The spectrum of impulse response signal from an impulse hammer testing is widely used to obtain frequency response function(FRF). However the FRFs obtained from impact hammer testing have not only leakage errors but also finite record length errors when the record length for the signal processing is not sufficiently long. The errors cannot be removed with the conventional signal analyzer which treats the signals as if they are always steady and periodic. Since the response signals generated by the impact hammer are transient and have damping, they are undoubtedly non-periodic. It is inevitable that the signals be acquired for limited recording time, which causes the errors. This paper makes clear the relation between the errors of FRF and the length of recording time. A new method is suggested to reduce the errors of FRF in this paper. Several numerical examples for 1-dof model are carried out to show the property of the errors and the validity of the proposed method.
This paper presents a fuzzy dynamic output feedback controller design method for Parallel Distributed Compensation (PDC)-type Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) model based fuzzy dynamic system with H$\infty$ performance and additional constraints on the closed pole placement. Design condition for these controller is obtained in terms of the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The proposed fuzzy controller satisfies the disturbance rejection performance and the desired transient response. The design method is verified by this method for an inverted pendulum with a cart using the proposed method.

This research demonstrates the transient response of a head disk assembly subjected to a half-sine shock pulse in the axial direction. In case of disk analysis, the numerical method presented by Barasch and Chen is used. Galerkin method is used with mode shape by numerical method. head-suspension system is modeled by the cantilever in order to get simulation results. Simulation results about total system of HDA are calculated by Runge-Kutta method.
A method to analyze the high speed inter-connects that are composed of frequency dependent lossy distributed lines is presented. Network modeling of hybrid systems is implemented by using the modified nodal admittance matrix in the Laplace transformation domain. The network response is computed by different two methods. One method Is the asymptotic waveform evaluation (AWE) method and other is numerical Laplace inversion method. The merits and demerits of two methods are discussed by applying to several concrete illustrative networks.

The engine behavior in a transient condition is important to not only emission regulations but also fuel economy. A fast response gas analyzer can be a useful tool to investigate exhaust gas in a transient operation. It should be designed to analyze gas concentration with a short time constant by a fast sampling module and an appropriate measuring method for each emission element. In this study, a new fast sampling module is introduced and flow analysis is performed by numerical simulation. The analysis has shown the proper operating condition and the sensitivity of the module for practical application. Calculated flow to the sampling module has $0.5{\sim}4%$ error, while backflow toward the expansion tube is expected when pressure in CP (Constant Pressure) chamber is over 0.6 bar. For a stable supply of flow to the optical cell, sample gas pressure should be in the range, $0.35{\sim}1.90$ bar, when the pressure in the CP camber and the optical cell are 0.2 bar and 0.158 bar, respectively.

This paper has shown that the impulse and the unit step responses of 2nd-order systems can be computed by an analytic method. Three different 2nd-order systems are investigated: the prototype system, the system with one LHP(left half plane) real zero and the system with one RHP(right half plane) real zero. It has also shown that the effects of the LHP or the RHP zero are very serious when the zero is getting closer to the origin on the complex plane. Based on these analytic results, this paper has presented two sufficient and necessary conditions for 2nd-order linear SISO(single-input/single-output) stable systems to have the nonovershooting and the monotone nondecreasing step response, respectively. The latter condition can be extended to the sufficient conditions for the monotone nondecreasing step response of high-order systems.

In this paper the nonstationary response of accelerating vehicle is firstly obtained by using nonstationary road roughness model in time domain. To get the result of nonstationary response in frequency domain, the maximum entropy method is used for Processing nonstationary response of vehicle in frequency domain. The three-dimensional transient maximum entropy spectrum (MES) of response is given.
The paper involves the study on the elastic and elasto-plastic stress wave propagation in the 1-D and 2-D solid media. The Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics equations governing the elastic and elasto-plastic large deformation dynamic response of solid structures are presented. The proposed additional stress points are introduced in the formulation to mitigate the tensile instability inherent in the SPH approach. Both incremental rate approach and leap-frog algorithm for time integration are introduced and the new solution algorithm is developed and implemented. Two examples on stress wave propagation in aluminium bar and 2-D elasto-plastic steel plate are included. Results from the proposed SPH approach are compared with available analytical values and finite element solutions. The comparison illustrates that the stress wave propagation problems can be effectively solved by the proposed SPH method. The study shows that the SPH simulation is a reliable and robust tool and can be used with confidence to treat transient dynamics such as linear and non-linear transient stress wave propagation problems.

In this paper, a new method for first order plus dead time(FOPDT) model identification is proposed, which can identity multiple points on a process step response in terms of classification of time response. The process input and output to the test are decomposed into the transient part and the steady-state part. The steady-state part express one FOPDT model and the transient part express variously FOPDT model using least square estimation method. The optimum parameter tuning algorithm for PID controller of the Smith Predictor is proposed through ITAE as performance index. The Simulation results show the validity and improvement of performance for various processes.
We implemented DPGC(Double-Pass Gain-Clamped) L-band EDFA for highly efficient amplification. A lasing signal generated within the linear cavity, can minimize the fluctuation of surviving channels when several WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) channels are added or dropped. The new method describing the characteristics of transient response of surviving channels quantitatively is suggested. It is to measure the ratio of lasing output before add or drop to that after add or drop. We investigated dynamic characteristics by using this method according to lasing wavelengths and propagation directions within the cavity. The experimental measurements show that the short lasing wavelength and backward propagation direction is the best condition for small fluctuation of surviving channels.
