진공관형 태양열 집열기의 집열관 형상에 따른 태양 복사 에너지 흡수량의 변화 (Absorbing Rate of Solar Irradiation on Glass Evacuated Tube Collectors Depending on the Absorbing Tube Shape)

  • The absorbing rate of solar irradiation on the surface of an absorbing tube in a glass evacuated solar collector is numerically investigated. Four different shapes of the absorbing tubes are considered, and the absorbed solar irradiation on the surface is calculated for several distances between the absorbing tubes and the incidence angle of solar beam radiation. From the calculation, it is known that the absorbing rate of solar irradiation on the tube surfaces depends upon the shape and the arrangement of absorbing tube and the incidence angle.

  • The subframe type rear suspension consisting of a side member and a front/rear cross member is widely used in a medium car and full car. In the small car case, the beam of tubular type without independent suspension system is used to reduce manufacturing cost. In this study, a subframe type rear suspension by hydroforming has been developed. In designing suspension, a driving stability and durability should be considered as an important factor for the performance improvement, respectively. Thus, we focus on increasing the stiffness of suspension and decreasing the maximum stress affecting a durability cycle life. Several optimization design techniques such as shape, size, and topology optimization are implemented to meet these requirements. The shapes of rear suspension obtained from optimization are formed by using hydroforming process. Through commercial software based on the finite element, the superiority of this design method is demonstrated.

Beam-column behavior of concrete filled steel tubes

  • In the present investigation the experimental and theoretical flexural and compressive behavior of short tubular steel columns filled with plain concrete and fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) was examined. For a given length of the members, the effects of different geometry and dimensions of the transverse cross-section (square and circular) were investigated. Constituent materials were characterized through direct tensile tests on steel coupons and through compressive and split tension tests on concrete cylinders. Load-axial shortening and load-deflection curves were recorded for unfilled and composite members. Finally, simplified expressions for the calculus of the load-deflection curves based on the cross-section analysis were given and the ultimate load of short columns was predicted.

Vibration analysis of CFST tied-arch bridge due to moving vehicles

  • Based on the Model Coupled Method (MCM), a case study has been carried out on a Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular (CFST) tied arch bridge to investigate the vibration problem. The mathematical model assumed a finite element representation of the bridge together with beam, shell, and link elements, and the vehicle simulation employed a three dimensional linear vehicle model with seven independent degrees-of-freedom. A well-known power spectral density of road pavement profiles defined the road surface roughness for Perfect, Good and Poor roads respectively. In virtue of a home-code program, the dynamic interaction between the bridge and vehicle model was simulated, and the dynamic amplification factors were computed for displacement and internal force. The impact effects of the vehicle on different bridge members and the influencing factors were studied. Meanwhile the acceleration responses of some of the components were analyzed in the frequency domain. From the results some valuable conclusions have been drawn.

  • Laboratory tests are conducted to validate the mechanical model of a filament-wound composite shaft. Also, design charts are produced by validated analytical calculations based on the Timoshenko beam model of a layered steel/composite structure. The major results found are that steel/composite hybrid shafts can lead to better dynamic and static performances over steel or pure composite shafts of the same volume, and the most effective composite structures contain some steel in the form of a tubular core. These results can be used in the design process of composite boring bars and automotive drive shafts.

레이저 국소증착에 의한 탄소 미세 구조물 제조 및 분광분석 (Fabrication of micro carbon structures using laser-induced chemical vapor deposition and Raman spectroscopic analysis)

  • Characteristics of micro carbon structures fabricated with laser-induced chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) are investigated. An argon ion laser (λ=514.5nm) and ethylene gas were utilized as the energy source and precursor, respectively. The laser beam was focused onto a graphite substrate to produce carbon deposit through thermal decomposition of the precursor. Average growth rate of a carbon rod increased for increasing laser power and pressure. Micro carbon rods with good surface quality were obtained at near the threshold condition. Micro carbon rods with aspect ratio of about 100 and micro tubular structures were fabricated to demonstrate the possible application of this method to the fabrication of three-dimensional microstructures. Laser Raman spectroscopic analysis of the micro carbon structures revealed that the carbon rods are consisting of amorphous carbon.

Hysteresis modeling for cyclic behavior of concrete-steel composite joints using modified CSO

  • Concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) column joints with composite beams have been widely used as lateral loading resisting elements in civil infrastructure. To better utilize these innovative joints for the application of structural seismic design and analysis, it is of great importance to investigate the dynamic behavior of the joint under cyclic loading. With this aim in mind, a novel phenomenal model has been put forward in this paper, in which a Bouc-Wen hysteresis component is employed to portray the strength and stiffness deterioration phenomenon caused by increment of loading cycle. Then, a modified chicken swarm optimization algorithm was used to estimate the optimal model parameters via solving a global minimum optimization problem. Finally, the experimental data tested from five specimens subjected to cyclic loadings were used to validate the performance of the proposed model. The results effectively demonstrate that the proposed model is an easy and more realistic tool that can be used for the pre-design of CFST column joints with reduced beam section (RBS) composite beams.

Bending-shear Strength of Concrete-filled Double Skin Circular Steel Tubular Beams with SMA and Rebar in Normal-and-High-strength Concrete

  • A concrete-filled circular steel tube beam was fabricated, and a bending test was performed to analyze its failure modes, displacement ductility, bending-shear strength, and load-central deflection relationship. For the bending test, the installation position of the shape memory alloy (SMA) inside and outside the double-skin steel tube was used, and the rebar installation position, the concrete strength, the mixing of fibers, and the inner-outer diameter ratio as the main parameters. The test results showed that the installation positions of the reinforcements inside and outside the double-skin steel tube and the inner-outer diameter ratio of the steel tube affected the ductility, maximum load, and failure mode. In general, the specimen made of general concrete with SMA installed outside and inside (OI) the double-skin steel tube showed the best results.

Analysis of mechanical properties of microtubules under combined effects of surface and body forces for free and embedded microtubules in viscoelastic medium

  • Vibration is expected to occur in microtubules as tubular heterodimers. They oscillate like electric dipoles. Several research studies have estimated a frequency of vibration using the orthotropic model, a beam or rod like models and shell models, considering the surface forces. The effects of body forces on the dynamics of the microtubules were not yet taken into account. This study seeks to capture the body force effects on the vibration modes generated and on the corresponding frequency for microtubules. An orthotropic elastic shell model for the structural details of microtubules is used for the analysis. The tests are conducted out for microtubules, exposed to electro-magnetic and gravitational forces, the transverse vibration, radial mode vibration, and axial mode of vibration have accomplished. We therefore, evaluate and compare microtubules' frequencies with prior results of vibration frequency without the effects of body force.

T형 스티프너를 이용한 콘크리트 충전강관 기둥-보 접합부의 해석에 관한 연구 (Analysis of CFT Beam-to-Column Connections with T-Stiffeners)

  • 본 논문은 T형 스티프너를 이용한 콘크리트 충전각형강관-H형강보 접합부의 응력전달 메카니즘을 유한요소해석을 통해 정확히 이해하고, T스티프너에 관한 설계기본자료를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 선행된 실대형 접합부의 실험결과에서 나타난 문제점을 파악하기 위해 실험체와 동일한 형상의 비선형 유한요소해석을 수행하여 결과를 비교하였다. 접합부의 응력전달 메카니즘을 이해하기 위해 T형 스티프너의 형상을 변수로 하여 주요 부위의 여러 응력 및 변형도 지수를 사용하였다. 해석 모델은 크게 T형스티프너 상세에 따라 3개의 계열로 분류하였다. 유한요소해석을 통한 변수해석의 결과를 이용하여 보플랜지와 수평스티프너 접합부의 응력집중을 감소시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다. 접합부 상세에 따른 여러 지수의 변화를 토대로 하여 T형 스티프너의 설계를 위한 기본자료와 최소 크기를 제시하였다.
