  • In recent years, electric power systems have been experiencing a rapid change due to the increasing electricity market. For the effective use of power system under the deregulated environment, it is important to make a fast and accurate calculation of the maximum available transfer capability (ATC) from a supply point to a demand point. In this paper, the purpose of this research is to calculate ATC fast and accurately for securing the stability of system and raising the efficiency as a result of anticipating transmission congestion according to transmission open access progressed in the future under the regulated environment of electricity market. In this paper, a study utilized a relation of the potential energy and energy function by which calculated CCT and then utilized a relation of PEBS for transient stability ATC calculation. In this paper, ATC was calculated as RPF and Energy Function method and calculation results of each method was compared. Contingence ranking method decided the weak bus by the Eigenvalues of Jacobian matrix and overloading branches by PI-index. As a result, a study proved the fast and accurate ATC calculation method considering transient stability suggested in this paper. Through the case study using New England 39 bus system, it is confirmed that the proposed method can be used for real time operation and the planning of electric market.

  • In this paper, novel CMOS charge pump having NMOS and PMOS transfer switches and a bulk-pumping circuit has been proposed. The NMOS and PMOS transfer switches allow the charge pump to improve the current-driving capability at the output. The bulk-pumping circuit effectively solves the bulk forward problem of the charge pump. To verify the effectiveness, the proposed charge pump was designed using a 80-nm CMOS process. The comparison results indicate that the proposed charge pump enhances the current-driving capability by more than 47% with pumping speed improved by 9%, as compared to conventional charge pumps having either NMOS or PMOS transfer switch. They also indicate that the charge pump reduces the worst-case forward bias of p-type bulk by more than 24%, effectively solving the forward current problem.

  • Controlled transfer (CT) capability, a new ATM transfer capability (ATC) for high-speed data applications which using credit-based flow control, has recently been proposed and studied in ITU-T. In this paper, we review the existing dyanmic buffer allocation schemes and propose an improved scheme. Also, we compare the performances of the existing buffer allocation methods such as static allocation, flow controlled virtual channels (FCVC), and zero queueing flow control (ZQFC) with the proposed method through simulation. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme exhibits a better performance than the existing schemes in terms of throughput, fairness, queue length and link utilization.

  • This paper presents the basic application idea of superconductor cable for voltage stability limited power system. In bulk power system, the transfer capability of transmission line is often limited by the voltage stability, and superconductor cable could be on of the countermeasure to enhance heat transfer limit as well as voltage stability limit. Steady state voltage stability approach by P-V curve is used to calculate the maximum transfer capability of initial system and superconductor applied system IEEE-14 bus system is used to demonstrate its applicability.

  • This paper deals with implementation of an expert system to obtain an optimal plan of load transfer for fault restoration with the capability of security monitoring and assessment in distribution systems. Based on the technique of load transfer tree analysis, the proposed expert system can afford to assist system operators in proposing an optimal plan of load transfer for fault restoration, In paticular, an application of the proposed ES to practical distribution systems yields an optimal load transfer plan which ensures system security by considering security assessment for contingency of feeders and main transformers in the knowledge based sense.

  • Available transfer capability(ATC) quantifies the viable increase in real power transfer from one point to another in a power system. ATC calculation has predominantly focussed on steady-state viability. But ATC assessment with transient stability constraints has a dominant part in overall ATC calculation. ATC assessment requires a reputation of (n-1) security assessment with constraints of thermal limits, voltage stability and dynamic stability. An estimation of determinant contingency screening method is used for computing eigenvalue of Jacobian matrix. This paper proposed a methods to ATC calculation using energy function. Constraints is used thermal limits, voltage stability and transient stability.

  • A generated problem in treated highly concentrated organic wastewater by activated sludge process is the limitation of biomass concentration and oxygen transfer capability in aeration tank. To overcome the limitation, the deep shaft activated sludge process which has high oxygen transfer capability was applied to the wastewater treatment process. This paper investigated the characteristics of liquid circulation, oxygen transfer and biological treatment of paper mill wastewater by the deep shaft activated sludge process. From the obtained results, it was found that the oxygen transfer capability in the deep shaft system was much greater than those in the conventional aeration systems and almost tantamount to the pure oxygen system. The deep shaft system could treat highly concentrated organic wastewater by higher biomass concentration and organic loading rate.

  • Piezoelectric fans are thin elastic beams whose vibratory motion is actuated by means of a piezoelectric material bonded to the beam. These fans have found use as a means to enhance convective heat transfer while requiring only small amounts of power. This study presents new types of models with heat sink having air passage and investigates experimentally their heat transfer characteristics. From the comparison results for four models, the heat transfer coefficients of model 1 are approximately 44~66% higher than those of the reference model 0. The model 1 show the best overall performance about heat transfer and cooling capability. As shown in above results, it is necessary to design the heat sink with air pass for cooling of electronic devices, in order to increase the convective heat transfer coefficient of a piezoelectric fan for electronic cooling.

  • This paper is a comparison study about leadership training transfer factors between physicians working in large scale hospitals and managers working in firms. To fulfill this purpose, this study conducted a regression analysis on 101 managers and 59 physicians who had attended similar leadership training programs more than 16 hours recently in order to identify the differences on the learning transfer factors. 6 factors such as Learner readiness, Performance self-efficacy, (so far as Trainee Characteristics group), Organization Culture, Supervisor's tangible incentives and Supervisor's intangible support, (so far as Work environment group), Content Validity & Transfer Design (so far Training Design group) were used as independent variables while the personal Managerial Capability Increase and Leadership Capability Increase were used as dependent variables. And also we used 5 factors as control variables ; Job style (Manager or Physician), Age, Gender, Working years and Organization size. Here are the summary of major findings ; first, there were statistically significant differences between the learning transfer factors in leadership training programs for managers and those of physicians. Second, there were also statistically significant differences among trainees' working years and their organization size factors while age and gender do not affect the learning transfer factors. Third, for the physician's leadership training the practitioners should focus on two factors ; Organization Culture and Learner readiness.
