Titanium-doped indium oxide (ITiO) films were prepared on soda-lime glass substrate using a magnetic null discharge (MND) sputter source. The ITiO thin films containing 10 wt.% Ti showed the minimum resistivity of ${\rho}=5.5{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$. The optical transmittance increases from 70% at 450 nm to 80% at 700 nm in visible spectrum. The surface roughness of the sample showed a change from 10 nm to 50 nm. The ITiO film used for TCO layer of DSCs exhibited an energy conversion efficiency of about 3.8 % at light intensity of 100 $mW/cm^2$.
Aluminum oxide thin films were grown on a poly ethylene naphthalate (PEN) substrate at the temperature of 100$^{\circ}C$ using atomic layer deposition method. The film showed very flat morphology and good adhesion to the substrate. The visible spectrum showed higher transmittance in the range from 400 nm to 800 nm than that of PEN. The water vapor transmission value measured with MOCON for 230nm oxide-deposited PEN was 0.62g/$m^2$/day @ 38$^{\circ}C$, while that of PEN substrate was 1.4g/$m^2$/day @ 38$^{\circ}C$.

Computer code was developed to design waveguide gratings based on coupled-mode equations and the transfer matrix formalism. The experimental set-up has been constructed for inscribing Bragg gratings in planar waveguides with a phase mask and uv laser beam, which enables alignment and packaging of grating devices as well as in-situ performance measurements. Bragg grating has been fabricated on silica planar waveguides with 0.75% Germanium concentration and its transmittance spectrum was measured to have 95% reflectance at the peak wavelength. Optical losses as the function of the misalignment were measured and their usage is described.

Al doped Zinc Oxide(ZnO:Al) films, which is widely used as a transparent conductor in optoelectronic devices such as solar cell, plasma display panel, thermal heater, and other sensors, were prepared by using the capacitively coupled DC magnetron sputtering method. The influence of the substrate temperature, working gas pressure and deposition time on the electrical, optical and morphological properties were investigated experimentally. ZnO:Al films with the optimum growth conditions of working gas pressure and
substrate temperature showed resistivity of $9.64{\times}10^{-4}\;{\Omega}$-cm and transmittance of 90.02% for a film 860nm thick in the wavelength range of the visible spectrum.

Antimony doped tin oxyde thin films have been deposited by sol-gel method using non-alkoxide precursor SnCl$_2$$.$2H$_2$O as host and SbC1$_3$ as dopant material. Using spin coating method, thin films of thickness up to 200nm have been uniformly deposited on Corning 1737F non-alkali glass substrates. Effect of Sb doping concentration and heat treatment on electrical and optical properties was investigated. Heat treatment was performed at the temperature from 350$^{\circ}C$ to 650$^{\circ}C$ in flowing O$_2$. The resulting ATO films showed widely changing electrical resistivity and optical transmittance values in the visible spectrum depending on the composition and firing condition.

Antimony doped tin oxide (ATO) thin films were deposited at room temperature by reactive ion-beam sputter deposition (IBSD) technique in oxidizing atmosphere utilizing Sb and Sn metal targets. Effect of Sb doping concentration, film thickness and heat treatment on electrical and optical properties was investigated. The thickness of as-deposited films was controlled approximately to 1500 $\AA$ or 2000$\AA$, and Sb concentration to 10.8 and 14.9 wt%, as determined by SEM and XPS analyses. Heat treatment was performed at the temperature from 40$0^{\circ}C$ to 80$0^{\circ}C$ in flowing $O_2$or forming gas. The resulting ATO films showed widely changing electrical resistivity and optical transmittance values in the visible spectrum depending on the composition, thickness and firing condition.

We have deposited aluminum-doped ZnO thin films on borosilicate glass by atomic layer deposition. Diethylzinc (DEZ) and dimethylaluminum isopropoxide (DMAIP) were used as the metal precursor and the Al-dopant, respectively. Water was used as an oxygen source. DMAIP was successfully used as an aluminum precursor for chemical vapor deposition and ALD. All deposited films showed n-type conduction. The resistivity decreased to a minimum and then increased with increasing the aluminum content. The carrier concentration increased and the carrier mobility decreased with increasing the DMAIP to DEZ pulse ratio. The average optical transmittance was nearly 80 % in the visible part of the spectrum. The absorption edge moved to the shorter wavelength region with increasing the DMAIP to DEZ pulse ratio. Our results indicate that DMAIP is suitable for Al doping of ZnO films.

Chemical vapor deposition of $SnO_2$ on Pyrex glass substrate has been investigated using $SnCl_4$ and Oxygen at relatively low temperatures(300-500$^{\circ}C$). The critical flow rate, which delineated the surface reaction controlled region from the mass transfer controlled region, was increased with deposition temperature. The apparent activation energy obtained in surface reaction controlled region was about 6Kcal/mole. The results show that deposition rate, electrical conductivity and transmittance were affected mainly by partial pressure of $SnCl_4$, but little by partial pressure f oxygen. The % transmission of 5000A-thick $SnO_2$ film was about 90% in visible spectrum region and sheet resistance was varied in 0.1-10${\Omega}$ per square shaped portion of the outer surface of the oxide.
As a new type of spectrometer, that based on filters with different transmittance features attracts a lot of attention for its advantages such as small-size, low cost, and simple optical structure. It uses post-processing algorithms to achieve target spectrum reconstruction; therefore, the performance of the spectrometer is severely affected by noise. The influence of noise on the spectral reconstruction results is studied in this paper, and suggestions for solving the spectral reconstruction problem under noisy conditions are given. We first list different spectral reconstruction methods, and through simulations demonstrate that these methods show unsatisfactory performance under noisy conditions. Then we propose to apply the gradient projection for sparse reconstruction (GRSR) algorithm to the spectral reconstruction method. Simulation results show that the proposed method can significantly reduce the influence of noise on the spectral reconstruction process. Meanwhile, the accuracy of the spectral reconstruction results is dramatically improved. Therefore, the practicality of the filter-based spectrometer will be enhanced.

There is a need for the development of transparent conductive materials that are economical and environmentally friendly with exhibit low resistivity and high transmittance in the visible spectrum. In this study, the deposition rate and uniformity of Al-doped ZnO-thin films were improved by changing the Z-motion of the sputtering system. The deposition rate and the uniformity were determined to be 3.44 nm/min and 1.23%, respectively, under the 10 mm Z-motion condition. During $O_2$ plasma treatment, the intrusion-type metal elements in the thin film were reduced, which contributed to an oxygen vacancy reduction in addition to structural stabilization. Moreover, the sheet resistance was more easily saturated.
