Grounding system insures a reference potential point for electric devices and also provides a low impedance path for fault currents or transient currents in the earth. The ground impedance as function of frequency is necessary for determining its performance since fault currents could contain a wide range of frequencies. In this paper, the grounding resistance, grounding impedance and transient grounding impedance are measured by using 3-point fall-of-potential method in order to analyse grounding characteristics of the copper and concrete rod grounding electrodes. An equivalent transfer function model of the ground impedance and transient grounding impedance are identified from the measured values by using ARMA method and evaluated by comparing the conventional grounding impedance.
Reactive power support is considered to be necessary for dealing with a voltage stability issue with wind turbine system employing squirrel-cage induction generator(SCIG). This paper analyses steady-state characteristics of the SCIG wind turbine system by simulating torque-slip characteristics of SCIG with respect to variations of interconnecting network strength and generator terminal voltage. It also presents dynamics analysis of SCIG wind turbine system on Simulink to investigate the impact of static var compensator(SVC) and static synchronous compensator(STATCOM) on transient stability enhancement. It analysed transient stability with varying fault duration times and compared the transient stability characteristics with varying rated capacities of SVC and STATCOM. It is shown that the STATCOM has a better performance and reactive power support compared to SVC.
The single-phase line start permanent magnet motor(LSPM) have a rotor cage bar for induction starting and permanent magnets, providing synchronous torque. So, LSPM is vary complex and difficult to analysis transient characteristics and rotor design. In this paper, F.E.M analysis about single-phase line start permanent magnet motor and compare of the single-phase line start permanent magnet synchronous motor's transient characteristics by size and position of rotor bar.
Generally when Power MOSFET is operated, a heat sink is attached to it to emit heat caused by the operation. As the surface area of a heat sink is smaller, the thermal impedance is larger, which causes a negative influence on the characteristics of the chips and the devices and shortens the lifespan of them. In this experiment, we've compared and analysed different effects of heat sinks with 5 different surface areas on the characteristics of Thermal Transient when they are applied respectively.

The process of designing protective circuits against damage by transient overvoltages requires much work and expensive equipment. However computer simulation using PSpice can overcome these problems. In this paper a gas tube and a ZnO varistor Pspice-model considering the steepness of the wave-front were presented. The effects of various waveforms on the transient behaviors and firing volt-ages of a gas tube were modeled by controlled voltage source E controlled current source G and TABLE function of PSpice. And the nonlinear characteristics of a ZnO varistor were modeled by controlled voltage source E and H. To estimate the characteristics of the models proposed various waveforms specified in IEC Std. 1000310-4-5 were used in the simulation and the actual tests. The simulation results were compared with test results and showed good agreement.
Transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) receptors are major polymodal nociceptors that generate primary pain responses in the peripheral nerve endings of the dorsal root ganglion neurons. Recently, we reported that the activation of TRPA1 receptors by reactive oxygen species (ROS) signaling, which is triggered by Ca2+ influx through T-type Ca2+ channels, contributes to prolonged pain responses induced by jellyfish toxin. In this review, we focus on the characteristics of the TRPA1 receptor involved in intracellular signaling as a secondary pain modulator. Unlike other transient receptor potential receptors, TRPA1 receptors can induce membrane depolarization by ROS without exogenous stimuli in peripheral and central sensory neurons. Therefore, it is important to identify the functional characteristics of TRPA1 receptors to understand pain modulation under several pathogenic conditions such as neuropathic pain syndromes and autoimmune diseases, which are mediated by oxidative signaling to cause chronic pain in the sensory system.
SiC power device possesses attractive features, such as high breakdown voltage, high-speed switching capability, and high temperature operation. In general, device design has a significant effect on the switching characteristics. In this work, we report the effect of the interface states ($Q_f$) on the transient characteristics of SiC DMOSFETs. The key design parameters for SiC DMOSFETs have been optimized by using a physics-based two-dimensional (2-D) mixed device and circuit simulator by Silvaco Inc. When the $SiO_2$/SiC interface charge decreases, power losses and switching time also decrease, primarily due to the lowered channel mobilities. High density interface states can result in increased carrier trapping, or more recombination centers or scattering sites. Therefore, the quality of $SiO_2$/SiC interfaces has a important effect on both the static and transient properties of SiC MOSFET devices.

In this paper, a transformer type SFCL (superconducting fault current limiter) using an additional magnetically coupled circuit was suggested. Its transient fault current limiting characteristics, due to the winding direction of additional coupled circuit, were analyzed through fault current limiting tests. The suggested transformer type SFCL was composed of the primary winding, and one secondary winding wound on the same iron core together with an additional magnetically coupled circuit. That circuit consists of the other secondary winding together with the other SC (superconducting) element connected in parallel with its other secondary winding. As one of the effective design parameters to affect the transient fault current of the SFCL, the fault current limiting tests of the suggested SFCL were carried out considering the winding direction of its additional coupled circuit. It was confirmed that, through the analysis on the fault current tests of the SFCL, the quench sequence of two SC elements comprising the suggested SFCL could be adjusted by the winding direction of the additional coupled circuit.

The transient characteristics of the tri-axial High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) power cable are different from those of a conventional power cable depending on whether the cable is under a steady or transient state due to the quench. Verification using simulation tools is required to confirm both the characteristics of the cable and the effect of the cable when it is applied to a real utility. However, a component for the cable has not been provided in simulation tools; thus the RTDS-based model component of the tri-axial HTS power cable was developed, and a simulation was performed under the transient state. The considered properties of model component include resistance, reactance and temperature. Simulation results indicate the variation of HTS power cable condition. The results are used for the transient characteristic analysis and stability verification of the tri-axial HTS power cable. In the future, the RTDS-based model component of the cable will be used to implement the hardware-in-the-loop simulation with a protection device.
