STL에 위상정보를 부여하기 위한 삼각형 기반 형상모델링 (Creation of Topological Information from STL Using Triangle Based Geometric Modeling)

  • Usually triangular patches are used to transfer geometric shape in Rapid Prototyping CAM system. STL, a list of triangles, is de facto standard in RP industry. Because STL does not have topological infoma- tion, it can cause errornous results. So STL should be verified before using. After adding support structures to anchor the part to the platform and to prevent sagging or distortion, slicing and layer by layer manufactur- ing process are done. But triangular patch is surface model and cannot provide sufficient information on geometry in the above processes. So, geometric modeling is necessary in verifying STL, adding support structures and slicing. It is natural that triangle based modeling is the best when tringular patches are used as input. Considering support structures, solid and faces coexist in RP process. Therefore non-manifold modeler is required. In this study, triangle based non-manifold geometric modeling is proposed for RP sys- tem consistent with STL input.

Experimental Study on Application of an Optical Sensor to Measure Mooring-Line Tension in Waves

  • Moored floating platforms have great potential in ocean engineering applications because a mooring system is necessary to keep the platform in station, which is directly related to the operational efficiency and safety of the platform. This paper briefly introduces the technical and operational details of an optical sensor for measuring the tension of mooring lines of a moored platform in waves. In order to check the performance of optical sensors, an experiment with a moored floating platform in waves is carried out in the wave tank at Changwon National University. The experiment is performed in regular waves and irregular waves with a semi-submersible and triangle platform. The performance of the optical sensor is confirmed by comparing the results of the tension of the mooring lines by the optical sensor and tension gauges. The maximum tension of the mooring lines is estimated to investigate the mooring dynamics due to the effect of the wave direction and wavelength in the regular waves. The significant value of the tension of mooring lines in various wave directions is estimated in the case of irregular waves. The results show that the optical sensor is effective in measuring the tension of the mooring lines.

Development of Pose-Invariant Face Recognition System for Mobile Robot Applications

  • In this paper, we present a new approach to detect and recognize human face in the image from vision camera equipped on the mobile robot platform. Due to the mobility of camera platform, obtained facial image is small and pose-various. For this condition, new algorithm should cope with these constraints and can detect and recognize face in nearly real time. In detection step, ‘coarse to fine’ detection strategy is used. Firstly, region boundary including face is roughly located by dual ellipse templates of facial color and on this region, the locations of three main facial features- two eyes and mouth-are estimated. For this, simplified facial feature maps using characteristic chrominance are made out and candidate pixels are segmented as eye or mouth pixels group. These candidate facial features are verified whether the length and orientation of feature pairs are suitable for face geometry. In recognition step, pseudo-convex hull area of gray face image is defined which area includes feature triangle connecting two eyes and mouth. And random lattice line set are composed and laid on this convex hull area, and then 2D appearance of this area is represented. From these procedures, facial information of detected face is obtained and face DB images are similarly processed for each person class. Based on facial information of these areas, distance measure of match of lattice lines is calculated and face image is recognized using this measure as a classifier. This proposed detection and recognition algorithms overcome the constraints of previous approach [15], make real-time face detection and recognition possible, and guarantee the correct recognition irregardless of some pose variation of face. The usefulness at mobile robot application is demonstrated.

시민을 위한 공학교육 모델 개발에 대한 연구 - 이공계 대학과 과학관의 연계 프로그램을 중심으로 - (A Study on Engineering Education Model for Citizen - Focusing on the Connection Program Between Colleges of Science and Engineering and Science Museums -)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a strategy model for engineering education for citizen through the connection between colleges of science and engineering and science museums as a way to achieve citizen science. For this model, the role of universities was redefined as social contributions through engineering education from the perspective of knowledge triangle and university entrepreneurship. In addition, the science museum was re-examined as an engineering education platform and selected as an institution that supports the contribution of colleges to society. For practical model development, the connection types of these two institutions were analyzed as case studies and interview to collect opinions from experts in the science museum. In this process, convergence education content development, reinforcement of college-science museum linkage, infrastructure construction, development of college resource utilization plans, and maintenance and expansion of educational programs diversification were derived as components for model development. Based on this, engineering education model for citizen was presented that matches educational programs according to the type of participation of colleges including key factors and considerations.

의료법학 20주년 회고와 전망(의료형법 분야) (Retrospect and Prospect of Medical Law 20th Anniversary (Medical Criminal Law))

  • 대한의료법학회는 지난 20년 동안 의료법 관련 학회의 향도로서, 학술활동과 그 축적된 업적, 그리고 학회 회원 구성의 다양성 및 전문성, 학계에 미치는 영향력 면에서 전문학술단체의 역할을 충실히 수행해 왔다. 대한의료법학회의 활동과 학술지 『의료법학』은 의료법학 관련 학술정보 및 의견교류의 플랫폼으로 기능하고 있다. 의료과오로 인한 갈등과 분쟁이 잦아지고 증가하는 상황, 의료에 대한 법제화와 법적 강제가 의료인을 직업수행에 압박으로 다가오는 상황 속에서 『의료법학』은 시작되었다. 의학과 법학의 조우와 융합을 통해서 서로 상생하는 방안을 찾고자 노력했던 것이다. 의료형법은 생명 및 신체보호의 영역에서 발생하는 전통적인 범죄에서 더 나아가 생명의료기술의 발전에 따른 생명윤리위반 행위와 의료영역에서의 부패 및 경제범죄 등으로 넓어지고 있다. 의료법학은 의료, 보건, 생명윤리, 생명과학기술 등에서 제기되는 법적 문제를 다루는 포괄적 법영역으로 발전하였다. 법적인 측면에서 보면 민법, 행정법, 형법, 사회법, 민·형사소송법 등 전통적인 법영역이 독립적이거나 중첩적으로 관련된 영역으로서 독자적인 법영역은 아니다. 그러나 이제는 법학 내에서의 여러 분야뿐만 아니라 의학, 생명윤리, 생명과학 등과의 융합법학으로서 자리하게 되었다. 법학, 의학, 윤리학, 사회학, 경제학 등 협업이 필요한 영역이 되었다. 의료형법은 지난 20년간 역동적인 발전을 거듭했다. 의학과 의료기술발전에 따라 새롭고 혁신적인 진단 및 치료방법을 제공하고 있다. 생명공학·유전공학과 의학의 혁명적 발전이 가져온 성과와 위험은 병존한다. 질병퇴치와 건강개선이라는 인류가 바라던 눈부신 성과가 있는 반면 원치 않은 부수적 효과와 인간에 대한 위험이 야기된다. 윤리적 및 법적 원칙들을 재고해야 할 필요성이 대두된다. 환자의 주체성과 자율성의 발견과 발전은 의사와 환자의 관계를 변화시켰다. 더 나아가 환자·의사·보험이라는 삼각관계로 법적인 문제도 복잡해진 것이다. 법제화의 필요성이 대두되는 이유다. 형사처벌 규정도 필요하다. 의료법 및 (생명)의료관계법령은 충분한 제·개정절차가 진행되기보다는 사회적 이슈와 시민의 요구, 의료인 등 이익단체의 요구가 있을 때마다 행해지는 모자이크식 입법으로 체계성과 정합성이 흠결되어 있다. 재정비가 필요한 부분인데, 이것이야말로 학회의 장점인 학제 간 협업으로 가능한 일이다.
