This study examined the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)-related variables of firefighters through a systematic literature review. Electronic databases were searched, including RISS, National Assembly Library, NDSL, KmBase. The search terms were PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Firefighter. Eleven studies from 146 references screened were included. All studies were non-experimental and correlational analyses. The positive correlation factors were age, duration of work, traumatic events, frequency of mobilization, number and strength of traumatic events experienced, work burden, coping method, D-type personality, depression, and anger rumination. The negative correlation factors were resilience, social support, self-esteem. To improve the mental health of firefighters in the future, professional intervention programs should be constructed to improve resilience, social support, and self-esteem, which are protective factors of PTSD.
Purposes: Evaluate the level of mental health of administrative workers in medical institutions during the COVID-19 epidemic, and check the relationship. Methodology: It targeted 183 administrative workers at medical institutions located in Jeollabuk-do. The data survey method used a self-filled questionnaire, and the data collection period was 30 days from November 16, 2021 to December 16, 2021. A comparative analysis was conducted to find out the correlation between the subjects' biological factors, environmental factors, lifestyle factors, job related factors and depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and job stress. Findings: As an influencing factor of depression, it was found that the longer the working period, the higher the depression, and the higher the position, job satisfaction, and the total amount of smoking, the lower the depression. Due to the effect on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the higher the total amount of smoking, the higher the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after effects, and the higher the organizational commitment and job satisfaction, the lower the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder aftereffects. It was found that organizational commitment had the highest influence on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As an influencing factor on job stress, it was found that the higher the job related factors was job satisfaction and organizational commitment, the lower the job stress. Practical Implications: Variables such as moderate physical activity, alcohol consumption, total smoking, working period, position, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment were identified as factors influencing depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and job stress during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This study was to identify major risk factors associated with secondary traumatic stress in a sample of 654 public social welfare specialists. Findings indicated that 69.0% of the subjects experienced secondary traumatic stress, and 36.9% of them were in a high-risk group. Multiple regression analysis showed that the risk of the secondary traumatic stress was associated with gender, work hours, physical violence and threats from clients, coping strategies, and vocational self-efficacy. Based on these results, several interventions for preventing the incidence of secondary traumatic stress among public social welfare specialists are suggested as the follows: construction of secure job environment, development of educational programs for improving vocational self-efficacy and coping skills, and implementation of mental health screening system on a regular basis to prevent the outbreak of mental disease among the workers.
This study examined to test the role of stress coping skills as mediators in the traumatic experiences and drinking anticipation among alcoholics. Subject in this study consisted of 220 alcoholics who aged 18 years and over in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires. The statistical significance was rested by AMOS 18.0. The findings of the study were as follows: First, traumatic experiences - drinking anticipation(${\beta}=.408$, p<.001), traumatic experiences - stress coping skills(${\beta}=-.328$, p<.001) and stress coping skills - drinking anticipation(${\beta}=-.532$, p<.001) of alcoholics did show the direct relationship. Second, stress coping skills worked as mediators between traumatic experiences and drinking anticipation. The implications and limitations of these findings were discussed, and directions for future studies were also proposed.

Purpose: This study attempted to systematically review the programs of patients with post-traumatic stress disorder in South Korea over the past decade, identify specific methods and effects, and present program guidance guidelines through them. Research design, data and methodology: This study is a systematic literature review, and studies registered in the RISS, NDSL, DBpia, and KmBASE search databases from January 1, 2013 to August 31, 2023 were targeted. Keywords were 'post-traumatic stress disorder', 'program' or 'treatment'. A total of 2,324 documents were searched, and 237 duplicate papers were excluded. After that, the title and abstract were viewed, and 2,058 papers that did not meet the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria were excluded. In addition, the full text was checked and the final 11 documents were analyzed excluding 18 documents. Results: Among the 11 literatures, 45.45% of randomized control studies and 54.54% of non-randomized control studies were found. As for gender, 41.18% of women, 28.64% of 30-39 years old, and 34.27% of trauma causes were industrial accidents. Programs for patients with post-traumatic stress disorder were classified into art therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and mindfulness programs, and art therapy was the most used at 45.45%. The sessions of the program were widely applied at 45.45% for 10 sessions and 36.36% for 60 minutes per session. Conclusions: This study has a limitation in that it only analyzed domestic intervention programs within 10 years. However, this study is meaningful in that it is intended to present program guidance guidelines through reviewing domestic programs for post-traumatic stress patients. In the future, it is necessary to conduct research such as expanding the scope of literature review at home and abroad.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of post-traumatic stress on the quality of life and effects of resilience in industrial accident patients. Participants in this study were 158 patients in an industrial hospital and general hospital in two metropolitan urban areas. Data were collected from July 1 to September 30, 2017 using self-report questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, hierarchical regression, and Sobel's test using SPSS 21.0. There were significant negative correlations post-traumatic stress, quality of life, effects of resilience and were significant positive correlations quality of life, effects of resilience. The effects of resilience showed partial mediating effects, but not moderating effects on post-traumatic stress and quality of life. Post-traumatic stress and resilience explained 45% of the effects of industrial accidents on quality of life, post-traumatic stress explained 23% of the effects on quality of life, and the mediating effect of resilience was 22%. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop interventions that improve quality of life by reducing post-traumatic stress and increasing resilience among workers who experience industrial accidents.
Purpose: The study aimed to determine the impact of post-traumatic stress and ways of stress coping on problem drinking in firefighters. Methods: Data were collected from May 11 to June 11, 2015, in fire brigades across South Korea. Participants were 183 male firefighters who used self-report questionnaires containing questions from the Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R), Ways of Coping Checklist (WCC), and Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). Data were analyzed using $x^2$ test, t-test, and logistic regression with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The prevalence of PTSD among firefighters was 36.7% and that of problem drinking was 39.3%. Firefighters with single (OR=0.23, 95% CI=0.038~1.321) and married status (OR=0.46, 95% CI=0.069~3.040) were less likely to have problem drinking than those who were divorced or bereavement. Those with invasion symptoms (OR=1.17, 95% CI=1.031~1.327) and hyperarousal symptoms (OR=0.85, 95% CI=0.722~0.989) were more likely to have problem drinking than those with avoidance symptoms. Conclusion: Post-traumatic stress symptom was a major risk factor that increased problem drinking, and married status reduced problem drinking. There is a need to develop post-traumatic stress symptom management program and early education content for symptom management.
The purpose of this study was conducted to determine the working conditions, post-traumatic stress syndrome and the self-resilience of nurses, and find out the relationship between the post-traumatic stress syndrome and the self-resilience. Data were collected by questionnaire method among 220 General Hospital nurses at Gyeongnam G and J city. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 21.0 program WIN. The results of working conditions of the nurses majority were shift work 70.5%, currently working in the ward 54.6%. Scores were shown as Post-traumatic stress syndrome (28.20) and self resilience (39.98). There is a negative correlation (r =.226, p=.001) between the post-traumatic stress syndrome and the self-resilience. Based on the result, since working conditions of nurses caused psychological stress and nurses with high self-resilience eased the degree of post-traumatic stress, in terms of the personnel management of hospitals, a psychological intervention strategy should be considered.

Background/Aims: Victim advocates are at risk of developing secondary traumatic stress (STS), which can result from witnessing or listening to accounts of traumatic events. This study investigated the relationship between victim status, years of experience, hours of direct contact with victims, and availability of workplace supports in the development of STS. Results: Of the 142 victim advocates, 134 were women. Regression analyses revealed that the only significant predictor of STS was the number of direct hours of victim services provided. Conclusion: The findings from this study found that women have high rates of STS and that more workplace support needs to be implemented.

Objective : The objective of this study is to determine the effects of fear of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) on socio-psychological health during an outbreak of MERS and the post-traumatic stress as a mediator on the relationship between stress and socio-psychological health. Methods : Visual Analog Scale, Impact of Event Scale -Revised, Psychosocial well-being index short form was implemented for 150 medical persons who worked at the hospital in which exposure to MERS cases had been confirmed and 96 ordinary people. A Pearson correlation coefficient and a hierarchical multiple regression was carried out to confirm the effect of fear of MERS and the mediating effect of post-traumatic stress between fear and socio-psychological health. Results : The higher the fear, the lower the socio-psychological health in both healthcare workers and the public (r=0.32, p<0.01) and the higher post-traumatic stress (r=0.32, p<0.01). But, the research results showed that only healthcare workers had a partially mediating effect of post-traumatic stress in the relationship between fear and socio-psychological health (${\beta}=0.45$, t=6.33 p<0.001), (${\beta}$ value : 0.39>0.26). Conclusion : This study demonstrated that the post-traumatic stress can indirectly lead to a negative effect on the socio-psychological health of healthcare workers when under the fear of MERS and shows adverse effects on psycho-social wellbeing. This suggests that clinical intervention and psycho-social approach aiming at reducing post-traumatic stress is important to maintain mental health during crisis development.
