  • This paper describes the effective and rigorous analytic method of multipath effect which results from insufficient isolation characteristics between adjacent channels in communication payload system. It is very important to analyze the multipath effect for verifying the performance of transponder subsystem that especially is consist of multi channels. Finally the multipath effect are analyzed by calculating the GR and GDR for two adjacent channels of Ku-band transponder subsystem on the Communication & Broadcasting Satellite(CBS).

  • Engine immobilizer is the automobile security system which disables the engine if the secrete code in the transponder embedded in the key knob is not in agreement with the code in ECU of the car. There are many types of immobilizer systems, however, the encryption transponder type system is the most secure system due to the code verification method using an encryption method. As an example of the industry-university cooperation, the software development in the system is introduced in this paper.

  • In order to shorten head-way time on existing railway lines without any change of signal block length between stations, it is a realistic optional way to change the control method of train signal, i.e. to modernize the cab signal using transponder. A new signalling system of operation pattern control technique is suggested as new model to increase the railway traffic efficiency. Through the computer simulation of this model, the train head-way time by the fixed signalling system and the new pattern control system is analyzed.

  • The position and trajectory of in-flight rocket are important informations to determine the flight safety of rocket. In general tracking system, radar and transponder are used to acquire position information. Rocket position and trajectory can be determined by using RF communication between ground station and in-flight rocket and antenna position data. Onboard transponder system is composed of RF receiving part, RF transmitting one, decoder and single TX/ RX antenna. Therefore circulator is necessary for minimizing RF signal interference. In this paper, the radar transponder system was developed to track the trajectory and position of KSR-Ⅲ by using radar.

  • For the DRT satellite transponder system, BER and total SNR to be required in the earth terminal are evaluated under the condition of HPA nonlinearity in the FBJ(full-band jamming) or PBJ(partial-band jamming) of uplink and downlink. In case that the satellite Inter bandwidth( Ws) is same to the earth terminal bandwidth($W_r$),in conditions of uplink JSR 10[dB], downlink JSR 10[dB] and processing gain 30[dB], linear transponder system shows that uplink SNR needs to be 14.2[dB] to achieve the total SNR 10[dB] requirement in downlink SNR 14[dB]. However, Nonlinear transponder system with OBO(output backoff) 2[dB] requires 20.1 [dB] uplink SNR. From the above results, the nonlinearity of HPA in the satellite transponder causes the degradation of BER performance so that it is of interest to consider the power increase.

  • In this paper, we investigated the recognition range according to modulation index for the ISO(International Standards Organization) 14443 13.56MHz contactless Type B RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) system. We measured recognition range with changing modulation index step by step from 5% to 24% where we used 4 samples of Type B transponder with different resonance frequencies between 13.838MHz and 17.200MHz. While gradually increasing a distance in vertical direction from the center of the reader antenna, we measured the distance where the transponder's PUPI(Pseudo Unique PICC(Proximity IC Card) Identifier) is recognized continuously during 10 seconds and the distance where the transponder's PUPI is recognized at least two times during 5 seconds. From the measurement results, we found that the best recognition ranges were achieved when the reader had modulation index between 11% and 14%.

  • RFID system is applied to identify, locate and track people, cars, animals. In RFID system, the passive transponder without battery has some benefits than active transponder, such as no restriction in battery exchange and in battery’s life. But it needs auxiliary RF-DC conversion circuit. RF-DC conversion circuit originated from Wireless Power Transmission (WPT). In this paper, RF-DC conversion circuit consists of a microstrip patch antenna and impedance matching circuit, Cock-croft Walton circuit. And RF-DC conversion circuits have two kinds of T-type and Cross-type impedance matching circuits.

  • This paper designs a Korea train identification module using a RFID system. Frequency bandwidth transmits and receives messages using the 27.095Mhz and 4.234Mhz in the ISM bandwidth. The mode of the modulation uses a transmission ASK and a receiving FSK. And it uses a reader and transponder using an active transponder. We use the loop antenna which the antenna has the directional.

  • This study introduces about the analysis, verification and implementation of Digital Communication Satellite transponder. Through the pre-performance analysis of each component by the circuit level simulation, each component's performance was checked whether satisfying the specifications. When each of the components was connected in order, System's performances were evaluated through system harmonic balanced simulation whether satisfying the specifications. Through pre-analysis of the system performance, specification of each component was defined. On the basis of that specification, Components which comprise the Digital Communication Satellite repeater were manufactured, and finally, the overall system performance check was made by integrating the components of Digital Communication Satellite transponder.

  • This paper proposed a new transponder detection method to reduce tag recognition time and simplify anti-collision process in RFID systems. In conventional systems, a transponder in detectable area is passively recognized by responding to a reader command. In addition, if there are multiple tags in the area, a collision between tags occurs by responding at the same time to a command and anti-collision process begins. In the proposed method, tags are actively recognized without any command from a reader which results to reducing a tag recognition time and simplifying anti-collision process. To compare transponder recognition time, the process of transponder recognition in conventional systems is analysed. A circuit to detect transponder directly is developed and antenna voltage variation of a reader in the appearance of multiple transponders is analysed for the implementation of the proposed method.
