  • We predict the unknown cannon tube erosion rate by using observed values of the standard cannon, 155mm Howitzer Ml85. We know the standard cannon's ten erosion observation values each 400 rounds. An approximate formula fitting the erosion values of the standard cannon has been derived. Numerical simulation applying this formula to the Rauf Imam's erosion equations is presented.

  • The erosion rate of water wall tube has been measured and discussed in a commercial circulating fluidized bed combustor (200 ton steam/hr, $4.97{\times}9.90{\times}28.98m\;height$). Tube thickness was measured with ultrasonic method. Severe tube erosion rate was observed in the splash region on all waterwalls including wingwalls. The tube erosion rate increased after an initial decrease as height from the distributor increased. The difference of erosion rate among wing walls was found due to unbalanced distribution of gas and solid flow rates. The erosion rate of the wing wall increased as location of the wing wall became closer to the center of combustor crosssection.

  • We predict the erosion rate of unknown cannon tubes by substituting measured values of the standard cannon, 155㎜ Howitzer M185 and ballistic data for the erosion equation. We know ten measured erosion values of the standard cannon at every 400 rounds. An approximate formula is derived to interpolate six values up to 2,000 rounds. Numerical example is presented and its results are analyzed. The new erosion equation is also suggested. This equation produces more accurate cannon tube erosion rate than the Rauf Imam's empirical approaches. Computer simulations are presented.

  • The tube thickness map of water wall has been measured in a commercial circulating fluidized bed combustor (200 ton steam/hr, $4.97{\times}9.90{\times}28.98m$ height) with ultrasonic method and tube erosion has been discussed. Severe tube erosion took place in the splash region on all waterwalls including wingwalls. Erosion on the lower part of front and rear walls, close to both side walls, was more serious than other places. Erosion of some tubes around the gas exit was found to be noticible. Tube erosion increased on the wingwall as the position of the tube become closer to the center of the combustor crosssection.

  • Tube erosion can be defined as a phenomenon for an increment of bore diameter, a declination of accuracy and utility of tube by firing. This study introduces the characteristics of tube life for the 155 mm K9 SHP Using a tube history book with bore measurement data and firing data of standard charge, this study analyzed the EFC vs Tube life and EFC with heat transfer effect formula as a consideration of continuous firing vs tube life. The results were compared with Firing Table(FT 155-K9-1) after the analysis. Also, this study suggests that CN98 tube can be rifled as 1000 EFC through the severe condition with continuous firing.

  • The use of gas absorption refrigeration machine has considerably increased because of the shortage of the electric power in the summer and the regulation of freon refrigerant. Gas absorption refrigeration machine consists of a condenser, a heat exchanger. supplying pipes, a radiator etc, This system is likely to be corroded by acid. dissolved oxygen and gases, Cavitation erosion-corrosion by flow velocity of cooling water may happen in absorption refrigeration machine. In these cases. erosion and corrosion occur simultaneously. Then, it makes a serious damage with synergy effect. Therefore, this paper was studied on the cavitation damage of cupronickel(70/30) tube for gas absorption refrigeration machine, In the $30^{\circ}C$ tap water, linear polarization test and anodic polarization test were carried out for copper(C1220T-OL) and cupronickel(70/30) tube. Also, cavitation erosion-corrosion behavior of cupronickel (70/30) tube was considered, The main results are as following: (1) In the linear test, the corrosion current density of cupronickel(70/30) is higher than that of copper. (2) The erosion-corrosion rate of cupronickel(70/30) displayed later tendency than that of copper by vibratory cavitation in cooling water. (3) In cooling water, the progress mechanism of erosion-corrosion rate of copper and cupronickel(70/30) follows a pattern of incubation, acceleration, attenuation and a steady state period.

  • In the case that erosion and corrosion occurs in machinery and structure at the same time, the synergy effect by erosion-corrosion affects fatal effect to durability of machinery and structure. Therefore, in machinery and structure which use corrosion liquid, the study of the synergy effect of erosion-corrosion which affects metal material is requested. In this paper. the flow corrosion experiment about the effect of temperature change and liquid velocity change in sea water was carried out to study the characteristics of erosion-corrosion for tube material Cu heat exchanger The main results obtained are as follows. (1) Damage appearance of tube outside by erosion-corrosion becomes dull because electrode potentials of Cu tube is higher than electrode potential of STPG38 shell. (2) In the cooling system by sea water, the weight loss rate of Cu at tube outside liquid temperature of $70^{\circ}C$ is higher than that of temperature of $20^{\circ}C$. (3) In cooling system by sea water, the weight loss rate of Cu at liquid velocity of 5.1m/s is higher than that of velocity of 1.47m/s. But as the testing time passed, the weight loss rate of Cu at velocity of 5.1m/s is almost steady and becomes dull at velocity of 1.47m/s.

  • Fly ash erosion is a leading cause of boiler tube failure in PC boilers. Therefore, shields or baffle plates are installed in specific areas to mitigate fly ash erosion and prevent boiler tube failure. However, the tube failure problems caused by fly ash erosion cannot be eliminated with this solution alone, because each PC boiler has a different flue-gas flow pattern and erosion can become severe in unexpected zones. This problem is caused by an asymmetric internal flow velocity and local growth of the flue gas velocity. For these reasons, clearly defining the flow pattern in PC boilers is important for solving the problem of tube failure caused by fly ash erosion. For this purpose, the cold air velocity technique (CAVT) can be applied to the fly ash erosion problem. In this study, CAVT was carried out on the Hadong #2 PC boiler and the feasibility of application of CAVT to conventional PC boilers was validated.

  • The ship performs heat exchange using seawater to keep main engine and auxiliary machinery at optimum temperature. In heat exchanger, refrigerant located outside of copper tube is cooled by seawater flowing through inside of copper tube. On the other hand, seawater erosion and corrosion nay occasionally cause the corrosion of the copper tube in A/C(Air Conditioner) condenser. This corrosion of copper tube makes seawater and refrigerant mixed, seriously damaging A/C system. In this study, accordingly, the exact ive mechanism of the corrosion on the condenser entailing serious problems occasional is investigated through the electrochemical polarization experiments on the condenser's component materials. According to the experiments, the corrosive procedures on the copper tube was verified by the fact that passive film of the copper tube surface which is destroyed by the pressure of sucked seawater, is damaged by the corrosive ingredients in the seawater.
