  • The usage of constant velocity (CV) joint is effective for motorboats on gliding regime of the motion. During transition on the gliding when angle of the CV differs from null on driving and driven composite shafts there are moments of the second order. Excitation of oscillations of the second order moments occurs when driving shafts transmits a variable torque. which generates through CV joint a lateral moment acting on the bearing. As a result of oscillations from a resonating harmonic of a shafting the harmonic with the greater or periodically varying amplitude for power condition trough transferring to nominal power 144kW. Beating conditions coincide with third mode having frequency 45.486 Hz. In that case there is high increasing of the equivalent stresses. The forming of the stiffness of the composite material is concerned to use most orientation of the layer angle in the range of $\pm$60 degrees relatively of shaft axis. Application of that angles for layer orientation gives possibility to avoid high disturbance of the shafting for motorboat transition regime.

  • This paper showed mechanical properties and behaviors of macrostructures for specimens welded by F.S.W according to welding conditions and tool with 6.35$mm_t$ aluminum 7075-T651alloy plate. It resulted in defect-free weld zone in case tool rotation speed was 800rpm, 1250rpm and 1600rpm respectively that transition speed was changed to 15mm/min, 61mm/min and 124mm/min with tool's pin diameter 4${\Phi}$mm and 6${\Phi}$mm. The optimum mechanical property, ultimate stress,${\sigma}_Y$=470Mpa was obtained at the condition of 124mm/min of travel speed with 800rpm of tool rotation speed using full screw type pin, shoulder dia. 20${\Phi}$mm, pin dia.6${\Phi}$mm and pin length 6mm. The full-screw type and the half-screw type pin showed the similar behaviors of weldability. It is found that the size of nugget was depended on tool transition speed and tool dimension by macrostructures of the cross section of weld zone.

  • Zr-based bulk metallic glasses have a significant mechanical properties such as high strength and elastic strain limit, and a good processing ability due to the deformation behavior such as superplasticity under supercooled liquid region. Recently, many researches on the determination of optimum working condition in various bulk metallic glasses have been carried out. In this study, the deformation behavior and forming conditions of $Zr_{55}Cu_{30}Al_{10}Ni_{5}$ bulk metallic glass were investigated under three different strain rates and at various temperatures between 627K and 727K. The glass transition temperature, crystallization temperature and supercooled liquid region of $Zr_{55}Cu_{30}Al_{10}Ni_{5}$ bulk metallic glass are 680K, 762K and 82K, respectively.

  • In this study, we suggest the new emitter formation applied solid phase epitaxy (SPE) growth process using rapid thermal process (RTP). Preferentially, we describe the SPE growth of intrinsic a-Si thin film through RTP heat treatment by radio-frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (RF-PECVD). Phase transition of intrinsic a-Si thin films were taken place under $600^{\circ}C$ for 5 min annealing condition measured by spectroscopic ellipsometer (SE) applied to effective medium approximation (EMA). We confirmed the SPE growth using high resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) analysis. Similarly, phase transition of P doped a-Si thin films were arisen $700^{\circ}C$ for 1 min, however, crystallinity is lower than intrinsic a-Si thin films. It is referable to the interference of the dopant. Based on this, we fabricated 16.7% solar cell to apply emitter layer formed SPE growth of P doped a-Si thin films using RTP. We considered that is a relative short process time compare to make the phosphorus emitter such as diffusion using furnace. Also, it is causing process simplification that can be omitted phosphorus silicate glass (PSG) removal and edge isolation process.

  • This paper presents the reliability estimation of door hinge for home appliances, which consists of bushing and shaft. The predominant failure mechanism of bushing made of polyoxymethylene(POM) is brittle fracture due to decrease of strength caused by voids existing, and that of shaft made of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) is creep due to plastic deformation caused by excessive temperature and lowering of glass transition temperature by absorbed moisture. Since the brittle fracture of bushing is overstress failure mechanism, the load-strength interference model is used to estimate the failure rate of it along with failure analysis. By the way, the creep of shaft is wearout failure mechanism, and an accelerated life test is then planned and implemented to estimate its lifetime. Through the technical review about failure mechanism, temperature and humidity are selected as accelerating variables. Assuming Weibull lifetime distribution and Eyring model, the life-stress relationship and acceleration factor, B$_{10}$ life and its lower bound with 90% confidence at worst case use condition are estimated by analyzing the accelerated life test data.a.

  • For $VO_{2}$ sensors applicable to temperature measurement by using the nature of semiconductor to metal transition, the crystallinity, microstructure, and temperature vs. resistance characteristics were investigated systematically as a function of the annealing condition. The starting materials, vanadium pentoxide ($V_{2}O_{5}$) powders, were mixed with vehicle to form paste. This paste was screen-printed on $Al_{2}O_{3}$ substrates and then $VO_{2}$ thick films were heat-treated at $450^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$, respectively, for 1 hr in $N_{2}$ gas atmosphere for the reduction. As results of the temperature vs. resistance property measurements, the electrical resistance of the $V_{2}O_{5}$ sensor in phase transition range was decreased by $10^{3.9}$ order. The presented critical temperature sensor could be used in fire-protection and control systems.

  • Owing to the lightening of railway vehicles and increased operation speeds, the reduction of running safety in the presence of crosswind is becoming an important problem. In particular, the running safety tends to decrease when vehicles run on curved track. When a crosswind acts on a vehicle negotiating a curve from the outer side, flange climbing can occur. In this study, a full-vehicle model was constructed using the multi-body simulation software SIMPACK, and a simulation of a bogie vehicle with two-axle trucks negotiating a curve was carried out to examine the running safety under the condition where a crosswind acts on the vehicle from the outer side of the curve. As a result, it was verified that the derailment coefficient of the first wheelset becomes large in the exit transition curve and the coefficient of the third wheelset does in the entrance transition curve, and this trend becomes pronounced at low operation speeds in the presence of a stronger crosswind. It was also shown that the critical derailment coefficients obtained by modified Nadal's formula considering the effect of attack angle become close to the actual derailment coefficients at the timing that flange climbing occurs.

  • The shock tube is a useful device for investigating shock phenomena, spray combustion, unsteady gas dynamics, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze exactly the flow phenomena in shock tube. In this study, the mechanics of its reflected shock zone has been investigated by using of the one-dimensional gas dynamic theory in order to estimate the transition from initial reflection of shock wave region. Calulation for four kinds of reflected shock tube temperature (i.e. (a) 1388 K (b) 1276 K (c) 1168 K (d) 1073 K) corresponding to the experimental conditions have been carried out sumarized as follows. (1) The qualitative tendency is almost the same as in that conditions in region of reflected wave region. (2) High temperature period (reflected shock wave temperature) $T_{5}$, exists 0-2.65 ms. (3) Transition period from temperature of reflection shock wave is far longer than the calculated one. This principally attributed to the fact that the contact surface is accelerated, also, due to the release of energy by viscoity effect. This apparatus can advance the ignition process of a spray in a ideal condition that involved neither atomization nor turbulent mixing process, where, using a shock tube, a column of droplets freely from atomizer was ignited behind a reflected shock.

  • A high-temperature sodium stainless steel heat pipe was fabricated and its performance has been investigated. The working fluid was sodium and it was sealed inside a straight tube container made of stainless steel. The amount of sodium occupied approximately 20% of the total volume of the heat pipe and its weight was 65.7gram. The length of a stainless steel container is 1002mm and its outside diameter is 25.4mm. Performance tests were carried out in a room air condition under a free convective environment and the measured temperatures are presented. The start-up behavior of the heat pipe from a frozen state was investigated for various heat input values between 600W and 1205W. In steady state, axial temperature distributions of a heat pipe were measured and its heat transfer rates were estimated in the range of vapor temperature from 50$0^{\circ}C$ to 63$0^{\circ}C$. It is found that there are small temperature differences in the vapor core along the axial direction of a sodium heat pipe for the high operating temperatures. But for the range of low operating temperatures there are large temperature drops along the vapor core region of a sodium heat pipe, because a small vapor pressure drop makes a large temperature drop. The transition temperature was reached more rapidly in the cases of high heat input rate for the sodium heat pipe.

  • In the present experimental study, the regime limit and pressure drop of dry-plug flow (dry wall condition at the gas portions of plug flow) in round mini-channels has been investigated. The air-water mixture was flowed through the round mini-channels made of Teflon, where the tube diameters ranged from 1.26 to 2.06 mm. For the present experimental range, with decreasing of the tube diameter, the transition between the plug and slug flows (wet and dry) happened at the higher gas superficial velocity region, which were in good agreement with the previous flow pattern maps tested. On the other hand, the transition between the wet- and dry-plug flows was little affected by the change of the tube diameter. In the pressure drop of dry-plug flows, among the correlations tested, the Lee and Lee's (2008) correlation best fitted the measured pressure drop data within the mean deviation of 10% for the present experimental range.
