Dynamics of a Rotating Cantilever Beam Near Its Critical Angular Speed (임계각속도 주변에서의 회전 외팔보의 동역학)

  • Dynamics of a rotating cantilever beam near its critical angular speed is investigated in this paper. The external, force is idealized as a periodic function which has the same period as the rotati ng frequency of the beam. The equations of motion are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. A prescribed spin-up motion is employed for the rotating motion. Numerical study shows that the steady state and the transient responses of the beam are affected by the spin-up time constant and there exists a time constant at which the maximum transient response becomes minimum.

  • This paper proposed a speed control system for induction motors robust to variations in torque and parameters by feedforward compensating the current portion of load torque, adding a load torque observer to the conventional PI controller in the indirect vector controlled induction motor system. Computer simulations and exeperimental works using the proposed control confirm that the transient response for the variation of the reference speed and load torque becomes improved, compared with the conventional PI controled method.

  • For high performance ac drives, the speed sensorless vector control and a speed control algorithm base on the Fuzzy PI controller have received increasing attention. A Fuzzy PI controller is used for robust and fast speed control and space vector modulation method is used for PWM wave generation in this proposed system. The computer simulation results show that the proposed controller are more excellent control characteristics than conventional PI controller in transient-state response.

  • The conventional PI controller are fragile in parameter variation and load-variation. Therefore, in this paper, a speed control algorithm based on the Fuzzy PI controller is proposed for the high performance speed control of a voltage-source inverter to drive 3-phase induction motors. The computer simulation results show that the proposed controller are more excellent control characteristics than conventional PI controller in transient-state and steady-state response.

  • This paper proposes the fuzzy logic based variable step-size MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) method for the stability at the steady state and the improvement of the transient response in the wind power system. If the change value of duty ratio is set on stability of the steady state, MPPT control traces to maximum power point slowly. And if the change value is set on improvement of the transient response, the system output oscillates at the maximum power point. By adjusting the step size with fuzzy logic, it can be improved the MPPT response speed and stability at steady state when MPPT control is performed to track the maximum power point. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been verified by simulations and experimental results.

  • A design of PI controller to be used to control the first-order lag plus dead time process, such as a flow process, by the coefficient diagram method (CDM) is investigated. The factor of the dead time of process is first approximated to be the first-order by the Pade approximation. The response of the flow control system designed by CDM satisfy both transient and steady state specifications. However, the transient response generally still has long rise time.   • Generally, while PD-type fuzzy controller has good performance in transient period, it has uniform steady state error of response. To improve limitations of PD-type fuzzy controller, we propose a new fuzzy controller to improve the performance of transient response and to eliminate the steady state error of response. In this paper, PD-type fuzzy controller is used a simplified indirect inference method(SIIM). When the SIIM is applied, the proposed method has the capability of the high speed inference and adapting with increasing the number of the fuzzy input variables easily. The outputs of this controller are the output calculated by PD-type fuzzy controller and the accumulated error scaling factor. Here, the accumulated error scaling factor is adjusted by fuzzy rule according to the system state variables. To show the usefulness of the proposed controller, it is applied to 0-type 2nd-order linear system.

  • The demand of vacuum pump has been increased in the process of semi-conduct manufacturing, as a core component. The response of the system for vacuum pump performance test can be utilized to assess the system and to obtain the reliability of the apparatus for the test. The system consists of gas supply tank, pressure chamber, measurement chamber and transmission line. Transient analysis for compressible fluid has been conducted to evaluate the dynamic characteristic of the volume terminated transmission line. Numerical approach based on the method of characteristics is used for the analysis. The response is evaluated with the important parameters for the system: i.e., length and diameter of the line, volume of the terminal tank. Using the numerical results, pumping speeds are calculated and then compared to the experimental results.

  • This paper presents a three-dimensional flexible pavement simulated in ANSYS subjected to moving vehicular load on the surface of the pavement typical for the road section in Nepal. The adopted finite element (FE) model of pavement is validated with the classical theoretical formulations for half-space pavement. The validated model is further utilized to understand the damping and dynamic response of the pavement. Transient analysis of the developed FE model is done to understand the time varying response of the pavement under a moving vehicle. The material properties of pavement considered in the analysis is taken from typical road section used in Nepal. The response quantities of pavement with nonlinear viscoelastic asphalt layer are found significantly higher compared to the elastic pavement counterpart. The structural responses of the pavement decrease with increase in the vehicle speed due to less contact time between the tires of the vehicle and the road pavement.

  • The application of a sliding mode control for improving the dynamic response of an induction motor based speed control system is presented in this paper and provides attractive features, such as fast response, good transient performance, and insensitivity to variations in plant parameters and external disturbance. However, chattering is a difficult problem for which the sliding mode control is a popular solution. This paper presents a new fuzzy-sliding mode controller for a sensorless vector-controlled induction motor servo system to practically eliminate the chattering problem for traction applications. A DSP based implementation of the speed control system is employed. Experimental results are presented using a propulsion system simulator. The performance of the drive is shown to be practically free from chattering.
