발전소 시뮬레이터를 위한 고압 터빈 바이패스 압력 제어 모델 개발 (Development of a High Pressure Turbine Bypass System Pressure Control Model for Power Plant Simulator)

  • 국산 개발 분산 제어시스템의 발전 설비에의 적용을 위해서는 시뮬레이터를 이용한 제어 시스템의 기능 및 신뢰성 등의 검증이 선행되어야만 한다. 본 논문에서는 제어 시스템 검증용 시뮬레이터를 개발하는데 있어서, 제어 모델 중 발전소 기동 초기에 보일러 압력을 조절하고, 정상 운전 중 보일러의 과대 압력 상승을 방지하기 위해 보일러에서 발생한 증기를 복수기로 방출하는 터빈 바이패스 계통의 제어 모델을 개발하였다. 제어 모델 개발을 위해, 통합 시뮬레이션 개발 환경에서 활용가능한 제어 로직 구현 툴을 개발하였다. 또한 개발한 툴의 기능은 개별 기능 블럭의 설계 사양에 기반한 시뮬레이션에 의해 검증을 하였으며, 개발한 툴을 이용하여 고압 터빈 바이패스 계통의 압력 제어 로직을 구현하였다. 500 MW급 표준 석탄화력 발전소 공정 모델과 보일러 제어 모델, 터빈 제어 모델 등 타 계통의 제어 모델과의 연계를 통한 통합 시뮬레이션을 통해 개발한 제어 모델의 효용성을 확인하였다.

  • Many years ago, most of thermal power plants built in this country were of subcritical pressure, of medium or small size, of constant pressure operations and of drum type steam generators with circulation type boilers. But, nowadays almost all of them were of high efficiency, of supercritical pressure, of big capacity, of sliding pressure operations, and of once through type steam generator. It has such advantage as the reduction of startup duration, but it control system and operation method are very complicated. It has a big difference in operation method of turbine and boiler. The feedforward control needs to be introduced to prevent such problems as thermal shock during the transit from normal operation into bypass operation. This paper introduces the turbine control and turbine bypass control during startup of thermal power plants.

Simulation for Pitch Angle Control Strategies of a Grid-Connected Wind Turbine System on MATLAB/Simulink

  • This paper presents a pitch angle controller of a grid-connected wind turbine system for extracting maximum power from wind and implements a modeling and simulation of the wind turbine system on MATLAB/Simulink. It discusses the maximum power control algorithm for the wind turbine and presents, in a graphical form, the relationship of wind turbine output, rotor speed, and power coefficient with wind speed when the wind turbine is operated under the maximum power control algorithm. The objective of pitch angle control is to extract maximum power from wind and is achieved by regulating the blade pitch angle during above-rated wind speeds in order to bypass excessive energy in the wind. Case studies demonstrate that the pitch angle control is carried out to achieve maximum power extraction during above-rated wind speeds and effectiveness of the proposed controller would be satisfactory.

Experimental measurement for wall static pressure has been carried out to validate numerical solutions. And, the flowfield is analyzed by solving steady three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. Shear stress transport (SST) model is used as turbulence closure. The effects of the flow area between stages of the cage on the pressure drop are also found.

  • Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) dynamic matrix control (DMC) technique is applied to control steam temperatures in a large-scale ultrasupercritical once-through boiler-turbine system. Specifically, four output variables (i.e., outlet temperatures of platen superheater, finish superheater, primary reheater, and finish reheater) are controlled using four input variables (i.e., two spray valves, bypass valve, and damper). The step-response matrix for the MIMO DMC is constructed using the four input and the four output variables. Online optimization is performed for the MIMO DMC using the model predictive control technique. The MIMO DMC controller is implemented in a full-scope power plant simulator with satisfactory performance.

  • In the present work, flow characteristics analysis has been performed for steam turbine bypass control valve (single-path type). The numerical analysis is performed by solving three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. Shear stress transport (SST) model is used as turbulence closure. Symmetry condition is applied at the mid plane of the valve while adiabatic condition is used at the outer wall of the cage. Grid independency test is performed to find the optimal number of grid points. The pressure and temperature distributions on the outer wall of the cage are analyzed. Mass flow rate at maximum plug opening condition is compared with the designed mass flow rate.
