Optoelectric properties of gate-tunable n-MoS2/n-WSe2 heterojunction with proper electrode metals

  • Two dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) semiconductors are attractive materials for optoelectric devices because of their direct energy bandgap and transparency. To investigate the feasibility of transparent p-n junctions, we have fabricated a p-n heterojunction consisting of p-type WSe2 and n-type MoS2 flakes since WSe2 and MoS2 with proper electrode metals exhibit p-type and n-type behaviors, respectively. These heterojunctions exhibits gate-tunable rectifying behaviors and photovoltaic effects (ECE ~ 0.2%) indicating that p-n junctions were formed. In addition, photocurrent and photovoltaic effects were observed under light illumination, which were dependent on the gate voltage. In addition, the photocurrent mapping images indicate that the photovoltaic effects comes from the junction area. Possible origins of gate-tunability are discussed.

  • Efficient electrodes are devised for organic luminescent device(OLED). ITO electrode is treated with $O_2$ plasma. In order to inject hole efficiently, there is proposed the shape of anode that inserted plasma polymerized films as buffer layer between anode and organic layer using thiophene monomer. In the case of device inserted the buffer layer by using the plasma polymerization after $O_2$ plasma processing for ITO transparent electrode, since it forms the stable interface and reduce the moving speed of hole, the recombination of hole and electronic are made in the emitting layer. Therefore it realized the device capability of two times in the aspect of luminous efficiency than the device which do not be inserted the buffer layer. Experiments are limited to the device that has the structure of TPD/$AIq_3$, however, the aforementioned electrodes can similarly applied to the organic luminous device and the Polymer luminous device.

  • In this study, we propose Ti hole pattern structure on the transparent conductive oxide (TCO) less dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using the lift-off process to improve the low light transmittance and low efficiency caused by opaque Ti electrode. The formation of Ti hole patterns make it possible to move the dye adsorption and electrolyte. The DSSCs with Ti hole patterns showed a higher photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) than those with general structure by 11.1%. As a result, The Ti hole pattern structure can be improved to increase the light absorption of the dyes and PCE of the TCO-less DSSCs is also increased.

  • Electroluminescence is occurred when phosphor is located in electric field. In this paper, we made powder electroluminescent device (PELD) with structured ITO film/Phosphor/Insulator/Silver paste. The transparent electrode was ITO film and green(2704-01), orange(2702-02) and blue-green(2703-01) were used as phosphor. The insulator was BaTiO$_3$ and $Y_2$O$_3$, back electrode was silver paste. To investigate electrical and optical properties of PELDs, EL spectrum, Brightness, Transferred charge density using Sawyer-Tower\`s circuit was measured.

Printed black internal conducting electrodes for flexible bistable cholesteric displays

  • We report flexible, bistable cholesteric displays utilizing polyester (PET) substrates with printed internal black electrodes. The black electrodes consist of carbon ink dispersed in butyl carbitol using a patented roll-to-roll gravure-offset printing. A transparent conducting polymer printed on PET serves as the counter electrode. The electro-optic material is a chiral nematic mixture dispersed in a low-concentration polymer binder. The device can be switched between scattering (black) and reflective (vibrant green) states upon application of an electric pulse. The internal black electrode enhances the contrast of the display and simplifies the roll-to-roll manufacture of flexible displays.

  • A photodiode capable of obtaining a sufficient photo/dark current ratio at both a forward bias state and a reverse bias state is proposed. The photodiode includes a glass substrate, an aluminum film formed as a lower electrode over the glass substrate, an alumina film formed as a schottky barrier over the aluminum film, a hydrogenated amorphous silicon film formed as a photo conduction layer over a portion of the alumina film, and a transparent conduction film formed as an upper electrode over the hydro-generated amorphous silicon film. Growth of high quality alumina($Al_{2}O_{3}$) film using anodizing technology is proposed and analyzed by experiment. We have obtained the film with a superior characteristics

  • The charged particle have characteristics of high-contrast ratio and wide-view angle, quick-response time. When positive voltage is applied to the upper electrode, the yellow particles with negative charge move toward the upper substrate and the black particles with positive charge move toward opposite direction. We have developed the putting method that can fill particles in cell of panel and control the amount of charged particles. We investigated putting method, fabrication process, aging and driving for charged particle type display.

Gas Permeable Membranes Composed of Carboxylated Poly(vinyl chloride) and Polyurethane

  • Gas-Permeable polymeric membranes containing carboxyl groups which are suitable for enzyme immobilization were investigated in order to use them as gas electrode membranes in biosensors. Carboxylated polyurethane (CPU) was synthesized via a reaciton between 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid as a chain extender and prepolymers prepared from polycarprolactone(Mn=2,000) and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocynate. It was difficult to prepared membranes from the pure CPU because of its high elasticity and cohesion. However, transparent free-standing membranes were easily prepared from the blend solution of CPU and carboxylated poly(vinyl chloride)(CPVC) in tetrahydrofuran. Both elasticity and cohesion of the CPU/CPVC membranes were decreased with increasing the content of CPVC. DSC experiment suggests that CPU and CPVC may be well mixed. Permeability coefficients for O₂and CO₂(Po₂and Pco₂)in the membranes increased as the proportion of CPU increased. The addition of dioxtyl phthalate(DOP), a plasticizer, significantly enhanced the Po₂and Pco₂which were 4,4 and 30 barrer, respectively, in the CPU/CPVC(80/20 wt/wt) membranes containing 20% of DOP at 25℃ and 100psi. Thus this type of membranes may have a potential for the use as gas electrode membranes in biosensors.

Novel Interface-engineered Junction Technology for Digital Circuit Applications

  • Interface-engineered junctions with $YbBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{7}$ as the counter electrode were demonstrated. The junctions exhibited excellent Josephson characteristics with a Josephson critical current ($I_{c}$) ranging from 0.1 mA to 8 mA and a magnetic field modulation of the $I_{c}$ exceeding 80% at 4.2 K while maintaining complete c-axis orientation of the counter-electrode layer. The$ 1\sigma$ spreads in $I_{c}$ for junctions with an average $I_{c}$ of 1-2 mA were 5-8% for 16 junctions within a chip, and 9.3% for a 100-junction array. Our dI/dV measurements suggest that a theoretical approach taking into account both a highly transparent barrier and the proximity effect is required to fully understand the Junction characteristics.ristics.
