A Study on the Characteristics of Coupling Loss factor Associated with Fluid Loading (접수 구조물의 연성손실계수 변화에 관한 연구)

  • Statistical Energy Analysis(SEA) is an efficient tool to predict the broadband noise and vibration for the huge and complex structures such as aircraft and ships. To estimate the noise and vibration by using SEA accurately, the characteristics of SEA parameters associated with fluid loading have to be investigated. In this report, the fluid loaded coupling loss factors were calculated for an 'L' and 'T' type line connections and compared to the ones without fluid loading. Then, the vibration levels for steel box model with 'L' and 'T' type line connection were computed using the fluid loaded and no fluid loaded coupling loss factors, respectively. As a result, the calculated vibration levels of the model using the fluid loaded coupling loss factors were lower than those without fluid loading. As a conclusion, it is necessary to use the fluid loaded coupling loss factors for increasing the prediction accuracy on the noise and vibration of immersed structures.

  • Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor codes are used as channelization codes in WCDMA. In this particular paper, we present a new OVSF codes which is generated from the Jacket Matrices for DS-CDMA systems. The simulations result shows that the purposed OVSF can efficiently reduce the peak values of the correlations than the conventional HOVSF without orthogonality loss. It will be useful to detect the multi-user system under the asynchronous system and save the power of transmission.

  • This paper researched the adiabatic characteristic, safety and sound insulation characteristic of rolling stock window pane type and transition process of korean train vehicle window glass, and also including investigating a hereafter course of development. The window pane have provided the romantic feeling and the external scenery of train travel to the passenger in period of korea 110 year railway history. From the adiabatic viewpoint, this paper reviewed heat conductivity(U-value) and solar factor according to window pane type, including the safety and sound transmission loss of window pane.

A hybrid model of regional path loss of wireless signals through the wall

  • Wall obstruction is the main factor leading to the non-line of sight (NLoS) error of indoor localization based on received signal strength indicator (RSSI). Modeling and correcting the path loss of the signals through the wall will improve the accuracy of RSSI localization. Based on electromagnetic wave propagation theory, the reflection and transmission process of wireless signals propagation through the wall is analyzed. The path loss of signals through wall is deduced based on power loss and RSSI definition, and the theoretical model of path loss of signals through wall is proposed. In view of electromagnetic characteristic parameters of the theoretical model usually cannot be accurately obtained, the statistical model of NLoS error caused by the signals through the wall is presented based on the log-distance path loss model to solve the parameters. Combining the statistical model and theoretical model, a hybrid model of path loss of signals through wall is proposed. Based on the empirical values of electromagnetic characteristic parameters of the concrete wall, the effect of each electromagnetic characteristic parameters on path loss is analyzed, and the theoretical model of regional path loss of signals through the wall is established. The statistical model and hybrid model of regional path loss of signals through wall are established by RSSI observation experiments, respectively. The hybrid model can solve the problem of path loss when the material of wall is unknown. The results show that the hybrid model can better express the actual trend of the regional path loss and maintain the pass loss continuity of adjacent areas. The validity of the hybrid model is verified by inverse computation of the RSSI of the extended region, and the calculated RSSI is basically consistent with the measured RSSI. The hybrid model can be used to forecast regional path loss of signals through the wall.

  • A storage or transmission of image is difficult without image compression processing because the numbers of generated or reborned image data are very much. In case of the random signal, image compression efficiency is low doing without loss of image information, but compressibility by using JPEG is better. We used Huffman code of JPEG, it assigne the low bit value for data of a lot of generated frequency, assigne the high bit value for data of a small quantity. This paper improved image compression efficiency with transformming Q-factor and certified the results with compressed image. A proposed method is very efficience for continuos a color tone image.

  • A terahertz asymmetric split-loop resonator (ASLR) was analyzed for use in high-sensitivity sensing applications. Its structural asymmetricity induces an asymmetric Fano resonance which has a high quality factor compared to the symmetric eigen-resonance. The variations of the resonant frequency, transmission coefficient, and quality factor of the ASLR in the eigen and Fano resonances are analyzed as a function of its structural asymmetricity. Also, the surface current densities on the ASLR in both resonances are calculated to analyze the main cause of the variations of its transmission characteristics. The surface current of the ASLR in the eigen resonance shows a dipole resonance, which increases the radiation loss and reduces the quality factor. On the other hand, the surface current of the ASLR in the Fano resonance shows a trapped or quadrupole mode which has a low radiation loss. Therefore, the ASLR operated in the Fano resonance has a high quality factor. Terahertz, high-performance filters and high sensitivity sensors can be developed based on our analysis results of the ASLR having a high quality factor. These high-performance devices based on terahertz metamaterials could increase the adoption of terahertz industrial applications.

  • In this paper, Power Flow Analysis(PFA) method has been applied to the prediction of vibration energy density and intensity of coupled shell structures in the medium-to-high frequency ranges. To consider the wave transformation at joint between shell elements, power transmission and reflection coefficients are investigated for various joint angles, and here Donnell-Mushtari thin shell theory has been used. For validations computations are performed to analyze the response of coupled shells by changing the excitation frequency and damping loss factor.

  • A free sparse transmission method using X-band standard gain horn antenna is applied to measure the attenuation and phase shift of microwave signal through the wetted grain such as rough rice, brown rice and barley. The moisture content of grain varied from 11 to 25% based on its wetted condition. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The measured values of dielectric constants as a function of moisture density are compared with values of those obtained using the predicted model for estimating dielectric constants of grain.

  • In ceramic systems using LTCC, many components including embedded passives and TRL's are used for composition of 3-dimensional circuit. So the exact analysis on this components must be performed. As for the TRL's, material properties including electrical conductivity of metal, loss factor and effective dielectric constant of dielectric material and geometrical factors like roughness of surface, vias, dimension of TRL structure have a large effect on the characteristics of transmission lines. Such properties of materials have different values in each system with ideal ones presented in text book. In this research, the effective material properties in each system are examined and the effect of material properties and geometrical factors on the characteristics of TRL's are analyzed and quantified by simulation and measurement.

  • In this study, An analysis of correlation between the vibration transmissions and the dynamic characteristics for floor impact sound insulation materials through model test was carried out. As the results, the correlation coefficients between the vibration transmissions and the dynamic characteristics for floor impact sound insulation materials were over 0.8 at the heavy and light floor impact source and less dynamic stiffness was more effective in reducing the vibration transmission.
