Traveler Guidance System based on 3D Street Modeling

  • This paper presents a traveler guidance system that offers 3D street information such as road types, signal light systems, street trees, buildings, etc. We consider 5x4 road system of Gangnam(in Seoul, Korea) as a test area and reflect the traveler's car-driving situation. A web server is constructed to serve traveler's driving path by switching 3D animation scenes automatically. To do batch processing of geometric data for the 3D graphical streets construction, we have extracted major street information from present GIS database and created new GIS file formats (SMF files), which contain data sessions for links, nodes, and facilities. With these files, we can render 3D navigation scenes. A number of vector calculations were performed for the geometrical consistence and texture-mapping method was used for the realistic scene generation. Finally, we have verified the effectiveness of the service by operating a test scenario. We have checked whether traveler's 2D path and 3D navigation are exactly reported after setting specific departure and destination. This system offers us well awareness of streets and takes useful role of traveler guidance.

  • In this thesis I aim at investigating at the distinctive characteristic of homesickness in written by Hong sun-hag and the mean of the distinctive characteristic. The result as follow. The aspect of homesickness in the Yeonhaengnok : The first, the traveler express the reason that cause the homesickness. The reason that cause the homesickness is various. The second, the traveler express the emotional conflict between worry about the family and ambition of travel in Yeonhaengsanmun. The third, the traveler express the reason that cause the homesickness and yearn for his home. The traveler express the individual experience connected with the family in Yeonhaengsanmun, the universal experience connected with the family in Yeonhaenghansi. The distinctive characteristic of homesickness in the and the mean of the distinctive characteristic : The first, the aspect of homesickness in the is all aspect of homesickness. The author of synthesizes homesickness. The second, the scenery rouse the traveler' homesickness and the traveler expresses homesickness by the empathy to the scenery. The mean of expressing by the scenery is that the expression succeed the 17th century Yeonhaenggasa. The third, the traveler concretely expresses his inner world. The mean of concretely expressing the inner world is that the expression is related to the realism of expressing the inner world.

  • Recently Following changes in the airport industry, this study aims to investigate the relationship between physical servicescape elements, a travelers' enjoyment and/or anxiety, and traveler satisfaction in the airport environment context. Six airport service scape factorsd design, scent, functional organization, air/lighting conditions, seating, and cleanlinessd should be considered when evaluating traveler response. airport design features and pleasant scent have a positive influence on traveler enjoyment, generating satisfaction. This study also provides valuable implications for airport design, organization and development. By combining previous research on servicescapes and airport design, this study confirms the significance of servicescape attributes in transit service settings in Inchon international airport. The results of this study may help airport industry practitioners understand the airport environment from a passenger's perspective.

A Study on the Optimal Cut-off Level of Simple Tax Rate in Korea : Cases of traveler's customs clearance (한국 간이세율의 적정 인하수준 추정에 관한 연구: 여행자 휴대품 통관을 중심으로)

  • Tariff reduction from FTAs are applied to imported goods, but not to traveler's goods. There are difficulties in meeting the FTA's conditions for free tariff application, such as origin of goods and direct transportation. This study suggests the optimal cut-off level of a simple tax rate applied to traveler's goods with respect to traveler' welfare and government tax revenue. Among three different scenarios of simple tax reductions by ordering its weighted magnitude of effects, the optimal tariff was found to be 2% applied to all goods. The effects of a 2% reduction of simple tax rate would increase traveler' welfare by 16.8 billion won and reduce tax revenue by only 0.34 billion won.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze critical needs and demands for the multifunctional traveler's jacket and to develop design prototypes based on the findings from the analysis. A self-report questionnaire with the stimuli was applied. Total 163 travelers were purposively sampled for the survey and the data were analyzed quantitatively as well as qualitatively. The results were as follows: 1. The respondents were divided into three groups - "digital-functionality-needs group", "non-digitalfunctionality-needs group", "no-need group", according to their preference and needs for the multifunctional traveler's jacket. 2. The three groups were analyzed (1) to have meaningful differences in experiencing inconvenience in their traveling, (2) to have statistically significant differences in their needs for the multifunctional traveler's jacket, (3) while some imperative consensus in their needs were found in part. 3. Based on the findings of the analysis mentioned above, three design prototypes were developed and visualized with conclusion.

  • This paper first reviews current practices of traveler information providing and provides some perspectives regarding the possible near term milestones in traveler information providing. Then, reviews of four types of prediction models: 1) dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) model; 2) statistical model; 3) simulation model; and 4) heuristic model are described in the sense that various prediction models are needed to support providing predictive traveler information in the near future. Next, the functional requirements and capabilities of the four types of prediction models are discussed and summarized along with some advantages and disadvantages of these models with reference to short-term travel time prediction. Furthermore, a comprehensive prediction procedure, which combines the four types of prediction models, is presented, together with the data requirements for each type of prediction model.

A Case of Furuncular Myiasis Due to Cordylobia anthropophaga in a Korean Traveler Returning from Uganda

  • A fly larva was recovered from a boil-like lesion on the left leg of a 33-year-old male on 21 November 2016. He has worked in an endemic area of myiasis, Uganda, for 8 months and returned to Korea on 11 November 2016. The larva was identified as Cordylobia anthropophaga by morphological features, including the body shape, size, anterior end, posterior spiracles, and pattern of spines on the body. Subsequent 28S rRNA gene sequencing showed 99.9% similarity (916/917 bp) with the partial 28S rRNA gene of C. anthropophaga. This is the first imported case of furuncular myiasis caused by C. anthropophaga in a Korean overseas traveler.

  • Cyclospora cayetanensis is an apicomplexan protozoan and is one of the most common pathogens causing chronic diarrhea worldwide. Eight stool samples with diarrheal symptom out of 18 Korean residents who traveled to Nepal were obtained, and examined for 25 enteropathogens including 16 bacterial species, 5 viral species, and 4 protozoans in stool samples as causative agents of water-borne and food-borne disease. Only C. cayetanensis was detected by nested PCR, and 3 PCR-positive samples were sequenced to confirm species identification. However, the oocysts of C. cayetanensis in fecal samples could not be detected by direct microscopy of the stained sample. As far as we know, this is the first report of a group infection with C. cayetanensis from a traveler visiting Nepal, and the second report of a traveler's diarrhea by C. cayetanensis imported in Korea.

  • This paper used the golf course visitors' data in Jeju region to forecast the growth of inbound air traveler to Jeju. This is because the golf course visitors were proven to bring the highest economic and production inducement effect to the Jeju region. Based on such a data, this paper forecast the short-term growth rate of inbound air traveler using ARIMA to the Jeju until December 2025. According to ARIMA (0,1,0) (0,1,1) model, it was analyzed that the monthly number of golf course visitors to Jeju has been increasing steadily even since COVID-19 pandemic and the number is expected to grow until the end of 2025. Applying the same parameters of ARIMA (0,1,0) (0,1,1) to inbound air travel data, it was found the growth rate of inbound air travelers would be higher than the growth rate of 2019 shortly without moderate variation even though the monthly number of inbound travelers to Jeju had been dropped during COVID-19 pandemic.

Analysis and Estimation of Factors Affecting Travel Time Budget (통행시간예산의 요인분석 및 추정)

  • The traveler's travel pattern has significantly changed due to the social and economic changes. The travel time among the traveler's pattern is the limited resource. The travelers are trying to maximize the utility of travel with the least travel cost. So, the travelers travel with their own travel time budget in mind, which they can pay or choose to pay for the optimal maximization of the utility of the individuals. This research is to group and extract the specific factors which affect the travel time budget by utilizing the CART analysis method, which enables the analysis of traveler's characteristics and their interrelationship based on the data collected from "2002 Household Travel Practice Research" and then try to derive a model for estimating the traveler’s travel time budget. The result of CART analysis shows that the factors which affect the travel time budget include the traveler's age, size of house, type of house, type of employment, job and relation to the head of household. Considering the affecting factors derived, I developed an estimation model. From that model, we found that the age, size of house and type of house were positively (+) related to the travel time budget while the homeworking people who have less travel frequency as a type of employment were negatively (-) related to it. In particular, from the point of type of job, the housewives, children not yet old enough to attend schools and people who are working in the agricultural, or marine product industries were found to have the negative (-) value while the people who have the administrative, office, management jobs were found to have the positive (+) value.
