  • In this paper, an effective image restoration using Genetic Algorithm(GA) in wavelet transform region is proposed. First, a wavelet transform is used for decomposition of a blurred image with white Gaussian noise as a preprocessing of the proposed method. The wavelet transform decomposes a degraded image into a wavelet subband coefficient planes. In this wavelet transformed subband coefficient planes, three highest subbands is composed entirely of noise elements on a degraded image. So, these subbands are removed. And remained subbands except for the lowest subband are individually applied to GA. For the performance evaluation, the proposed method is compared with a conventional single GA algorithm and a conventional hybrid method of wavelet transform and GA for a Lenna image and a boat image. As an experimental result, the proposed algorithm is prior to a conventional methods as each PSNR 3.4dB, 1.3dB.

  • The image-to-image translation is one of the deep learning applications using image data. In this paper, we aim at improving the performance of object transfiguration which transforms a specific object in an image into another specific object. For object transfiguration, it is required to transform only the target object and maintain background images. In the existing results, however, it is observed that other parts in the image are also transformed. In this paper, we have focused on the structure of artificial neural networks that are frequently used in the existing methods and have improved the performance by adding constraints to the exiting structure. We also propose the advanced structure that combines the existing structures to maintain their advantages and complement their drawbacks. The effectiveness of the proposed methods are shown in experimental results.

  • Speckle noise reduction for 3D power doppler ventricle coherent image for restoration and enhancement using wavelet packet transform with separated thresholding is presented. Wavelet Packet Transform divide into low frequency component image to high frequency component image to be multi-resolved. speckle noise is located on high frequency component in multiresolution image mainly. A ventricle image is transformed and inversed with separated threshold function from low to high resolved images for restoration to be utilize visualization for ventricle diagnosis. The experimental result shows that the proposed method has better performance in comparison with the conventional method.

  • The surface image velocimetry was developed to measure river flow velocity safely and effectively in flood season. There are a couple of methods in the surface image velocimetry. Among them the spatio-temporal image velocimetry is in the spotlight, since it can estimate mean velocity for a period of time. For the spatio-temporal image velocimetry analyzes a series of images all at once, it can reduce analyzing time so much. It, however, has a little drawback to find out the main flow direction. If the direction of spatio-temporal image does not coincide to the main flow direction, it may cause singnificant error in velocity. The present study aims to propose a new method to find out the main flow direction by using a fast Fourier transform(FFT) to a spatio-temporal (image) volume, which were constructed by accumulating the river surface images along the time direction. The method consists of two steps; the first step for finding main flow direction in space image and the second step for calculating the velocity magnitude in main flow direction in spatio-temporal image. In the first step a time-accumulated image was made from the spatio-temporal volume along the time direction. We analyzed this time-accumulated image by using FFT and figured out the main flow direction from the transformed image. Then a spatio-temporal image in main flow direction was extracted from the spatio-temporal volume. Once again, the spatio-temporal image was analyzed by FFT and velocity magnitudes were calculated from the transformed image. The proposed method was applied to a series of artificial images for error analysis. It was shown that the proposed method could analyze two-dimensional flow field with fairly good accuracy.

  • In this paper, a method of segmenting color image using characteristics of superpixels is proposed. A superpixel is consist of several pixels with same features such as luminance, color, textures etc. The superpixel can be used for image processing and analysis with large scale image to get high speed processing. A color image can be transformed to $La^*b^*$ feature space having good characteristics, and the superpixels are grouped by clustering and gradient-based algorithm.

  • Image co-registration is the process of overlaying two images of the same scene. One of which is a reference image, while the other (sensed image) is geometrically transformed to the one. Numerous methods were developed for the automated image co-registration and it is known as a time-consuming and/or computation-intensive procedure. In order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the co-registration of satellite imagery, this paper proposes a pre-qualified area matching, which is composed of feature extraction with Laplacian filter and area matching algorithm using correlation coefficient. Moreover, to improve the accuracy of co-registration, the outliers in the initial matching point should be removed. For this, two outlier detection techniques of studentized residual and modified RANSAC algorithm are used in this study. Three pairs of Landsat images were used for performance test, and the results were compared and evaluated in terms of robustness and efficiency.

  • The single image dehazing algorithm in existence can satisfy the demand only for improving either the effectiveness or efficiency. In order to solve the problem, a novel variational framework for single image dehazing based on restoration is proposed. Firstly, the initial atmospheric scattering model is transformed to meet the kimmel's Retinex variational model. Then, the green light component of image is considered as an input of the variational framework, which is generated by the sensitivity of green wavelength. Finally, the atmospheric transmission map is achieved by multi-resolution pyramid reduction to improve the visual effect of the results. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can remove haze effectively with less memory consumption.

  • In this paper, I proposed the adaptive watermarking based on the discrete wavelet transform for the very robust watermarking against intentional distortion which attacks on image. A watermark is an binary image such as document(sign), and such watermark image is embedded in the LH and HL band of wavelet transformed domain for copyright protection of image data. To evaluate robustness of the proposed method, we applied some basic algorithm of image processing such as brightening, darkening, sharpening, blurring, cropping, histogram equalizing and lossy compression(JPEG, gif). As a result of experiment, the proposed method has the good image quality and the high perceptibility of watermark. It was demonstrated by experiments that the proposed algorithm can provide an excellent protection under various attacks.

A method to extract feature points and to synthesize human facial images In 3-Dmodel-based ceding system, faciai feature points are extracted automatically using some image processing techniques and the known knowledge for human face. A wire frame model matched to human face Is transformed according to the motion of point using the extracted feature points. The synthesized Image Is produced by mapping the texture of initial front view Image onto the trarnsformed wire frame. Experinent results show that the synthesitzed image appears with little unnaturalness.
