  • The problem of trend change in the failure rate is great interest in the reliability and survival analysis. In this paper we develop a test statistic for testing whether or not the failure rate changes its trend based on a complete sample. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to investigate the speed of convergence of the proposed test statistic.

  • The power law process model the Rate of occurrence of failures(ROCOF) with monotonic trend during the operating time. However, the power law process is inappropriate when a non-monotonic trend in the failure data is observed. In this paper we deals with the reliability modeling of the failure process of large and complex repairable system whose rate of occurrence of failures shows the non-monotonic trend. We suggest a sectional model and a change-point test based on the Schwarz information criterion(SIC) to describe the non-monotonic trend. Maximum likelihood is also suggested to estimate parameters of sectional model. The suggested methods are applied to field data from an repairable system.

  • 연속 형질(quantitative trait)에 영향을 미치는 유전자를 알아내기 위해 형제 쌍의 자료를 수집하여, 주로 이용되는 Haseman과 Elston (1972)의 최소제곱 회귀검정법으로 분석하는데 이는 단일 형질에 대한 분석법이다. 현실적으로 여러 형질들이 복잡하게 단일유전자 좌위(single locus)와 연관되어 있어 함께 수집하게 되는 경우에는, 이러한 연관된 여러 형질을 동시에 분석하는 유전연관성 검정법(linkage test)이 절실히 필요한 실정이다. Amos 등 (1990)은 주성분(principal component) 선형모형을 이용하여 Haseman과 Elston (1972)방법을 둘 이상의 형질의 다변량 분석법으로 확장시켰다. 그러나 이 검정방법은 통계량의 분포를 알 수 없기에 아직 제 1종 오류가 제대로 통제되지 못하는 문제를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 다변량 형질 자료의 연관성검정에 있어 단일변량에 대한 비모수 추세검정법을 다변량 자료에 대한 분석법으로 확장시킨 통계량을 사용할 것을 제안한다. Amos 등 (1990)이 제안한 방법과 다변량 추세검정 통계량을 모의실험으로 생성한 연속형 형질자료에 적용하였을 때, 다변량 추세검정 통계량은 Amos 등 (1990) 방법에서의 여러 문제점이 발생되지 않을 뿐만 아니라 모의실험에서 제 1종 오류가 정해진 유의수준에 가까운 것을 확인하였고, 검정적이 더 높음을 볼 수 있었다.

Factors Influencing Genetic Change for Milk Yield within Farms in Central Thailand

  • The objective of this study was to characterize factors influencing genetic improvement of dairy cattle for milk production at farm level. Data were accumulated from 305-day milk yields and pedigree information from 1,921 first-lactation dairy cows that calved from 1990 to 2007 on 161 farms in Central Thailand. Variance components were estimated using average information restricted maximum likelihood procedures. Animal breeding values were predicted by an animal model that contained herd-year-season, calving age, and regression additive genetic group as fixed effects, and cow and residual as random effects. Estimated breeding values from cows that calved in a particular month were used to estimate genetic trends for each individual farm. Within-farm genetic trends (b, regression coefficient of farm milk production per month) were used to classify farms into 3 groups: i) farms with negative genetic trend (b<-0.5 kg/mo), ii) farms with no genetic trend (-0.5 kg/$mo{\leq}b{\leq}0.5$ kg/mo), and iii) farms with positive genetic trend (b>0.5 kg/mo). Questionnaires were used to gather information from individual farmers on educational background, herd characteristics, farm management, decision making practices, and opinion on dairy farming. Farmer's responses to the questionnaire were used to test the association between these factors and farm groups using Fisher's exact test. Estimated genetic trend for the complete population was $0.29{\pm}1.02$ kg/year for cows. At farm level, most farms (40%) had positive genetic trend ($0.63{\pm}4.67$ to $230.79{\pm}166.63$ kg/mo) followed by farms with negative genetic trend (35%; $-173.68{\pm}39.63$ to $-0.62{\pm}2.57$ kg/mo) and those with no genetic trend (25%; $-0.52{\pm}3.52$ to $0.55{\pm}2.68$ kg/mo). Except for educational background (p<0.05), all other factors were not significantly associated with farm group.

경향성 분석을 통한 가뭄취약성 지수의 개발 (Development of Drought Vulnerability Index Using Trend Analysis)

  • 본 연구에서는 가뭄 취약성 지표를 선정하고, 경향성 검정에 따른 지수 산정을 실시하였다. 4대강 살리기의 일환으로 새로이 설치될 보 중 금강 및 낙동강 유역 10개 지점을 선정하였다. 지표는 수자원, 강우, 인문 분야 등 3개 분야 10개 지표를 선정하였다. 10개 지표는 연 최저 및 평균 하천수위와 지하수위, 무강우일수, 강우집중률, 강우편차율, 1인당 가용수자원량, 물재정 건전성, 물이용 공평성으로 이루어져 있다. 10개 지표의 시계열 자료를 정리하여 Mann-Kendall, Hotelling-Pabst, 그리고 Sen trend test를 실시하여 지수를 산정하였다. 연구 결과 구미보, 상주보, 합천보 등 낙동강 유역에 위치한 연구 지점들이 대체적으로 취약한 것을 알 수 있었고, 금강유역은 낙동강에 비해 비교적 취약성이 낮은 것을 알 수 있었다.

낙동강 수계의 수질오염총량 자료를 이용한 비모수적 수질추세 분석 (A Nonparametric Trend Tests Using TMDL Data in the Nakdong River)

  • We were interested in the long-term temporal and spatial variability trends of water quality. Trend tests such as the Seasonal and Regional Kendall tests and LOWESS (LOcally WEighted Scatter plot Smoother) have been recommended as outstanding tools for trend detection. In this study, we conducted four types of nonparametric trend tests (Seasonal and Regional Kendall tests, LOWESS, and flow-adjusted Seasonal Kendall). We aimed to identify water quality trends using the monthly data for five variables (BOD, COD, TN, TP, and flow) collected from 24 sites in the Nakdong River from August 2004 to December 2013. According to the Regional Kendall test, BOD, COD, and TN increased but TP decreased trend. The Seasonal Kendall test showed that BOD, TN, and TP remained constant at 62.5-83.3% of the sites. COD remained constant at 58.3% of the sites. LOWESS showed that TP gradually increased between 2007 and 2008, then decreased slowly at the Gumi, Geumhogang6, Daeam-1 and Milyanggang3 sites. BOD increased slightly between 2008 and 2009, and then decreased slowly at the Namgang4-1 site. Lastly, a flow-adjusted Seasonal Kendall test was conducted. There were different results between Seasonal Kendall and flow-adjusted Seasonal Kendall tests at 11 of the 24 sites. According to the results from six of the eleven sites, BOD increased at one site, showed no trends at three sited, and decreased at two sites. Each of COD, TN increased at two, one site. but TP decreased at two sites.

Assessing the variability of climate indices and the role of climate variables in Chungcheong provinces of South Korea

  • The frequency of natural disasters, including floods and drought events, driven by climate change has increased in recent times. Investigating the climate regimes and the roles of climate variables are indispensable to forestall future climate change-related disasters. This study compares the variability of two popular and widely used climate indices i.e., the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) aridity index and the Modified De-Martonne (MDM) index to assess the trend of climate change in the Chungcheong provinces of South Korea. The trend of annual and monthly climate indices was conducted using a non-parametric Mann-Kendall test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test with daily climate data of 48 years (1978-2020) from 10 synoptic stations. The findings indicate that UNEP and MDM indices had a wet climate regime for the annual trend, with the UNEP index indicating a relatively humid trend of 60% humid, 20% semi-arid, and 10% sub-humid for the 48-years study period. However, the MDM index showed a high frequency of a severe wet climatic condition followed by the semi-arid condition. The months of July and August had the highest occurring frequency of the wet climatic condition (90%) for both UNEP and MDM indices. Comparing the two provinces, Chungnam showed a relatively wetter climatic condition using the UNEP index, while the MDM index indicated no significant regional difference in climate regime between the two provinces. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test showed that all the 10 stations are normally distributed for monthly climate conditions at a 5% significant level in the two provinces except five stations for UNEP index and four stations for MDM index in the month of January.

From the manufacturing process to the monitoring of the underground power line, various new techniques are being developed for reliability and high quality such as in-line monitoring system, triple common extrusion, PD measurement system, new type completion test, etc.

수질지수를 이용한 낙동강 주요 지류지천의 장기 경향성 분석 (Long-term Trend Analysis of Major Tributaries of Nakdong River Using Water Quality Index)

  • 본 연구에서는 낙동강 주요 지류지천의 수질 모니터링 자료를 이용하여 수질지수를 산정하고 우선 관리가 필요한 지류지천을 파악하기 위해 장기 경향성 분석을 수행하였다. 환경부에서 시행하고 있는 실시간수질지수 방법을 적용하여 수질지수를 산정하고 모수 통계기법인 선형회귀와 비모수 통계기법인 Mann-Kendall Test와 Sen Slope Test를 적용하여 경향성을 분석하였다. 미전천2, 서교천2 지점을 제외한 주요 지류지천의 수질지수는 Fair 등급 이하의 범위에 있으며 북안천, 천내천, 호계천, 용덕천을 제외한 나머지 지점에 대해서는 유의성을 가진 경향이 나타나지 않았다. 따라서 본류에 대한 수질개선을 위해서는 지류에 대한 관리가 선행되어야 할 것으로 검토되었다.
