집적된 수동 소자 변동에 의한 RC 시상수 자동 보정 기법 (Automatic Tuning Architecture of RC Time-Constant due to the Variation of Integrated Passive Components)

  • 집적된 수동소자의 변동에 의한 RC 시상수 변동을 보정하는 on-chip 자동 보정(tuning)회로를 제안된 적분레벨 근사화 기법을 이용하여 설계하였다. 이 방법은 기존의 이중경사 보정회로가 갖는 결점인 미발생 코드 존재와 오류코드 발생을 해결할 수 있으며, 보정코드가 정상적인 동작을 할 때는 고정되기 때문에 집적회로에서 처리되는 신호의 변조를 유발하지 않는다. 이 보정회로는 적분기와 간단한 A/D 변환기 및 디지탈 제어 회로로 구성되며, 집적회로내의 모든 커패시터는 커패시터 열로 대체된 후 설정된 RC 시상수를 유지하도록 보정회로에 의해서 프로그램 된다. 설계된 자동 보정회로에 의하여 ${\pm}50%$의 시상수 변동율을 갖는 집적 시스템의 RC 시상수 오차범위는 4비트 보정로드의 경우 $-9.74{\sim}+9.69%$로 측정되었다.

  • This paper describes the procedure of getting information about auto-tuning of PID regulator by the injection of high step input, called limited input, during a transient time of control. The key point is that system identification and control could be continuously executed. This means that the system information obtained by limited input despite of system uncertainty can be continuously applied to the PI regulator. Simulation and experiment result of brushless DC motor system having monotone increasing step response demonstrate the usefulness of proposed auto-tuning algorithm.

  • Optical parametric oscillator(OPO) has been used to generate coherent and tunable laser source with birefringent phase-matching technique in various nonlinear materials. In birefringent phase-matching, the output wavelength is controlled with angle or temperature tuning of the refractive index. However these tuning methods have several limitations such as restriction of tuning wavelength due to reasonable angular and temperature tuning ranges, Poynting vector walk-off which limits the interaction length, and thermal stabilization time.   • An automatic tuning method of a PID controller which is used for single input single output processes is proposed. In the proposed tuning method, the frequency response data model is adopted along with the performance index which is an integral of time weighted square error between reference model and process frequency response data model for tuning. This method is easier to retune when either the process dynamics is changed or the reference model is changed. Finally, an example is provided to show the usefulness of the method.

  • A fine tuning on a control system is essential not only for stable operation but also for efficient operation of the power plant. There has been a very few studies on efficiency change by control system tuning. So, it was not clear that if it could be improved or not when the control is stable by fine tuning and how much it could be improved if it works. An accurate algorithm for measurement of the plant efficiency was newly introduced and implemented to measure integrated fuel flow and electricity MW output and to calculate the mean efficiency for given time. As a result, stable operation after fine tuning of control parameters for major controlled variables brought higher efficiency than un-stable operations like a cycling or an oscillation. The plant efficiency has been monitored during various tests and tunings to confirm how much it changes by tuning of the control system on power plant. Now, we can say that the efficiency can be improved in stable operation by fine tuning of the control system.

  • Recently the car tuning has become a trailblazing and creative culture that expresses the personality of the owner. In this paper, the "Car-Vatar", which is the compound word formed from the words "Car" and "Avatar", has been developed to investigate car tuning on the metaverse engineering platform. The Car-Vatar has been developed as a web-based vehicle dynamic simulation service for providing information about car tuning. That has been focused on investigating diverse vehicular performances, such as acceleration, braking, handling and fuel efficiency, according to the tuning vehicles and tuning parts on the virtual engineering platform. The Car-Vatar platform has provided two major services; one is real-time 3D tuning information system for the dress-up and performance-up tuning parts, the other is diverse vehicle dynamics system for the performance-up tuning parts. To check the validation of the Car-Vatar platform, the comparison between virtual simulation results and driving test results has been discussed on various driving environments.

  • In this paper, the robustness of self tuning controller for continuous time system is investigated. The continuous time least square algorithm is used in estimating parameters. The main control algorithm is the pole-zero placement control. The effects of unmodeled dynamics on continuous time approach and discrete-time approach are compared.

  • By far the PID controller is most widely sed in the process industries. However, current tuning methods yield PID parameters only for a restricted class of process models. There is no general methodology of PID controller tuning for arbitrary process models. In this paper, we generalize the IMC-PID approach and obtain the PID parameters for general models by approximating the ideal controller with a Maclaurin series. Further, the PID controller tuned by the proposed PID tuning method gave more closer closed-loop response to the desired response than those tuned by other tuning methods.

  • This paper presents an automatic tuning method for parameters of a multivaiable self-tuning velocity-type PID controller which adapts to changes in the system parameters with time delays and noises. The velocity-type PID control structure is determined in the process of minimizing the variance of the auxiliarly output, and self-tuning effect is achieved through the recursive least square algorithm at the parameter estimation stage and also through the Robbins-Monro algorithm at the stage of optiminzing the design parameters of the controller. The proposed PID type multivariable self-tuning method is simple andeffective compared with other esisting multivariable self-tuning methods. Computer simulation has shown that the proposed algorithm is beter than the trial-and-error method in the tracking performance.

  • Most control systems of power plants are using classical PID controllers for their process control. In order to get the desired control performances, the correct tuning of PID controllers is very important. Sometimes, it is necessary to retune PID controllers after the change of system operating condition and system design change, etc. Commercial auto-tuning controllers such as relay feedback controller can be used for this purpose. However, using these controllers to the safety-critical systems of nuclear power plants may be cause of unsafe operation, because they are using test signals for tuning. A new system identification auto-tuning method without using test signal has been developed in this paper. This method uses process input/output signals for system identification of unknown control process. From the model information of control process which was obtained from system identification approach, the optimal PID parameters can be calculated. The method can be used in the safety-critical systems because it is not using test signals during system modeling process.
