  • A numerical experiment is conduced to study the wave screening effectiveness of wave barriers which are constructed to reduce the ground-transmitted vibration. The finite element method is used for the simulation of the wave propagation behavior. In order to reduce the computational burden the absorbing boundary's one employed. Validity of the numerical model is checked by comparing the results with the published data. The screening effectiveness of the in filled trenches is then studied for different trench dimensions and material properties.

  • A numerical study is conducted to examine the wave scattering at infilled trenches which may be constructed to reduce the ground-transmitted vibration. The finite element method is used for the simulation of the wave propagation in the semi-infinite region. In order to keep the computational burden manageable, the absorbing boundaries are employed. The numerical technique is validated by modeling a published problem. The results are shown to be in good agreement with the published data. The screening effectiveness of the infilled trenches is then studied for different trench dimensions and material properties.

초임계 보일러 재열기 급수 공급배관의 과도 음향진동 진단 및 회피설계 (Mechanism Diagnosis and Avoidance Design on Transient Acoustic Vibration of Reheater Water Supply Piping in Supercritical Boiler)

  • In this paper, the mechanism identification and the avoidance measures on the phenomena of transient acoustic vibration amplified at the water-supply piping system to regulate the steam temperature of the boiler reheater in 500MW class supercritical power plant are presented. The pressure pulsation waves induced by the impeller passing of two feed-water pumps with five blades are coincident with the local acoustic modes of boiler reheater water-supply piping system. There are the phenomena amplified at the peaks of 5X, 10X, 15X and 20X in spectrums of piping vibration, sound pressure, and the feed-water's pressure pulsation waves. The shut-off device is installed in the piping system for the interception of pressure pulsation waves transmitted from two feed-water pumps and the modified design change of the piping layout is applied for the acoustic resonance avoidance. The acoustic natural frequencies are separated from the harmonics of pressure pulsation waves induced by the pump impellers passing through the design change of the span length. The acoustic vibration is gone by resonance avoidance measures. As a result, more than 20 dBA reduction is achieved from 100 dBA to 80 dBA.

유한요소법을 이용한 골판지 포장화물내 배의 진동해석 (Vibration Analysis of Pears in Packaged Freight Using Finite Element Method)

  • Fruits we subjected to complex dynamic stresses in the transportation environment. During a long journey from the production area to markets, there is always some degree of vibration present. Vibration inputs are transmitted from the vehicle through the packaging to the fruit. Inside, these cause sustained bouncing of fruits against each other and container wall. These steady state vibration input may cause serious fruit injury, and this damage is particularly severe whenever the fruit inside the package is free to bounce, and is vibrated at its resonant frequency. The determination of the resonant frequencies of the fruit may help the packaging designer to determine the proper packaging system providing adequate protection for the fruit, and to understand the complex interaction between the components of fruit when they relate to expected transportation vibration inputs. The vibration characteristics of the pears in corrugated fiberboard container in transit were analyzed using FEM (finite element method) modeling, and the FEM modeling approach was first validated by comparing the results obtained from simulation and experiment for the pear in the frequency range 3 to 150 Hz and acceleration level of 0.25 G-rms and it was found that between simulated and measured frequencies of the pears have a relatively good agreement. It was observed that the fruit and vegetables in corrugated fiberboard container could be analyzed by finite element method. As the elastic modulus of the cushion materials of corrugated fiberboard pad and tray cup decreased, the first frequencies of upper and lower pears increased and the peak acceleration decreased.

  • The prevalence of obesity and its complications is steadily increasing worldwide. It is essential to understand cellular level metabolism and microenvironment to treat diseases related to lipid metabolism. Mechanical loading can activate signaling pathway by stimulating cells, especially vibration loading known to inhibit adipogenesis, so it has been studied as a treatment for obesity. Also, vibration loading can affect the inside of the human body non-invasively. Another clue to reducing adipose tissue is browning, which means that white adipocytes changes to brown adipocyte. In this study, we design and developed a device that that can control cell-cell contact, and vibration simulation device. Using these two devices, we investigated responses of cells to vibration loading. Protein expression associated with browning and adipogenesis were analyzed. In conclusion, vibration loading can be transmitted through cell contact and loading applied to the cells can induce browning and inhibit adipogenesis of preadipocytes. These results suggest the possibility that vibrations could be a treatment for obesity.

  • This paper applies the fuzzy logic controller to a semiactive seat suspension system in order to obtain the better ride comfort in constraint of specific rattle space. The seat suspension system used for this research is a scissors-type one with the MR (Magnetic Rheological) fluid damper. Since a seat suspension system with a driver can not be exactly modeled, it is effective to control with the fuzzy logic controller. The rule was carefully tuned to effectively reduce the vibration transmitted to a driver. The on-road ride was realized on a hydraulic excitor and the result shows that the fuzzy controller has reduced the vibration of a seat suspension system compared to the continuous skyhook controller.

  • This gaper discusses a multidisciplinary design optimization of the engine mounting system to improve the ride quality of a vehicle and to remove the possibility of the resonance between the powertrain system and vehicle systems. The driveline model attempts to support engine mount development by providing sufficient detail for design modification assessment in a modeling environment. Design variables used in this study are the locations, the angles and the stiffness of an engine mount system. The goal of the optimization is both decoupling the roll mode ova powertrain and minimizing the vibration transmitted to the vehicle including the powertrain, simultaneously. By applying forced vibration analysis for vehicle systems and mode decouple analysis for the engine mount system, it is shown that improved optimization result is obtained.

  • This paper investigates the underwater acoustic radiation from a periodically stiffened cylindrical shell excited resiliently mounted machinery. Underwater acoustic radiation is important to a submarine. Generally, submarine structure can be modeled as stiffened cylindrical shell immersed in water. Analytical model is derived for the far-field acoustic radiation from machinery installed inside cylindrical shell. The analytical model includes the effect of fluid loading and interactions between periodic ring stiffeners. Transmitted force from machine to a shell through isolator can be different by the impedance of shell. In this paper the effect of a shell impedance for acoustic radiation is investigated. Impedance of a shell should be considered if thickness of a shell is thin.

타이어 공명 소음 저감체 개발 (Tire Cavity Noise Reducing Material Development)

  • Vibrations transmitted through rolling tire are major sources of road noise in vehicle interior on the range of $0{\sim}500Hz$. Among various road noises, tire cavity noise makes many problems recently. Vehicle NVH performance has improved better and road surfaces are made well. But tires are changed to high inches and low series. So tire cavity noise becomes more serious. In this paper, a designed material for reducing tire cavity noise is proposed. On the surface inside tire, this material is attached at one position using double-tape. This material disperses the pressure variations inside the tire. So a spindle forces at wheel center are reduced. And tire cavity noise at vehicle interior is also reduced. Durability is verified by tire only test and vehicle test. Noise performance also compared with peak levels after attaching this material.

  • As the waterpower generation plant, the subject of this Study, is a facility that produces plenty of electricity corresponds to $196{\sim}240GWh$ annually, and in its generation process it creates a loud noise when the turbine related to the hydraulic turbine dynamo revolves, and since such loud noise must be transmitted to the dynamo room and amplified, it is effecting a lot of influences to the adjacent office and space. In such viewpoint, this Research, based on the soundproof measure presented at the preceding research, has attempted to evaluate about the effect of noise-reduction countermeasure against the hydraulic turbine dynamo using Auralizational Technique through Psycho-Acoustics Experiment. It deems that such result could be applied hereafter as the useful material when setting up a soundproof countermeasure for the hydraulic turbine dynamo room in dam.
