  • This paper presents detailed characteristic of a Reluctance Synchronous Motor(RSM) which has a transverse-laminated rotor. First of all, the analysis of a magnetic circuit field between stator and rotor should be achieved in order to predict the performance characteristic of the RSM. For the analysis of a magnetic circuit field, the Finite Element(FE) analysis and a experimental method are used. The analytical result of the inductance flux distribution, vector potential, and the output shows some good characteristic along with the load condition.

  • Inductance can be defined as several kinds of slops on the B-H curve, and at is classified into apparent, effective, incremental inductances, etc. In many research cases, its calculation and measurement are partially dealt. However it is hard to find the clear explanation of the inductance in the voltage equation of PM machines, and even its relationship with those classified inductances in the view point of design and characteristics analysis. Moreover some previous definition of inductance can not be used for the inductance of coils in PM machines. Therefore, in this paper the inductance is redefined for voltage equation of PM machines, and the methods of calculation by using finite element analysis method and measurement are explained.

  • The design and analysis of electrical machines often require analytical models for performance assessment and system simulation. Inductances are important parameters of these models. In this paper, the methods of calculating apparent and incremental inductances are introduced for a transverse flux linear motor, which has a peculiar coil shape. The computation is accomplished by nonlinear three dimensional finite element method(FEM) and equivalent magnetic circuit network(EMCN). The improved method has been verified by a test result.

  • This paper deals with the design of transverse flux linear actuator based on the proposed design procedure. To satisfy requirement specifications, the initial model is designed by the equivalent magnet circuit and then the detailed design is achieved by Finite Element Method(FEM) using the equivalent reluctance 2D model. The effects of the design parameter on the static characteristics are investigated to increase the thrust.

  • In this paper weld distortion both in butt and fillet welds by flux cored arc welding has been investigated by changing welding parameters such as heat input and plate thickness, and the weld distortion was expressed as a function of welding parameters adopting the inherent strain theory as proposed by Watanabe and Satoh in 1961. As results of the research it is proposed that transverse shrinkage in root pass butt welds in proportional to ln[(Q/t_-tan.theta.] where Q is heat input(cal/mm), t is plate thickness(mm), and 2.theta. is groove angle(degree), and angular distortion .phi.(radian) in one pass of fillet welds has the following relationship: .phi..var.(Q/ $t^{1.5}$)$^{3}$exp[-(Q/ $t^{1.5}$ )$^{2}$3/] These equations provide us with basic tools to predict the amount of weld distortion in welded structures.

  • A higher order zig-zag plate theory is developed to refine accurately predict fully coupled of the mechanical, thermal, and electric behaviors. Both the displacement and temperature fields through the thickness are constructed by superimposing linear zig-zag field to the smooth globally cubic varying field. Smooth parabolic distribution through the thickness is assumed in the transverse deflection in order to consider transverse normal deformation. Linear zig-zag form is adopted in the electric field. The layer-dependent degrees of freedom of displacement and temperature fields are expressed in terms of reference primary degrees of freedom by applying interface continuity conditions as well as bounding surface conditions of transverse shear stresses and transverse heat flux The numerical examples of coupled and uncoupled analysis are demonstrated the accuracy and efficiency of the present theory. The present theory is suitable for the predictions of fully coupled behaviors of thick smart composite plate under mechanical, thermal, and electric loadings.

스크램제트엔진 연료수직분사의 혼합특성 개선에 관한 수치연구 (Mixing Augmentation of Transverse Injection of Fuel in SCRamjet Engine)

  • A method for the mixing augmentation of the transverse injection of fuel in a Scramjet combustor is suggested. Based on the fact that the main factor controlling the mixing characteristics in transverse injection is the effective back-pressure (the pressure around the injection hole) it is tried to make a flow expansion near the injection port in order to reduce effective back-pressure. A three dimensional Navier-Stokes code adopting the upwind method of Roe#s flux difference splitting scheme is used. The k-w SST turbulence model turbulence model is used to calculate the turbulent viscosity. It is shown that the reducing of the effective back-pressure make it possible to increase the penetration distance and to increase the mixing rate without excessive losses of stagnation pressure. Also, it is shown that the streamwise vorticity generated by baroclinic torque has great influences on the mixing process.

  • 효과적인 초음속 연소를 위해 연료와 공기의 빠른 혼합이 필요하며, 혼합 향상을 위해 연료분사 방식에 대한 여러 연구들이 수행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 길이-깊이 비가 4.8, 후면 경사각이 $22.5^{\circ}$인 개방형 공동 모델을 사용하였으며, 마하수 1.92에서 운동량비에 따른 분사구 주변의 유동 특성 및 연소실 내 압력 분포를 슐리렌 가시화와 압력 측정을 사용하여 파악하였다. 운동량비는 연료의 침투거리와 분사지역의 유동에 큰 영향을 끼친다.

전자척의 고정압력분포에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the chuncking Pressure Distribution of Electro-Magnetic Chucks)

  • This paper deals with the distributions of magnetic flux of an electro-magnetic chuck which is one of the most commonly used chucking attachments in a surface grinding machine. The measured results showed good correspondence with the theoretical results which were previously presented by the same author. The normal and tangential components of the magnetic flux density were measured using the gauss meter. The measured results indicated that the magnetic flux density was periodically changing over the transverse position to the magnetic pole. The normal component of magnetic flux decreases very rapidly for the increased z position.
