tighter and desired surface contours become more complex, the need for a direct tool-tip sensing becomes inevitable. The physical constraints of the machining process prohibit any reasonable implementation of a tool-tip motion measurement. It is proposed that the measured force normal to the face of the workpiece can be filtered through an appropriate admittance transfer function to result in the estimated depth of cut. This can be compared to the desired depth of cut to generate the adjustment control action in addition to position feedback control. In this work, the design methodology on the admittance model-based control with a conventional controller is presented. The recursive least-squares algorithm with forgetting factor is proposed to identify the parameters and update the cutting process in real time. The normal cutting forces are measured to identify the cutting dynamics in the real diamond turning process using the precision dynamometer. Based on the parameter estimation of cutting dynamics and the admittance model-based nanodynamic control scheme, simulation results are shown.

  • The urine analysis system implemented to measuring the primary color reaction of urinalysis strip. Fuzzy classifier based on fuzzy theory implemented so as to classify of 9 items in the urinalysis strip and proposed the automatic turning algorithm of mambership function in the fuzzy classifier to progress the reproduction of classify. To evaluation of clinical capability, the fuzzy classifier and automatic turning algorithm apples to standard strip and standard reagent.

파랑 표류력을 고려한 선박의 파랑 중 선회성능 해석 (Numerical Analysis of Turning Performance in Waves by Considering Wave Drift Forces)

  • This paper performs a numerical computation of ship maneuvering performance in waves. For this purpose, modular-type model (MMG (Mathematical Modeling Group) model) is adopted for maneuvering simulation and wave drift force is included in the equation of maneuvering motion. In order to compute wave drift force, two different seakeeping programs are used: AdFLOW based on Wave Green function method and SWAN based on Rankine panel method. When wave drift force is calculated using SWAN program, not only ship forward speed but also ship lateral speed are considered. By doing this, effects of lateral speed on wave drift force and maneuvering performance in waves are confirmed. The developed method is validated by comparing turning test results in regular waves with existing experimental data. Sensitivities of wave drift force on maneuvering performance are, also, checked.
