In this paper, by using the Rayleigh-Sommer field theory and the cross-spectral density function, the analytical expression for the intensity distribution of a double half-Gaussian hollow beam in a turbulent atmosphere is obtained. The influence of the initial spot size of this beam on its propagation properties in a turbulent atmosphere is simulated, and the intensity distributions for such beams with different spot sizes are obtained. The results show that the initial spot size has an important influence on the propagation properties in the near field, while this influence in the far field is very weak.

Recent experimental data shows that an irregular fuel surface pops up during the combustion test. This may contribute to the agitated boundary layer due to blowing effect of fuel vaporization. Blowing effect can be of significance in determining the combustion characteristics of solid fuel within the oxidizer flow. LES was implemented to investigate the flow behavior on the fuel surface and turbulence evolution due to blowing effect. Simple channel geometry was used for the investigation instead of circular grain configuration without chemical reactions. This may elucidate the main mechanism responsible for the formation of irregular isolated spots during the combustion in terms of turbulence generation. The interaction of turbulent flow with blowing mass flus causes to breakup turbulent coherent structures and to form the small scale isolated eddies near the fuel surface. This mechanism attributes to the formation of irregular isolated sopt on the fuel surface.

Recent experimental data shows that the noticeable feature of irregular roughened spots on the fuel surface occurs during the combustion test. The generation of these unexpected patterns is likely to be resulted from the disturbed boundary layer due caused by wall blowing which is intended to simulate the process of fuel vaporization. LES without chemical reaction was conducted to investigate the flow characteristics at the near-fuel surface and the behavior of turbulent structures which is evolved by the wall blowing at the Reynolds number of 23,000. Cylindrical geometry was considered to get the most reality of the calculation results because real hybrid rocket motor is circular grain configuration. It was shown that the wall blowing pushed turbulent structures upwards making them tilted and this skewed displacement, in effect, left the foot prints of the structures on the surface. This change of kinematics may explain the formation of irregular isolated spots on the fuel surface observed in the experiment.

The piezoelectric bimorph film, which, as an actuator, can generate more effective displacement than the usual PVDF film, is used to control the turbulent boundary-layer flow. The change of wall pressures inside the turbulent boundary layer is observed by using the multi-channel microphone array flush-mounted on the surface when actuation at the non-dimensional frequency $f_b^+$:=0.008 and 0.028 is applied to the turbulent boundary layer. The wall pressure characteristics by the actuation to produce local displacement are more dominantly influenced by the size of the actuator module than the actuation frequency. The movement of large-scale turbulent structures to the upper layer is found to be the main mechanism of the reduction in the wall- pressure energy spectrum when the 700$700{\nu}/u_{\tau}$-long bimorph film is periodically actuated at the non- dimensional frequency $f_b^+$:=0.008 and 0.028. The biomorph actuator is triggered with the time delay for the active forcing at a single frequency when a 1/8' pressure-type, pin-holed microphone sensor detects the large-amplitude pressure event by the turbulent spot. The wall-pressure energy in the late-transitional boundary layer is partially reduced near the convection wavenumber by the open-loop control based on the large amplitude event.
Experimental study was conducted to obtain the air velocity profiles in turbulent pipe flow. The acrylic smooth pipe (${\phi}=80mm$) was used for the test section of the flow loop. It was known that the velocity profiles of turbulent flow were different with Reynolds numbers and the viscous sublayer was usually quite thin. The following conclusions were drawn from the experimental investigations. Maximum velocity of the pipe center and flow-rate are useful for the duct design on the spot. The velocity profiles of high Reynolds number was flatter than those of low Reynolds number. It was known that the exponent, n, for power-law velocity profiles was $6{\sim}9$ depending on Reynolds number ranging from $10^4$ to $10^5$ in the turbulent flow, However, in this experiment study, it was $9{\sim}14$ depending on Reynolds number ranging from 17,000 to 123,727 in the turbulent flow, and $1.7{\sim}3.5$ depending on Reynolds number ranging from 2,442 to 4,564 in the transition region.

Large Eddy Simulation(LES) has been conducted to insight interaction effects of turbulent flow and chemical reaction of a lean-Premixed swirl combustor. The unsteady turbulent flame is carefully simulated so that the motion of flow and flame can be characterized in detail. Fuel lumps escaping from the primary combustion zone move downstream and consequently produce local hot spots conveying large vortical structures in the azimuthal direction. The correlation between pressure oscillation and unsteady heat release is examined by the spatial and temporal Rayleigh parameter.

Recent experimental data shows that the noticeable feature of irregular roughened spots on the fuel surface occurs during the combustion test with PMMA/GOX in the hybrid rocket motor. The generation of these unexpected patterns is likely to be resulted from the disturbed boundary layer due caused by wall blowing which is intented to simulate the process of fuel vaporization. LES technique was implemented to investigate both the flow characteristics near fuel surface and the subsequent evolution of turbulence modified by the wall blowing. Simple channel geometry instead of circular grain configuration was used for the investigation without chemical reactions in order to allow for a focused examination on the near-wall behavior at the Reynolds number of 22,500. It was shown that the wall blowing pushed turbulent structures upwards making them tilted and this skewed displacement, in effect, left the foot prints of the structures on the surface. This change of kinematics may explain the formation of irregular isolated spots on the fuel surface observed in the experiment.
Combustion using pure oxygen instead of air is an energy saving technology that can increase thermal efficiency by the improvement of burning rate and ultra high temperature flame, being used on the industrial spot. But information about it is not so enough yet. Flame figure, temperature distribution and emission concentration were measured with oxygen excess ratio and swirl number in a turbulent diffusion flame to investigate the combustion characteristics using pure oxygen. The results showed that flame figure became different as long as oxygen excess ratio varied and that concentration of NO and CO increased suddenly around ${\lambda}$=1.5.

A modified $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$model is proposed for calculation of transitional boundary-layer flows with changing pressure gradient. In order to develop the model for this problem, the flow is divided into three regions; pre-transition region, transition region and fully turbulent region. The effect of pressure gradient is taken into account in stream-wise intermittency factor, which bridges the eddy-viscosity models in the pre-transition region and the fully turbulent region. From intermittency data in various flows, Narashima's intermittency function, F(${\gamma}$), has been found to be proportional to $\chi$$^{n}$ according to the extent of pressure gradient. Three empirical correlations of intermittency factor being analyzed, the best one was chosen to calculate three benchmark cases of bypass transition flows with different free-stream turbulence intensity under arbitrary pressure gradient. It was found that the variations of skin friction and shape factor as well as the profiles of mean velocity in the transition region were very satisfactorily predicted.

In this paper, the temperature characteristics of mold transformer for the distribution power system have been analyzed by using computational fluid dynamics(CFD). The model has been modeled by coil, cores, insulating materials and frames about 3MVA grade mold transformer and analyzed the temperature distribution of the structure with a heat fluid. The fluid, which is incompressible ideal gas, is analyzed as a turbulent flow phenomenon on the assumption that it is natural cooling of transformer cooling system. Through this study, by examining the temperature distribution and hot-spot of the structure field of the mold transformer, cooling design and temperature distribution information, which are demanded for designing are estimated.
