적지적수(適地適樹) 판정(判定)을 위한 Neural Network 기법(技法)의 응용(應用) (Neural Network Applications to Determining Suitable Tree Species for Site-Specific Conditions)

  • 이 연구는 인공신경망기법을 적용하여 적지적수를 판정할 수 있는 산림환경입지인자를 도출하고, 그들 인자 상호간의 관계를 분석하여 적지적수 판정방법을 제시하고자 수행되었다. 적지적수 선정을 위한 대상수종으로 5개의 주요 침엽수종(P. densiflora for. erecta, L. leptolepis, P. koraiensis, P. densiflora, P. thunbergil)을 선정하였다. 먼저 총 1,320개소의 표준지를 대상으로 각 수종별 지위지수가 높은 순으로 40개씩 추출하여 총 200개의 표준지를 선발하였다. 각각의 자료는 해당 표준지에 대한 13개 인자의 산림입지환경 정보를 보유하고 있다. 연구결과 인공신경망기법은 패턴분류에 의한 산림입지환경 조사 자료들의 전산정보처리에 매우 효과적인 것을 알 수 있었다. 이 기법을 적지적수 판정에 필요한 패턴의 유무 분석에 응용함으로써 적지적수 판정에 거의 영향을 미칠 수 없는 패턴을 소유하고 있거나, 불규칙한 양상의 패턴으로 인해 패턴분류 과정 자체를 교란할 수 있는 자료들을 선별하여 제거할 수 있었다. 그 외에 인공신경망기법은 입지인자 구성에 따라 적지적수 판정 적합도가 77.6%에서 91.8%까지 높게 나타남으로써 산림입지환경조사 자료를 토대로 하는 적지적수 판정에 매우 높은 잠재력을 보여주었다.

항공 Lidar 데이터를 이용한 산림지역의 개체목 자동 인식 및 수고 추출 (Automatic Extraction of Individual Tree Height in Mountainous Forest Using Airborne Lidar Data)

  • 항공 Lidar 기술을 이용한 산림조사 기법은 현지조사 및 항공사진을 이용한 기존 조사방법의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 대안으로 떠오르고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내 산림지형의 특성을 고려하여 개체목 인식 및 수고(樹高)추출을 위한 항공 Lidar자료의 기본적인 처리기법을 제시하고자 한다. 경기도 유명산 조림지를 대상으로 촬영된 항공 Lidar 원시자료로부터 비지면점을 제거하는 기법을 적용하여 순수 지표면을 표현하는 수치표고모형자료(DEM)를 생성하였다. 이렇게 제작된 DEM자료를 기반으로 비지면점에 해당하는 신호값들을 추출한 후 수관고모형(CHM)자료를 생성하였다. CHM자료에 개체목의 수고를 추출하는 필터링 기법을 개발하였다. 연구 지역의 낙엽송 및 잣나무 표본임분을 대상으로 항공사진 및 현지 측정된 자료와 비교한 결과, 개체목의 본수는 90% 이상의 정확도로 추출되었으며, 수고는 평균 1.1m 낮게 추정되었다.

식물의 온도 완화효과에 관한 기초적 연구 (A Quantitative Study on the Effect of Temperature Control by a Shade Tree and the Lawn Area)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of temperature control by a shade tree and the lawn area. In this investigation, we find out that artificial-lawn, concerte, and exposed soil are more higher temperature than covered with plant materials. The results of the measurement may to summerized as follows; 1) Low-temperature effects of zoysia japonica is more controlled by condition of growth than leaf length of grass. Surface temperature make 0.7$^{\circ}C$ difference between long grass (15cm), and short grass (5cm), but make 5$^{\circ}C$ difference between good growth grass (230/10$\textrm{cm}^2$) and bad growth grass (80/10$\textrm{cm}^2$). 2) The surface temperature of the lawn area is 40.5$^{\circ}C$ lower on a maxinum than that of the artificial lawn (July 28, 1985). During the day of summer, shade area under the shade tree is 0.9$^{\circ}C$ lower then lawn area surface temperature, 6.9$^{\circ}C$ lower than bad growth lawn, 10.3$^{\circ}C$ lower than exposed soil, and 18$^{\circ}C$ lower than concrete surface temperature. 3) Natural irrigation effect on the surface temperature fluctuation. But this effect is changed by compositions of ground materials and time-lapse. 4) Sunny day is more effective than cloud day. 5) In summer season, surface temperature make a difference compare to temperature of 0.5-1.5m height from ground : Surface temperature is 3.4$^{\circ}C$ lower at the lawn area (11 a.m.), 4.2$^{\circ}C$ lower at the shade area the shade tree, 12.7$^{\circ}C$ higher at the concrete area (3p.m.), 38.8$^{\circ}C$ higher at the artificial lawn (2p.m.) 6) According to compositions of ground materials and season have specific vertical temperature distribution curve. 7) In summer season, temperature distribution of 0.5-1.5m hight at the shade tree is 4.8-5.7$^{\circ}C$ lower than concrete area (noon-3p.m.)

인천 십정동 유적 내 출토 목관의 연륜연대 및 재질분석 (Analysis and Tree-Ring Dating of Wooden Coffins Excavated from Incheon Sipjeong-Dong Site)

  • 본 연구에서는 인천 십정동 유적에서 출토된 목관(1호 회곽묘)에 대해 연륜연대와 사용된 재료를 확인하고자 진행하였다. 목관부재 10점에 대한 수종은 모두 소나무류로 확인되었다. 정확한 연륜측정을 위해 사포를 이용하여 횡단면을 연마하였다. 연륜폭은 이용하여 0.01 mm 정확도로 측정하였다. 5점의 부재들은 서로 간에 일치하였기 때문에 83년간의 대표연륜연대기가 작성되었다. 작성된 대표연륜연대기는 표준연륜연대기들과 비교를 통해 목관의 최외각 연륜은 1575년으로 확인되었고, 16세기 후반에 목관이 제작된 것으로 판단하였다. 또한 목관 표면에 부착된 섬유에 대해 현미경관찰 및 FT-IR분석을 통해 견섬유가 사용된 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 목관 표면에 칠해져 있던 칠은 FT-IR, Py-GC/MS 분석으로 옻칠임을 확인할 수 있었다.

자유류 난류와 표면 트립 와이어가 구 주위 유동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Free-Stream Turbulence and Surface Trip Wire on the Flow past a Sphere)

  • In the present study, effects of tree-stream turbulence and surface trip wire on the flow past a sphere at $Re\;=\;0.4\;{\times}\;10^5\;{\sim}\;2.8\;{\times}\;10^5$ are investigated through wind tunnel experiments. Various types of grids are installed upstream of the sphere in order to change the tree-stream turbulence intensity. In the case of surface trip wire, 0.5mm and 2mm trip wires are attached from $20^{\circ}\;{\sim}\;90^{\circ}$ at $10^{\circ}$ interval along the streamwise direction. To investigate the flow around a sphere, drag measurement using a load cell, surface-pressure measurement, surface visualization using oil-flow pattern and near-wall velocity measurement using an I-type hot-wire probe are conducted. In the variation of free-stream turbulence, the critical Reynolds number decreases and drag crisis occurs earlier with increasing turbulence intensity. With increasing Reynolds number, the laminar separation point moves downstream, but the reattachment point after laminar separation and the main separation point are fixed, resulting in constant drag coefficient at each free-stream turbulence intensity. At the supercritical regime, as Reynolds number is further increased, the separation bubble is regressed but the reattachment and the main separation points are fixed. In the case of surface trip wire directly disturbing the boundary layer flow, the critical Reynolds number decreases further with trip wire located more downstream. However, the drag coefficient after drag crisis remains constant irrespective of the trip location.

Accuracy Test of Coring for Measuring Annual Increment in Quercus mongolica, Kalopanax septemlobus, and Pinus densiflora

  • Coring has been widely used to measure annual increment in temperate forest ecosystems. This method is attractive because cores can be taken in just one visit. However, the accuracy of this method has not been tested. We expected coring to be less accurate than band dendrometers because of the eccentricity of tree growth. We studied 41 trees at the Long Term Experimental Forest in Mt. Gyebang, which has been monitored with band dendrometers since 1996. We collected two tree cores from the south and north face of each tree, 10 cm below the growth band. Increment cores were measured to 0.01 mm under stereomicroscopy. Annual growth from 1997 to 2006 was 3.2 mm $yr^{-1}$ for Quercus mongolica, 3.5 mm $yr^{-1}$ for Kalopanax septemlobus, and 5.7 mm $yr^{-1}$ for Pinus densiflora. The difference between the two methods was 10% for Q. mongolica, 14% for K. septemlobus, and 4% for P. densiflora. Compaction in the corer and shrinkage during drying decreased diameter increment by 5.6% and 1.0% on P. densiflora, respectively. This study suggests that the two methods for annual increment measurement are very similar, but species specificity should be concerned for direct comparison.

버드나무(Salix Koreensis Andersson) 가지 추출물의 항산화 및 항염증 효과 (Antioxidant Activity and Anti-inflammatory Effects of Salix Koreensis Andersson Branches Extracts)

  • This study aims to compare and analyze a willow tree (Salix Koreensis andersson) extract's antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity by investigating its: total polyphenol, flavonoid content, SOD-like activity, DPPH vitality. the willow tree was induced with LPS to determine its active anti-inflammatory effects. as a result, the willow methanol extract showed a higher total polyphenol and flavonoid content than those of willow distilled water extract, but the willow distilled water extract showed a higher SOD than that of willow methanol extract. in its DPPH scavenging ability, the willow methanol extract's antioxidant activity was higher than that of the willow distilled water extract. the willow extract's measurements such as the production of NO, inflammatory cytokine ($TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-6 measurement) were significantly reduced as its concentration level went down. according to the research outcomes, when induced, he will extract's macrophage produces mediator-like substances such as NO and inflammatory cytokine that can be used to alleviate the inflammatory response. therefore, the willow tree proved to be a useful raw plant material for the products designed to combat inflammatory activities due to its natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory response substances such as NO and cytokine.

Sound Absorption Property of the Leaves of Two Evergreen Broad-Leaved Tree Species, Dendropanax morbiferus and Fatsia japonica

  • In this study, the effect of specimen size and layer thickness on the sound absorption of the leaves of two evergreen broad-leaved tree species, Dendropanax morbiferus and Fatsia japonica, was investigated. The specimen sizes of 0.5 × 0.5, 1.0 × 1.0, and 2.0 × 2.0 ㎠ and layer thicknesses of 1.00, 1.75, and 2.50 cm were considered. At the layer thickness of 2.5 cm, the leaf of the D. morbiferus showed no significant difference in sound absorption coefficients (SACs) as the sample size varied, however, a significant change in SACs was recorded in that of the F. japonica. At 1.0-cm thickness, the SACs of the F. japonica leaf varied more remarkably with the sample size. The 2.50-cm-thick F. japonica leaf with the specimen size 0.5 × 0.5 ㎠ exhibited the highest sound absorption effect among all samples investigated.

Accuracy Measurement of Image Processing-Based Artificial Intelligence Models

  • When a typhoon or natural disaster occurs, a significant number of orchard fruits fall. This has a great impact on the income of farmers. In this paper, we introduce an AI-based method to enhance low-quality raw images. Specifically, we focus on apple images, which are being used as AI training data. In this paper, we utilize both a basic program and an artificial intelligence model to conduct a general image process that determines the number of apples in an apple tree image. Our objective is to evaluate high and low performance based on the close proximity of the result to the actual number. The artificial intelligence models utilized in this study include the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), VGG16, and RandomForest models, as well as a model utilizing traditional image processing techniques. The study found that 49 red apple fruits out of a total of 87 were identified in the apple tree image, resulting in a 62% hit rate after the general image process. The VGG16 model identified 61, corresponding to 88%, while the RandomForest model identified 32, corresponding to 83%. The CNN model identified 54, resulting in a 95% confirmation rate. Therefore, we aim to select an artificial intelligence model with outstanding performance and use a real-time object separation method employing artificial function and image processing techniques to identify orchard fruits. This application can notably enhance the income and convenience of orchard farmers.

The Effects of CO2 Enrichment on the Radial Growth of Pinus densiflora

  • The current study aimed to investigate the impact of CO2 enrichment on the width of annual tree rings, earlywood and latewood, and the area of annual growth of Pinus densiflora Siebold & Zucc. grown in open-top chamber (OTC). To this end, two CO2 enrichment cases were considered, namely 1.4 × increment (560 ppm in OTC-II) and 1.8 × (720 ppm in OTC-III) were compared with the current atmosphere (400 ppm in OTC-I). The CO2 enrichment conditions for a period of 12 years (2010-2021) were considered, and all measurements were done through image analysis. The study showed that the increment in CO2 concentrations positively affected the tree growth. The measurement data from the trees in OTC-III were considerably higher than those from OTC-I, whereas those from OTC-II were slightly higher than those from OTC-I. Decreasing patterns of the measured widths and area in 6-7 years after the beginning of CO2 enrichment was found for all the OTCs. These patterns were possibly due to changes in the physiological features, such as aging. The findings of the present study can have potential uses as fundamental data for forest management considering CO2 concentrations.
