  • In this paper, a solution method is proposed to calculate the optimum solution to discrete optimal H$_{.inf}$ control problem for feedback of linear time-invariant system states and disturbance variable. From the results of this study, condition of existence and uniqueness of its solution is that transfer matrix of controlled variable to input variable is left invertible and has no invariant zeros on the unit circle of the z-domain as well as extra geometric conditions given in this paper. Through a numerical example, the noniterative solution method proposed in this paper is illustrated.

  • In this paper, $H_{2}$ designs for the one-degree-of-freedom decoupling control systems are treated for the generalized plant. The optimal $H_{2}$ controller is obtained together with the ones that yield finite $H_{2}$ cost functions under compact assumptions. It is shown that the optimal closed transfer matrix is strictly proper under the reasonable order assumptions on the generalized plant.

  • We propose the concept of incident angle of complex number and analyze planar optical waveguides by applying the concept. The incident angle of complex number is concerned with the modeling of prism-gap-waveguide structures. It is shown that, when optical waveguides are analyzed by use of the transfer matrix method, the proposed concept enable us to find solutions faster and more accurately than ghatak's method which introduces the leaky structure.

  • The single fiber pull-out technique has been commonly used to characterize the mechanical behavior of fiber/matrix interface in fiber reinforced composite materials. In this study, an improved analysis considering the effect of thermal residual stresses in both radial and axial directions is developed for the single fiber pull-out test. It is found to have the pronounced effects on the stress transfer properties across the interface and the interfacial debonding behavior.

  • In the most of acoustic system with low flow rate and low pressure level, one-dimensional, linear modeling techniques are used very well. At low frequency, the tube is modeled as inertia element and cavity as capacitance element, and to extend the range of frequency normal mode oscillators are represented. Bond graph modelling techniques are proposed to predict TL (Transmission Loss) and time response which is impossible by transfer matrix in muffler system. A simple acoustic filter which consists of several tubes and cawities is analyzed in both time and frequency domain.

  • An analyzing method for pressure fluctuation in oil hydraulic pipe network was developed in this study. The object pipe network has multi-branch configuration, and the pipeline of it is composed of steel tubes, flexible hoses. Also, accumulators, orifices and lumped oil volume components are attached on it. Transfer matrix method, in other words impedance method, was used for the analysis. The reliablity and usefulness of the analyzing method was confirmed by comparing and investigating computed results and experimental results got in this study.

  • This paper present an optimum design for the rotor-bearing system of a high-speed (80000RPM) ultra-centrifuge supported by ball bearings with nonlinear stiffness characteristics. To obtain the nonlinear bearing stiffnesses, a ball bearing is modelled in five degrees of freedom and is analyzed quasi-statically. The dynamic behaviors of the nonlinear rotor-bearing system are analyed by using a transfer-matrix method iteratively. For optimum design, minimizing the weight of a rotor is used as a cost function and the Augmented Lagrange Multiplier (ALM) method is employed. The result shows that the rotor-bearing system is optimized to obtain 8% weight reduction.

  • This paper presents the effect of air gap insertion on the results in measuring the transmission loss of sound barrier by using APAMAT. The measured results show that air gap insertion improves transmission loss as by two-room method or intensity method. The measured results are compared with the predicted transmission loss using MATLAB GUI program based on the transfer matrix method. Predicted results were found to be in reasonable agreement with measured results.
