While various automatic rock fracture survey methods have been researched, the evaluation of the accuracy of these methods raises issues due to the absence of a metric which fully expresses the similarity between automatic and manual fracture maps. Therefore, this paper proposes a geometry similarity metric which is especially designed to determine the overall similarity of fracture maps and to evaluate the accuracy of rock fracture survey methods by a single number. The proposed metric, Scanline Intersection Similarity (SIS), is derived by conducting a large number of scanline surveys upon two fracture maps using Python code. By comparing the frequency of intersections over a large number of scanlines, SIS is able to express the overall similarity between two fracture maps. The proposed metric was compared with Intersection Over Union (IoU) which is a widely used evaluation metric in computer vision. Results showed that IoU is inappropriate for evaluating the geometry similarity of fracture maps because it is overly sensitive to minor geometry differences of thin elongated objects. The proposed metric, on the other hand, reflected macro-geometry differences rather than micro-geometry differences, showing good agreement with human perception. The metric was further applied to evaluate the accuracy of a deep learning-based automatic fracture surveying method which resulted as 0.674 (SIS). However, the proposed metric is currently limited to 2D fracture maps and requires comparison with rock joint parameters such as RQD.
Scan-to-BIM can be precisely mod eled by measuring structures with Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) and build ing a 3D BIM (Building Information Modeling) model based on it, but has a limitation in that it consumes a lot of manpower, time, and cost. To overcome these limitations, studies are being conducted to perform semantic segmentation of 3D point cloud data applying deep learning algorithms, but studies on how segmentation result changes depending on learning data are insufficient. In this study, a parametric study was conducted to determine how the size and track type of railroad tunnels constituting learning data affect the semantic segmentation of railroad tunnels through deep learning. As a result of the parametric study, the similar size of the tunnels used for learning and testing, the higher segmentation accuracy, and the better results when learning through a double-track tunnel than a single-line tunnel. In addition, when the training data is composed of two or more tunnels, overall accuracy (OA) and mean intersection over union (MIoU) increased by 10% to 50%, it has been confirmed that various configurations of learning data can contribute to efficient learning.

A three-dimensional finite element analysis was performed to predict the location of a fault zone ahead of a tunnel face based on convergence displacement. Geometrical models for the numerical analysis were developed based on the possible geometric intersection between the fault zone and the tunnel. Fifteen fault models were generated from combinations of faults with five different strikes (at $15^{\circ}$ intervals) and three dips (vertical, $45^{\circ}$ and $-45^{\circ}$) relative to the tunnel route. The displacements on the crown and side walls were calculated and analyzed using a vector orientation approach. As a result, nine representative prediction charts were developed, showing location and orientation of the fault zone based on convergence displacement.
In performing seismic analysis of tunnels, it is a common practice to ignore the rock joints and to assume that the rock mass surrounding the tunnel is continuous. The applicability of this assumption has not yet been validated in detail. This study performs a series of pseudo-static discrete element analyses to evaluate the effect of rock joint on the seismic response of tunnels. The parameters considered are joint intersection location, joint spacing, joint stiffness, joint dip, and interface stiffness. The results show that the joint stiffness has the most critical influence on the tunnel response. The tunnel response increases with the spacing, resulting in localized concentration of moment and shear stress. The response of the tunnel is the lowest for joints dipping at $45^{\circ}$. This is because large shear stresses result in rotation of the principal planes by $45^{\circ}$. In summary, the weathered and smooth, vertical or horizontal, and widely spaced joint set will significantly increase the tunnel response under seismic loading. The tunnel linings are shown to be most susceptible to damage due to induced shear stress, and therefore should be checked in the seismic design.

In order to reduce traffic accident, the interaction between drivers and roads should be studied in drivers' behaviour standpoints, and then this must be applied to the establishment of the road design standard. The K-ROADS(KICT-Road Analysis Driving Simulator) was developed to analyze and evaluate the road safety at the project HuRoSAS(Human & Road Safety Analysis System), since 2003. This has two distinct functions. One is the visual system which has 360 degree F.O.V. to reduce a dead angle on black spots as at-grade intersection. The other is the motion system which reproduce high frequency vibration made in irregular road surface and vehicle's motion. The K-ROADS has been used the study on the effect of alternatives of speed hump, and the study on the interior wall design of long tunnel to safety standpoints.

Contrary to an intact rock, the jointed rock mass shows strain-dependent deformation characteristics (elastic modulus and damping ratio). The maximum elastic modulus of a rock mass can be obtained from an elastic wave-based exploration in a small strain level and applied to seismic analyses. However, the assessment and application of the non-linear characteristics of rock masses in a small to medium strain level ($10^{-4}{\sim}0.5%$) have not been carried out yet. A non-linear dynamic analysis module is newly developed for FLAC3D to simulate strain-dependent shear modulus degradation and damping ratio amplification characteristics. The developed module is verified by analyzing the change of the Ricker wave propagation. Strain-dependent non-linear characteristics are obtained from disks of cored samples using a rock mass dynamic testing apparatus which can evaluate wave propagation characteristics in a jointed rock column. Using the experimental results and the developed non-linear dynamic module, seismic analyses are performed for the intersection of a shaft and an inclined tunnel. The numerical results show that vertical and horizontal displacements of non-linear analyses are larger than those of linear analyses. Also, non-linear analyses induce bigger bending compressive stresses acting on the lining. The bending compressive stress concentrates at the intersection part. The fundamental understanding of a strain-dependent jointed rock mass behavior is achieved in this study and the analytical procedure suggested can be effectively applied to field designs and analyses.
For many rears, traffic accident statistics are the most direct measure of safety for a signalized intersection. However it takes more than 2 or 3 yearn to collect certain accident data for adequate sample sizes. And the accident data itself is unreliable because of the difference between accident data recorded and accident that is actually occurred. Therefore, it is rather difficult to evaluate safety for a intersection by using accident data. For these reasons, traffic conflict technique(TCT) was developed as a buick and accurate counter-measure of safety for a intersection. However, the collected conflict data is not always reliable because there is absence of clear criteria for conflict. This study developed objective and accurate conflict criteria, which is shown below based on traffic engineering theory. Frist, the rear-end conflict is regarded, when the following vehicle takes evasive maneuver against the first vehicle within a certain distance, according to car-following theory. Second, lane-change conflict is regarded when the following vehicle takes evasive maneuver against first vehicle which is changing its lane within the minimum stopping distance of the following vehicle. Third, cross and opposing-left turn conflicts are regarded when the vehicle which receives green sign takes evasive maneuver against the vehicle which lost its right-of-way crossing a intersection. As a result of correlation analysis between conflict and accident, it is verified that the suggested conflict criteria in this study ave applicable. And it is proven that estimating safety evaluation for a intersection with conflict data is possible, according to the regression analysis preformed between accident and conflict, EPDO accident and conflict. Adopting the conflict criteria suggested in this study would be both quick and accurate method for diagnosing safety and operational deficiencies and for evaluation improvements at intersections. Further research is required to refine the suggested conflict criteria to extend its application. In addition, it is necessary to develope other types of conflict criteria, not included in this study, in later study.
The procedures to correct sampling biases for discontinuity data obtained from 1D survey line(borehole or scanline) is addressed. The Probability of intersection between the survey line and a circular discontinuity is considered, and a correction far orientation bias is developed assuming discontinuities as equivalent circular disks. The correction incorporates the effect of the angle between the direction of survey line and each discontinuity plane belonging to the discontinuity cluster, size of each discontinuity and length of the survey line. A procedure is provided to estimate unbiased discontinuity spacing parameters using the discontinuity spacing data based on the measurements carried out on a finite length of the survey line.
Shut-in pressure, reopenting pressure and fracture orientation are very important parameters to be evaluated precisely in in-situ stress measurement by hydraulic fracturing. Graphical methods on pressure-time curves have been conventionally used, even though these are seriously dependent on subjectivity of interpreters. So there have been many demands on new method to objectivity in determining parameters. We have developed integrated hydrofracturing data processing program (HYDFRAC), based on nonlinear regression analysis and can be invoked under the Window graphical user interface. HYDFRAC consiste of three routines, that is shut-in pressure routine, reopening pressure routine, and fracture delineation routine. Each of routines include independent modules according to parameter determination methods. Its application to field tests ensured both objectivity and facility in determining of hydraulic fracturing parameters. Determining shut-in pressures at each pressurization cycles, we adopted the exponential pressure-decay method(EPD method), the bilinear pressure-decay-rate method (PDR method), and the tangent intersection method in order to find the pressurization-cyclic tendency of shut-in pressures. The estimated pressure by PDR method exists in the range of the upper and lower values by EPD method, and lies near to the upper value more than the lower. Being the pressurization cycle increased, the range of upper and lower limits come to be stabilized gradually. By graphical superposition method and bilinear pressure-accumulated volume method, reopening pressures were determined. Vertical and inclined fracture attitudes were determined by applying the directional statistics and sinusoidal curve fitting, respectively. The results of evaluation of hydrofracturing parameters showed that statistical methods could enhance the objectivity better than graphical methods.
